Does anyone know why they chose to draw him without a neck, because in my opinion he doesn't not look like Kirby drew him or anyone else for that matter (and yes I know Kirby could not have drawn him for the show).

From a design standpoint, it probably helps to get across how pitiful he actually is. He's one of those people who thinks that they look cool and tough, but doesn't know that everyone around him thinks he's a putz. The fact that he has no neck, and a head that is like 4x too large for his body, illustrates the true, pitiful ridiculousness of Kalibak and helps showcase his role in the series as Darkseid's idiot son. Just a guess though.

they addressed in the 3rd boxset that Kalibak' design was hard cuz Kirby's drawings were so different that they couldn't decide which to use. In the end, they went with the design we see today (he does look kinda weird in hindsight)

Well, Kalibak is from Apokalypse, and nobody on that planet is really that great looking or normal for that matter. They have a grandmother who talks like a man. And Thandabarr is mega creepy if you ask me.
