Kara: The Metropolis Meteors made me their honorary batgirl. Won't Barbara be jealous...?
Kara: No offence, but what's so great about being normal?
Jonathan Kent: Now see here, if it's good enough for us humans, it's good enough for you.
This is the only time in the series when x-ray vision is used as a weapon.
Supergirl pets her cat, who is brown with a white streak down her back. In silver-age stories, Supergirl had a super-cat named Streaky. The cat reappears in the Justice League one-parter, "Comfort and Joy."
Spider-Man
On the bus, Kara glances at a comic titled "Spider Power". The character on the cover has a costume very similar to Spider-Man, and is in the character's iconic web shooting pose. This is a reference to Marvel superhero Spider-Man.
Supergirl: Does Pastor Ross knows about this?
This a reference to Clark Ross, a minister father of comic book artist Alex Ross, whose favorite superhero is Superman. Alex Ross used a priest based on his father as the main character in the story arc, Kingdom Come.
Reverend Howell: Appearance and Demeanor.
Reverend Howell seems to have been based on preacher Harry Powell, the main villain of the 1955 film noir Night of the Hunter.
