Stand Alones vs the Plot Heavy episodes Which do you chose?

I personally like the Stand Alones because they then to be very funny andversatile.

    Personal favorite Stand Alones are:

    - Yellow Fever

    - Curse of the rabbits foot

    - Bad day at Black Rock

    - Changing Channels

    - The Pilot ( If that counts)

I wouldn't count the pilot or changing channels as stand alone, they both advanced the plot a bit. my favourite stand alone episode would have to be the haunted hotel one (i can't remember the name)

Depends on the season, really. As the show has progressed I've found the fillers getting less and less interesting, probably because there's so few monsters they haven't done they have to reuse old ones and come up with gimmicks to put a new spin on it. Season 5 in particular had a great story arc but some of the worst filler eps in the entire show.

I like stand alone episodes & arc episodes equally however I feel like Supernatural has a bit of an issue sometimes with having to many stand alone episodes because to me some times it doesn't make sense for Dean & Sam to be off fighting random evil monster/demon/etc... of the week while they have more pressing issues to deal with likeLeviathan, Lucifer, or Lilith. However that merely has to do with story structure imo rather than not liking the episodes themselves.

Each does a different thing for me. On the one hand, I like my stories to go somewhere, which the standalones don't. On the other, I recognize that not everything in my life goes toward one overarching goal.

This is one of the rare occasions in which I both understand what you mean, and agree with it as well

Yeah the filler do tend to get less interesting as time goes on, a reason why I feel 22 episodes isn't really needed. I wouldn't have cared if seasons got cut down to 16-18, as we always end up with a few stinkers.
