FILTER BY TYPE

  • Trivia

    • Lovecraft's short story, "The Haunter of the Dark" was written in November, 1935, and published in the December 1936 edition of Weird Tales, rather than written and finished in March, 1937 as shown here.

  • Quotes

    • Dean: What did he do?
      Bobby: Stole something.
      Sam: What?
Bobby: The journal of one Moishe Campbell.
      Sam: Moishe?
Bobby: Of the New York Campbells.

    • Sam: So we got to get it back, right?
Bobby: Or just read the copy I'd already made. Hi, glad to meet you. Bobby Singer, paranoid bastard.

    • Dean: So who's this Phillips guy?
Bobby: Phillips ain't his last name. It's Lovecraft.
Sam: H.P. Lovecraft? Let me see that.
Dean: Am I supposed to know who that is?
Bobby: Horror writer? "At the Mountains of Madness"? "The Call of Cthulhu"?
Dean: Yeah. No, I was too busy having sex with women.

    • Dean: Crowley. Let 'em go, now. Or I swear...
Crowley: Right, right. You'll rip me a cornucopia of orifices.

    • Balthazar: I'm sorry, boys, do I look like a manservant to you? No? Then quit ringing for me. Please.
      Dean: It's important, Balthazar.
Balthazar: I was drinking '75 Dom out of a soprano's navel when you called. That was important.

    • Bobby: So I hear you have a large collection of Lovecraft's private letters.
      Lovecraft Collector: World's largest.
Bobby: Wow. You must be catnip to the ladies.
Lovecraft Collector: I'm in a long-term online relationship.

    • Lovecraft Collector: Okay, are you working with this on the other guy?
      Bobby: Other guy?
Lovecraft Collector: Yeah. Uh, you know, trenchcoat, looks like Columbo, talks like Rain Man.

    • Ben: Who are you?
Dean: I'm the... uh, the guy who hit you.
      Lisa: Oh.
Dean: I just, I lost control for a minute. And I just wanted to say that I'm sorry. I'm really happy you two are both okay. And, uh, I'm glad your life can get back to normal now.
Lisa: We're okay. So, so that's what's important, right?
Dean: Yeah. Anyway, I'll leave you two alone. You take care of your mom.

    • Music: Smiling Faces (The Undisputed Truth)

    • The graphic novel that Ben is seen reading actually exists, and is Cthulhu Tales Vol. 2: Whispers of Madness (ISBN 1934506516). It is an anthology of original tales, published by BOOM! Studios in December, 2008.

    • On its premiere, aired at a special time of 8/7 central.

  • Allusions

    • Title:
Referencing the album and title track of the The Rolling Stones' eighth album release in December 1969. The song itself is alleged to be the band's parody/homage of The Beatles' Let It Be, and was never released as a single.

    • Crowley: Your chocolate's been in my peanut butter for far too long.
Referencing the 1970s-80s marketing slogan for Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, "Two great tastes that that taste great together. In the TV commercials, a person with chocolate and a person with peanut butter would inevitably collide and mix up their food. One would say "You got your peanut butter in my chocolate!" and the other would say, "You got your chocolate in my peanut butter!", and they'd end up happy with the resulting mixture.

    • Crowley: Call on the Batphone?
Referencing the device first seen in the 1960s Batman series. Commissioner Gordon has a red phone that is tied to a line going to Wayne Manor, where Batman answers and typically assures the Commissioner that he's on his way, or gives some reassurance. The Batphone was eventually introduced into the comic as an encrypted cell phone.
