The akwardness between Jenna and Heidi, who are both sponsored by Roxy, and the rest of the girls seems to be getting bigger, and it doesn't help matters that Heidi's face is turning up on Roxy posters across Sydney. Meanwhile, the girls are informed that their next contest will actually be a press conference and will make up 30% of their weekly rating. The next day they are introduced to Quicksilver Communications Manager, John Shimooka, and two-time World Champion Tom Carroll. They will be helping the girls learn how to present themselves in front of the press. Mary, Kula, Jen and Jenna all seem to be at ease talking in front of the local media, while Katie seemed to struggle on her words. But it was Heidi who, perhaps, gave the worst performance that night. Their next elimination contest takes place at Avalon Beach. During the 3rd heat, April and Kula go for the same wave and end up colliding with each other. The disqualification is called on April, who is disappointed with her performance and yet un-apologetic about possibly ruining Kula's ride. Later that night, the girls find out the results of the contest, which will determine who will be eliminated. Kula, Molli, Mary, and Jen are all safe in the green. Vivian, Robyn, April, Heidi and Jenna are in the yellow which leaves Katie alone in the red. Danielle tells Katie that even though she has been trying her best, she still isn't getting the waves that she needs. As a group, all of the girls have realized that Katie does not have the experience that they have and they have all been supportive of her. Because of this, Katie is kept on so that she can have the chance to experience the next location. Of course, Katie and most of the girls are thrilled, but a couple of them seem a little bit irritated by the judges decision.moreless

The girls are all still shocked and upset by the elimination of Bonnie. Emotions are running high and it appears that Jenna is bumping heads with a few of the other girls. They drive to Cresent Head for a day of free surf. The waves are rough and choppy and there are other surfers everywhere. The girls aren't sure if they want to paddle out or not. April faces the waves and, in the process, looses her footing on her board and dislocates her shoulder for a split second. She is concerned that the injury might keep her from surfing her best in future competitions. That night the girls go camping. It's a nice change for them at first, but some of them begin to get on each other's nerves after awhile. They try to get some sleep for the PT test, which is part of how they will be ranked. The next day at the PT test, the girls are not comfortable with the surrounding conditions. Lifeguards are all around just in case they get into any trouble. This does not seem to ease their minds. The waves are big and stormy, but they all paddle out and they seem to really be pushing hard. Mary places 1st with Heidi in second. The girls are all relieved that the test is overwith, but it has taken a lot out of Heidi, who is consoled by Danielle. Afterwards, the girls head to Sydney, Australia where they will be having a contest the next day. On the long ride to Sydney, the girls begin to get into arguements leaving Jenna and Heidi feeling picked on and left out. After arriving at the hotel, Heidi complains to Danielle that the girls need to be more respectful to each other. Later on, Danielle and Jen talk about all the complaining that has been going on and both agree that Jenna and Heidi are spoiled and the whining has to stop.moreless

The elimination meeting is continued and we find out that Molli, Katie and Bonnie are all in the yellow. Vivian and Lauren are in the red. To everyone's relief, Danielle tells the girls that there will be no eliminations that day because she wants all of them to have another chance to reach their fullest potential. She also lets the girls know that by the end of the week, 2 of them will definitely be going home. Meanwhile, Lauren begins to doubt herself and questions why she wanted to do this in the first place. The next day the girls fly to the Golf Coast to surf at Surfer's Paradise and to begin physical training. They are introduced to Quicksilver Pro Trainer Rob Rowland Smith, and they begin an exhausting day of physical training. At the end of the day, the girls realize that Lauren is missing from the group. Back at the hotel, Lauren tells Danielle that she is dropping out (to avoid being sent home). Later that week, Vivian decides against staying home and resting for the contest the next day and, instead, decides to go to a bar where she ends up having too much to drink and wakes up the next morning with a hangover. This puts her at a disadvantage at the competition as the partying seems to have taken a lot out of her, but throughout the day she begins to improve. During the competition, the judges keep there eyes on Katie and Bonnie, who seem to be struggling the most, while Mary, Jen and Kula take the top 3 positions. The results of the contest will determine who will be eliminated. At the elimination meeting, Rob tells the girls how hard it was for them (the judges) to make the decision. He and Danielle also tell the girls that since Lauren quit earlier that week they will only be sending one girl home. Even though Vivian's attitude needed some improvement, Bonnie's surfing just was not cutting it and she is the first to be eliminated.moreless

The girls are all entered into the first WQS (World Qualifying Series) of the year so that they can see what it is like to be a professional surfer at a professional event. At the Roxy Pro Contest Orientation the girls are introduced to four time World Champion Lisa Anderson, who will be the contest director. Before the contest, Aimee calls her father, who has lung cancer, to check up on him. Things are not looking good for him and arrangements are made to send Aimee home that night. When the girls arrive at the beach they are excited and nervous to see that pro surfers have come to watch them compete. The girls are introduced to the WQS judge Liz Cantor, who informs them that the long boarders and short boarders will be competing against each other to see which surfers stand out. The short boaders are judged on the difficulties of their maneuvers and the long boarders are judged on wave selection and length of ride. During round one Heidi, Jenna, Mary, Jen and Katie compete. They have 20 minutes to catch their best 3 waves. Mary finds herself in the lead while Katie seems to be struggling. Later on, Vivian's board breaks and Neva has trouble finding good waves. April surfs the longest long board ride of the day which places her in first, and Kula ties with Mary for second. After the contest, Neva pulls Danielle aside and tells her that she wants to go home. Later that night, Danielle tells Neva that she hopes that this has been a growing experience for her. Aimee and Neva are sent home that night. The next day, round three of the competition takes place. Danielle tells the girls that their surfing will be 60% of their overall ranking. After the contest, the judges decide who will be sent home. Originally, they were planning on eliminating four girls after the contest, but since Aimee and Neva left they were only going to be sending two girls home. The girls are ranked by color. Green is for the girls who are at the top, yellow is for the those who are in the middle, and red is for the girls who are very close to being sent home. April, Mary, Heidi, Jen and Robyn are thrilled to find themselves in the green, Kula and Jenna are in the yellow which leaves five girls (Molli, Bonnie, Lauren, Katie and Vivian) wondering who will be in the red.moreless

The journey begins in Melbourne, Australia. Danielle Beck, the Surf Girls Team Manager, greets the girls at the airport. The East Coast Group (Heidi, Robyn, Molli, Katie and Mary) are the first to arrive soon followed by the West Coast Group (Neva, Jenna, Lauren, Bonnie and Jen). Later on, the last group of girls finally arrive from Hawaii (Aimee, Kula, Vivian and April). The girls were shocked to hear that there would be eliminations. They also found out that, in the end, the prize for the winner would be a wild card spot into a WCT (World Championship Tour) event. They will be judged on their surfing ability, physical training, and their overall attitude. During the next 6 weeks the girls will be meeting professional surfers who will help train them. Kassia Meader, a world class surfer, was the first to be introduced to the girls. She and Danielle prepared the girls for their first challenge. The first challenge was the PT (physical training) Test in which Jen placed first and Neva was tagged a "cheater." The girls are struggling to understand Neva's loner attitude.moreless
