    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    • TRIVIA (2)

      • Sandra joins Tina Wesson as the only mothers to win "Survivor."

      • In the first immunity challenge, the final four contestants took on the five jury members (acting as a team) in a trivia question and answer contest. The jury won, thereby resulting in none of the four contestants gaining immunity. This is the first time in "Survivor" history that no contestant held immunity in a post-merge Tribal Council.

    • QUOTES (1)

    • NOTES (9)

      • In an Entertainment Weekly interview, Host Jeff Probst rated this season as his third favorite from seasons 1-9. Probst said that the casting was terrific, with hero Rupert and villain Johnny Fairplay. There were so many unexpected twists, like Osten laying down his torch and John's lie about his grandmother that "there are many reasons why Pearl Islands was good." One thing that Probst did not like about the Pearl Islands was the Outcasts twist. "I hated the Outcasts," Probst said. "I felt it went against everything we say the show is about."

      • Up to season 7, there have been a total of 112 contestants on Survivor. In terms of announcing the contestants, Darrah was the 100th contestant to be revealed for her participation in Survivor.

      • This was the most watched finale episode since "Survivor: Marquesas".

      • Filmed during the week of July 31, 2003.

      • Sandra won against Lill in the final two with a vote of 6-1. Sandra did not receive any votes against her throughout the entire game.

      • Sandra's win scores a female winner for the first time in an odd-numbered Survivor season. It was also the second time in Survivor history the final two were both females.

      • In a surprise twist, the jury was involved in the first immunity challenge and won, resulting in no one from Balboa gaining immunity. The second immunity challenge was won by Lill.

      • In the first Tribal Council, Darrah ("D") was voted off. After Lill won the second immunity, Jon was voted off.

      • Original east coast CBS broadcast began approximately 35 minutes late, due to a late-running football game, followed by extended coverage of the capture of deposed Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.
