  • Crowley was brilliant, as always!

    8.5
Interesting enough story, Crowley was brilliant, as always, but sulky Dean spoiled the episode for me. It's just so out of character for him and I hope it doesn't last.
  • There it is!

    9.0
This monster was so wonderfully simple and important, it made me want to cry. This was what I've been needing from Supernatural for a while. It was just a demonic possession, and we knew it would be significant somehow because it had to do with the Men Of Letters, but revealing at the end that this was the start of Abadon was really clever in my opinion. They brought back that surprising cleverness that seems so effortless and perfect from earlier seasons, and they finally got it right again. They've been trying to throw in those twists, but they've been making them either obvious, pointless, or way too over-dramatized. With this episode, it was perfect as it was before.

The performance of the characters was great as always, but I'm afraid that Jared's Sam is getting a little too angry. In this episode he was great, it was nice to see that old Sammy compassion, but Sam's anger has seemed a little forced in recent episodes. Both boys are doing well, but the passion is slipping away, especially for Dean in this episode. The passion has turned to anger, and it's mostly because the show is on season 9 and it's almost run its course. But for where they are, they're doing fine. If they can find a way to bring back the passion, though, I think we could go to season 11. But, at this rate, the show will have to end while it's still not pathetic old angry men running around with scowls and toys for men half their age.

Overall, this episode was the right way of approaching the fact that this is season 9, but their old flare for writing great episodes is still the same. Let's just hope they can keep up the flare and take the next episode in the right direction. Passion is lacking, but if the show ends soon and on a realistic bang, we'll be just fine. Keep it up, Supernatural- good job!moreless
  • Nice Job Misha!!

    10
Definitely one of the better episodes. Reasons? Misha gets to operate from behind the cameras and the result is great! Grandpa Henry makes an appearance with more top-notch MoL storylines. Dean bloodthirsty desire to kill is refreshing to watch. Even this case is interesting and gripping (yes, most of the standalone cases kinda disappoint), while serving as a nice recall to Season 6's "soulless Sam". No wrong mythology OR cheap angst OR rushed plot. Overall a nice episode which makes me feel good. But seriously I hope this is the case for every episode cause it sucks for a fan to watch a good show as Supernatural to go downhill in the course of time. Keep it up Supernatural!moreless
  • Upping the stakes

    9.5
This was a very well written, directed and acted episode. It was intriguing as a MOV as well as part of the arc of hunting Abadon.

I wonder what Crowley's game is and I fear for Dean. It was interesting to see them work apart. It showed how they rely on the other while working. On the other hand, I think a bit of a distance now and then is only good for them. Maybe not exactly in this situation, but overall, good idea.

    Though I did miss Cas.moreless
