ABC Cancels Trophy Wife, Mixology, The Neighbors, Suburgatory, and Super Fun Night

The cancellations come on the heels of the network renewing several series and picking up nine new ones.

Are these shows saying, "Hello!" in a good way or a bad way?

    • Fun, but a bit uneven

I would not describe Super Fun Night as a great comedy. The humor is sometimes forced, the series doesn't always seem to have a firm grasp on its characters, and episodes vary in quality. But I would describe it as very likable and good hearted, and say that it's funny more often than its not. It's a shame it's been cancelled.

One oddity of the show is that besides following Kimmie and her friends, it follows her crush and his girlfriend. These sections don't really fit that well, and I really think it was done just so they could show Kate Jenkinson in a nightie from time to time. But I'm okay with that.moreless
    • without Rebel it actually would be super fun

First I was excited about the Show with Rebel because in her movies she was hilarious but in this show she is just annoying. The only funny thing here are her two friends. And what's with the stupid story around her boss and his girlfriend it is super boring and doesn't fit in.
    • Very Innovative Programming

Sounds like it should have been the entry for a game show based on video games or something. Who am I kidding? This show was a blatant atrocity and not at all funny. What a waste of space. ABC should have cancelled this instead of Back In The Game.
    • An example of how reviewers don't always get it right

I have this theory that basically most (not all) professional critics look over the table at each others' work before they submit their drafts. What's everyone saying about this show, and how do I not look like an idiot when I submit my own opinion? What's that? Everyone else is trashing this show? Hm, if I say something positive, that must make my own taste questionable. I'll stick to saying what everyone else says about this show.

That's the only explanation I can really think of for why this show is universally panned. It's not perfect, but it has consistently made me laugh out loud every episode. I love the quirky awkwardness of the characters and it's obvious that these writers sympathise with the underdog.

Basically, give it a shot, and if it's not your thing, it's not your thing. But you might be pleasantly surprised, like I was.moreless
    • Hits the spot

This show is really a good slice of fun. It's smart and light - and Rebel does an excellent job as Kimmie the underdog. It's different to many of the American comedy shows out there, and I hear that much of it is based on Rebel's own experience as a Lawyer. Bottom line is that sometimes all you need is a little light fun. I'll keep watching.
