I love them both. Couldn't choose. Fortunately I don't have to.

superman the animated series of course, i mean the pathetic attempt to try to make smallville for teenagers, or people in there 20s? smallville is just too weird and gives off too much of that scifi vibe, i dont like it that much, my english teacher, she loved that show and made us sit through each episode huh man talk about bad times

Smallville. Although I don't like some of the characters and the plot is taking a downfall, I've watched it from the very beginning and are a die hard fan.

S:TAS is kinda boring to me...maybe cause it's animated, but it does give you a sense that your reading the comics. You get more comic trivia in and it's closer to the real thing, something Smallville can't give you.

Smallville was good until the writers got sloppy and Lana got annoying. That was circa season 4. But i give it to them for bringing in Ollie. Nevertheless, considering the fact that S: tas is so well tied to B: tas and JLU and Batman Beyond, I'd say I prefer S: tas.

    Superman: TAS

I love Smallville and all but the last few seasons have been kind of funky. Also there is one big, no HUGE thing that puts me off of Smallville. Clark DOESN'T WEAR GLASSES, AT ALL! If you grew up in Smallville or have met Clark in at least one episode, YOU KNOW WHO SUPERMAN IS!

Tough call. Hmmm ... Smallville I guess. But JLA/U puts both shows to shame.

^S:TAS is far better than both of those shows. I love them plenty, but S:TAS has the upper hand in just about every area that counts.

I love both shows a lot. Both shows were fantastic and had things I really enjoyed. Too hard to say for me. But if I had to choose I think I'd choose Smallville. I think my favorite episodes of Smallville beat out my favorite episodes of STAS but just barely. And for those of you who haven't watched Smallville yet or those who just don't like it, I suggest you watch it (or try again). Chances are you either watched a not so great episode or didn't like how it's different from the traditional mythos. I'll admit that the beginning seasons are sort of slow but still have a good number of AMAZING episodes, but the show really picks up later on and I bet you'd been hooked on it fast. Believe it not I actually use to HATE Superman. lol I then finally gave Superman Returns a chance and actually thought it was alright (now that I've seen other Superman movies and shows I'll admit I don't like SR as much as I once did and kind of hate most parts of it). I then moved on to this wonderful series STAS and then Smallville. The first time I heard of Smallville I thought it was extremely stupid and I kind of just didn't like it. But I gave it a chance and it really grew on me and so did the Superman character and universe. Anyways just give it a chance and who knows, you may actually end up liking it like I did (and FYI I hate A LOT of things so this is pretty rare!). LOL

Being that this is a forum dedicated to Superman: TAS I pick Superman:TAS.

Smallville by the way is a horrible program, a combination of  Dawson's Creek and the X-Files, with awful acting and writing.

The episode of  Superman:TAS's "New Kids in Town"  gives a better portrayal of Clark Kent as a teenager than virtually any episode of Smallvile.

I wouldn't say that about Smallville. Smallville is in a different universe. They are telling there tale of a young Clark Kent before he became the man of steel.

I like the cartoon better. Smallville is pretty good, but some of the best things they did was the interplay between Clark and Lex in the early seasons. And some things were drawn out way too long (the whole on and off romance with Lana lasted about 3 seasons too long). Also, its gone so far off track there's no fhance of ever being able to bridge with original Superman canon, but that has no bearing on if its good or not really.

Has to be Superman: The Animated Series. I must admit since the conclusion of this series the Superman movie specials have been a little lame, but it's still better than Smallville.
