A love this show!

Another twist is introduced in this episode. Savannah starts to treat Miles with respect after her friends bully him in front of her. Rich, Laura and Jackson tests a homemade submersible. The writers did a good job on this one, the tension's been rising since the first episode, it's leading to this one. but we're only halfway through this great show. i love watching surface, there's so much happening in this show, it's a very rich universe. the characters are really interesting, things worked out great in terms of story and character development. this show deserved getting a new season.moreless

How does the Jackson character fit into the grand scheme of the show?

The first time Jackson appeared as a character in the show, I had a feeling he was somehow involved in the conspiracy. He was always asking questions and never giving answers, which is the hallmark of a cuatious person in real-life, and that of a shady character in film and television.

His mysterious disappearance in season 1 is made more intriguing when his photo appears on one of the monitors in the underground Comdex facility... I'll be looking for Jackson in Season 2.moreless

Laura and Rich venture below the surface to the source of the creatures, and Miles serves community service whilst grieving over Nim.

What can I say? How exciting was this episode?! We've got Laura and Rich under the ocean in a submersible, Miles pining after Nim, and Laura's ex-husband being threatened by Lee. Surface never fails to impress!

The two seperate story threads play together nicely in this episode, with each recieving ample screen time. I do hope that they come together soon though, as now that Miles has lost Nim, he is pretty much alone. The eggs in the aquarium will definitely create an interesting storyline, and things are starting to heat up in every aspect of the show.

Rich and Laura are now hot on the trail of the creatures, and have gone under the ocean to the site where they have all gathered. The tension was played excellently in these scenes, with the submersible taking on water, and the cable snapping. I could say that it was a little unbelievable that the tank proved useful as a submersible, but then again, this is a show about mystical creatures.

One thing that struck me about this episode is that it made me realise that I care more about these characters than I thought. The scene where Laura calls up Jesse to tell him she loves him, was very heart-felt and moving. Similar emotions are evoked by Miles' grief over Nim, and Savanah's plight to stop her brother being shipped off to military school. It was great to see her being caring towards her brother and really brought depth to her character.

The ending of this episode was fantastic, with the submersible cable snapping, and the tank being plunged straight into the glowing green crater. It poses so many questions, and makes it so hard to wait till next time. What is down there? What will happen to Rich and Laura, and how the hell will they get out of it?! Surface is such a great show that deserves more credit than it gets, and it's story elements and twists like this, that make me hope so much that it gets renewed for another season.

I don't see the point of lambasting a show for it's scientific accuracy, this is not National Geographic and we are not in school. For goodness sakes it is a show about a manufactured animal/human/plant hybrid creature.

It was a very good episode.

Roll on, roll on, next episode.

I have no complaints.
