  • Trivia

    • When Dr. Jennings is hit by the bus, one of his shoes flies off and is clearly visible in the foreground. However, when the EMTs cover his body, both of Jennings' shoes are on.

    • After the Winchesters say goodbye to Andy and discuss whether he's a killer, they get in the van. A piece of red cue mark tape is plainly visible on Sam's side on the ground. It can be seen twice, once as Jared steps over it, and more clearly as he closes the passenger side car door.

    • As Holly holds the cigarette lighter up to her arms to set herself on fire, the whitish protective firegel is clearly visible on her arms.

    • When the doctor is walking to the gun store in Sam's original vision, he says hi to a lot of people. But when we see him actually walking there, he has an uninterrupted course.

    • Trivia: This episode is the first to show Sam wearing a cast over his wrist and arm. The episode "Playthings" will be the last.

  • Quotes

    • (Dean is singing REO Speedwagon's "Can't Fight This Feeling")
      Sam: You're kidding, right?
Dean: I heard the song somewhere. I can't get it outta my head. I don't know, man.

    • Dean: You know, one day I'd love to just sit down, and eat something that I didn't have to microwave in a Mini-Mart.

    • Sam: The demon said he had plans for me, and children like me.
      Dean: Yeah...?
Sam: Maybe this is the plan. Maybe we're all a bunch of psychic freaks. Maybe we're all supposed to be...
Dean: What, killers? (off Sam's look) Gimme a break. You're not a murderer, Sam.
Sam: No? Last time I checked, I kill all kinds of things.

    • Andy: Why are you following me?
Sam: Well, we're lawyers. See, a relative of yours has passed...
      Andy: Tell the truth!
      Sam: That's what I...
      Dean: (deadpan) We hunt demons.
      Andy: What?
Dean: Demons, spirits, things your worst nightmares wouldn't even touch. Sam here, this is my brother...
      Sam: Dean, shut up!
Dean: I'm trying! He's psychic. Kinda like you, well not really like you, but see, he thinks you're a murderer, and he's afraid that he's gonna become one himself, 'cause you're all part of something that's terrible, and I hope to hell that he's wrong, but I'm starting to get a little scared that he might be right.

    • Jo: What?
      Dean: REO Speedwagon?!
Jo: Damn right, REO. Kevin Cronin sings it from the heart.
Dean: He sings it from the hair--there's a difference.

    • Sam: Plus, it could have some connection with the demon. My visions always do.
Dean: That's my point! There's gonna be hunters there. I don't know if, if going in there and announcing that you're some supernatural freak, with a demonic connection's the best thing, okay?
Sam: So I'm a freak now?
Dean: You've always been a freak.

    • Sam: Holly Beckett gave birth to twins.
      Andy: I have…an evil twin.

    • Andy: Are you really this stupid? You, you learn you got a twin, you call them up! You go out for a drink. You don't start killing people!

    • Andy: This is a cherry ride.
      Dean: Yeah, thanks.
Andy: Man, a '67. Impala's best year, if you ask me. This is a serious classic.
Dean: Yeah. You know, I just rebuilt her, too. Can't let a car like this one go.
Andy: Damn straight. Hey, can I have it?
      Dean: Sure, man!

    • Dean: (to the Impala) I'm sorry, baby. I'll never leave you again.

    • Dean: I'm calling do-over.
      Sam: What are you, 7?

    • Dean: What's wrong?
      Sam: Nothing.
Dean: Sam, you look like you're sucking on a lemon.

    • Dean: Besides, if I ran off with you I think your mother might kill me.
Jo: You're afraid of my mother?
      Dean: I think so.

    • Ash: Sam. Dean. Sam and Dean.
Sam: Hey, Ash, um, we need your help.
Ash: Well hell then, I guess I need my pants.

  • Notes

    • The original version of the story, as pitched by Ben Edlund, involved a deformed twin who convinced his normal-looking brother to be retarded thanks to their telepathic link. In the finale, the deformed twin should have eaten his sibling. It was John Shiban that helped Edlund to boil down the script to the form seen here.

  • Allusions

    • Webber/Anson Willams: She's garbage, man! They all are! We can push them, we can make them do whatever we want!
Referencing Firestarter by Stephen King, in which a character develops telepathic hypnosis which he refers to as the "push."

    • Dean: It's not exactly a serial killer's lair, though. There's no clown paintings on the wall...
A reference to serial killer John Wayne Gacy Jr. who killed at least 32 young men in Chicago in the 1970s (and buried most of them in the crawl space under his home). One of Gacy's other hobbies was dressing as a clown for children's parties and for visiting sick children in the hospital. He also collected clown artwork and even painted some of his own.

    • Andy's License Plate: RU OBI 1
Another reference to the 1977 film Star Wars and Obi-Wan Kenobi.

    • Sam: Hegel, Kant, Wittgenstein, it's pretty heavy reading, Dean.
Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (1770-1831) and Immanuel Kant (1724-1804) were German philosophers, Ludwig Josef Johann Wittgenstein (1889-1951) was a philosopher from Austria. All three are regarded as very influential thinkers and are responsible for major philosophical achievements. Their original works are counted among the most complex and difficult readings available.

    • Andy: These aren't the droids you're looking for.

Referencing Obi-Wan's famous line to the stormtroopers who are searching for C-3PO and R2-D2 in Mos Eisley in Star Wars Episode 4: A New Hope. Obi-Wan is using the Force, which allows him to controls the thoughts of the weak-minded.

    • Dean: He full-on Obi-Wan'd me. It's mind control, man.
Ben "Obi-Wan" Kenobi was mentor to Anakin Skywalker in the Star Wars prequels, and his arch-nemesis in the Original Star Wars trilogy after Anakin turned to the Dark Side of the Force and became Darth Vader. In the series, Jedi were capable of the technique known as "Jedi Mind Trick", which allowed them to manipulate the thoughts and actions of "weak-willed" individuals.
