Dave goes home first...gotta say, I am extremely happy that egotistical, smarmy twerp got outmaneuvered. Thinking to day 39 on day 1 is a sure sign you're going home quick.

Sad to see a sports figure go first let alone MLB but a great first episode nonetheless.

Although I was watching the Michigan game more

Whoah...J'Tia pulls a meltdown like the Brandon fiasco and Garrett takes an approach that makes Russell Hantz look like a genius in strategy. That was wild, to say the least, coming from the "Brains" tribe....and in a stunner, Garrett goes home over the woman who dumped 98% of the rice into a fire in J'Tia.

    Wild, wild, wild....

I hope Garrett enjoys the HII he took home in his pocket...without a doubt, the dumbest player in a long, long, long while.

Thought he would at least make merge. Probably gonna be a come-back challenge cause we're already down to 16

Honestly, who picked the Brains tribe in casting? J'Tia looks just a wee bit unstable and let's not bring up her, ummm, immunity challenge performances. Garrett talked that he didn't like being in a "surviving" setting...what show did he think he was applying for? Poker Tour at Jungle Casino?

We're on the 28th season of a great show but man, the last few seasons with the Hantzes and now this...ugghhh...

Wasn't J'Tia like the fan favorite or something before the show started? That episode was crazy. It has been a long time since I didn't know what was going to happen. The Brawns and Beauty tribes seem boring but that is probably because they haven't had to do anything yet. I understand why the Brains voted out David, but I think J'Tia would have been the best choice. I have no idea why Kass voted Garrett out the second time. It doesn't matter if you have the numbers when there are four people on your tribe and she would have been safe either way. Tony: not as annoying as I thought. He could grow on me.
Woo: I really hate people who are awestruck by athletes and I think Woo is with Cliff. Seems very immature.
Cliff" Usually, I hate it when athletes appear on reality shows, but I like Cliff for some reason.
Trish: I find her obnoxious which is disappointing because I thought I would like her.
Lindsey: I thought I would hate her and I only mildly dislike her. Made a big deal over the firewood for no reason.
Sarah: Can't quite make her out. Don't know why she said "Tony cut his foot like an idiot." I'm not sure how that makes him an idiot.

Garrett: He reminded me of a peacock strutting his feathers around. I am glad he is gone so I don't have to watch him strut around in his underwear. I wanted to like him because I felt he was playing the game right (until the whole group discussion.)
Spencer: I didn't think I would like him, but I think he can be a good, likeable player. I actually believe he is in a good spot because I think Tasha and Kass will get rid of J'Tia next (which Tasha promised Kass) Not smug at all. Maybe one of my favorites so far.
David: Glad he's gone, but I would rather have seen J'Tia go. Not very smart by getting rid of Garrett at the First Impressions. He at least could have come up with a better reason than saying he's thinking about the last 2/3. Seriously, he could have said something like "I think the person deemed the weakest is going to be competing for a tribal reward." He should have been smart enough to know that three people would not be eliminated right away leaving five on a tribe. Tasha: She did nothing but scream and yell. I would like her a lot more if she didn't defend J'Tia.
Kass: Stronger player than I thought. I like her, but I'm baffled as to why she voted out Garrett.
J'Tia: How could she possibly not think she cost her tribe those challenges. Her lousy shelter likely cost them to lose the first because they were tired and weak. Her so-called "puzzle skills" definitely caused Luzon to lose the second. She cannot possibly deny that. Then she goes crazy and dumps the rice. Hope she goes next.

Morgan: Not too bright. I don't think she'll last long. Looks nice though.
Jefra: Didn't really see enough of her to form an opinion
    Alexis: Same as Jefra
LJ: He looks like a good leader. He took charge when his tribe was behind and isn't overbearing.
    Jeremiah: Same as Jefra/Alexis
Brice: Probably should have been a brain and Garrett should have been a beauty. I think he may be the dark horse who will suddenly run away with the game.

I hope those injuries don't force med evacs. I hate them and they ruin season for me.

Absolutely LOVE this season...loving it. It feels so old school, feels fresh and exciting with new people that seem to all have the key thing, PERSONALITY....which some casts have been lacking, I love it.

However, the brains tribe is terrible...I mean I like Spencer and Kass, but wtf...how do you simply reward a person who just threw you food away? That's a loose canon there, maybe she will burn someones clothes next, how do you keep that around?

I have to say my eyes would have a hard time not being fixated on Morgans tits, dear god...I mean those are some seriously awesome lookin pillows if you ask me.

Loving Cliff, Wu, LJ...so glad he stepped up and won that puzzle, good stuff.

Well that was an interesting episode. I went in thinking I would like the Brains tribe...turns out Spencer and Kass are the only two I can stand. I would have liked to see David stay a bit longer because I can't stand J'Tai and they're tribe is going to suffer by letting her stick around for a third time. I would have preferred her go over Garrett but that guy has douche written all over him and by far, the worst strategic player, let alone smart.

I would say that Brawn is my second favorite tribe - I like pretty much all of them except I didn't think Lindsey had any reason to get all defensive and blow the firewood thing right out of proportion. If there's any leaving, I'd say she's first.

Beauty....I think maybe Brice is the only one I can stand so far. The others are your stereotypical "I'm hot and everyone should believe it" which always makes me hope they get voted out next lol

    Should be an interesting season.

What a crazy start to the season. Watching Brains self-destruct is pretty interesting...I think they're all, ironically enough, over-thinking things. David picking Garrett, playing "the long game", was just ridiculous. They can't knock out three people in the first episode, of course he's not going! So him going after a blunder like that seemed fair (though honestly J'Tia would have been the better pick, Garrett should have stashed it for just a few more votes, but never forget what happened).

Garrett leaving I'm torn about. The whole "open forum" is a terrible idea, but it has happened before without it being a big deal. Though I'm thinking of Final 5, Final 6 type situations where the big alliance is picking off leftovers, the dynamic is probably different by then. My only explanation for Kass voting for him is she's thinking she wants to side with Spencer but not get stuck with Garrett (understandable), so she's taking the opportunity to kick him out, possibly a one time deal, whereas after the rice dump she'll have support to get rid of J'Tia at any time. The thing is, I think they sort of needed him to avoid losing. Having seen him in action, with his ego, I don't think he would have survived very long post merge so keeping him around probably wasn't that big of a problem. Kass even said that before the rice dumping she was about to flip, so I don't think she trusted Garrett at all.

    A few random tribe impressions:

Brains: Kass...for 95% of the episode I was thinking she had been deeply underestimated, but that final vote left me going "eh?" That was either a blunder or a great tactical play, too soon to tell. Spencer is nowhere near as cocky as I expected, seems likeable! I think I forget how much people play up a certain personality in their intro videos, but pretty soon the truth comes out. I think he wants to be cocky but he's secretly quite decent. Also with J'Tia, what she did was a bad, bad idea but I can sort of understand it. After that "open forum", you would feel so belittled and powerless, I kind of get the "well, I've got nothing to lose, so you're all coming down with me" lashing out.

Brawn: Sarah is a champ, I really like her. Assuming her and Tony bond, and Woo and Cliff continue to get along, Trish and Lindsey fighting may doom them both. Hoping Trish goes first though, what a scary looking woman. Lindsey is fun and seems good to keep around at least for the snark factor.

Beauty: I suspect Brice will stick around longer than people first thought. Jeremiah, Jefra and Alexis were all pretty invisible. LJ is great, he has a sort of effortless leader quality to him that I could work with (from what we saw anyway). Morgan however is, as I suspected, smug and annoying...but what looked like the beginning of a Brice-Jeremiah-Morgan alliance possibly means she's not going for awhile (although Brice's "us country folk have to stick together"...he works in Philadelphia! Maybe he hasn't lived there long).

Kass : "How did we come up with criteria for Brains ,I'd like to see that data..." That is the question of the day.

Awsome first episode(or first 2 episodes)...haven't laughed in a while like that, while watching Survivor. And blissful ignorance...I thought it's gonna be only 1 tribal council, but it turned out to be 2. There are few people that really surprised me in positive way. Sarah,LJ,Woo,Cliff,Kass,Tasha,Bryce...some are ok atm Tony,Trish,Spencer,Jeremiah...some are boring Lindsey,Alexis,Jefra,Morgan(though I did like her bs to team, she chose rice, shelter stuff,etc.)...some are idiots Garret,David and then there's big elephant in the room...J'tia.

Sarah is smart,likeable,funny...I could go on and on. Tasha really surprised me,as well as Kass. Thought Tasha gonna be quiet player, but she really wants to play game. You go girl Same again with Kass. And Bryce...those 3 could form alliance. LJ is also smart guy.

David revealed too much with him saying thinking of day 39...everyone is thinking of day 39 to some degree, but you don't lay all of your plans out in the open. I agree with someone saying,he should have said, that reason he picked Garret was coz he thought there'd be some twist in challenge....and Garrett...do I really wanna waste words and time on him?

J'tia...elephant in the room...if some don't know, about stuff we talked about pre-season,this might not make sense to you,but I was hoping J'tia would be voted off first time, for sure 2nd time(reason why the lost challenge, she dumped their food),but was also thinking of that talk we had with some people here, before pre-season and it seems it will turn out to be true.

They gonna get some storms and lots of rains...good,I want them to suffer, not just have 39 days of sunshine

Cricket, open your eyes you dope! Race is in everything nowadays! See sista Tasha run to Jtai's defense?! Are you blind? How can you not vote off Jtai after what she has done?

I don't even know what to say TBH.

The episode left me completely speechless.

Without doubt the extreme best premiere Survivor has ever offered (at least from those I have seen)!

I have to say I liked Spencer and J'Tia both - something I did not expect!

I REALLY love Sarah! She needs to dominate! Love her. And also really love Trish and Jefra!

I get a Kaalabaw edit from Solana - they could be the tribe that's just there to make up the numbers if my interpretation of the edit is accurate... but w'ell see.

I think of all seasons of Survivor, this cast chose the most outrageous underwear of all. Some girls like Morgan's are virtually non-existent (not that I mind) And then men either have outrageous colors, like Tony's bright red, or way too short like Garrett's. Just a simple observation there. I'm just saying you are on TV and I know are probably not caring in the jungle, but my goodness.
