A lot of people wrote off Surviving Suburbia before it even hit the airwaves. It was not even good enough to be on The CW. ABC took a chance on the show. While the pilot may have proven a lot of critics right in the notion that this show is terrible, the last two episodes have restored my faith in the family sitcom. This show is light-hearted and it does not take itself too seriously.
More importantly, Surviving Suburbia knows its purpose. It is not trying to be the next Seinfeld or Friends, like so many shows attempt. It is just trying to restore the program that a father, mother and children can watch together, and all get a few laughs in the process.
This episode had it all, and even Jim, a guy I ranked on pretty hard, got me to chuckle here. This show might not stick around for another season, but ABC would be smart to renew it.moreless
