First appearance of Volcana.
JAMES BOND
During the final fight scene in the laboratory, it can't be coincidence that the man responsible for trapping Volcana is wearing a variation of Doctor No's radiation/safety suit and that the music played is almost an exact copy of the music from a majority of Bond films when Bond is usually watching the "baddies" evil setup taking place.
Marvel Comics
This episode contained several images and concepts found within Marvel Comics. Volcana covers her body in flames to fly, just like the Human Torch. She attended a school for paranormal children run by a bald man with paranormal powers himself, which is very much like Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters in X-Men and it's founder Charles Xavier. And Volcana is captured by a man with an eye-patch who works for a shadowy government agency, much like Nick Fury of SHIELD, who's right hand man has a mustache and wears a bowler hat, just like Fury's man Dugan. The uniforms of the guards in the underground government facility are similar to the uniforms worn by AIM (Advanced Idea Mechanics) agents.
