Episode Summary

The two new tribes are dropped off of a truck and into the highlands of Brazil. Jeff announces both tribes will then vote for one person based on first impressions. The red tribe, Jalapao, vote Sandy. The black tribe, Timbira, vote Sierra. Both tribe mates are upset that they were the first to be singled out, but are able to skip the trek to camp and fly by helicopter. Meanwhile, all the other tribe mates have to walk in the heat to their campsite, carrying all their supplies. While they are alone at their respective campsites, both Sandy and Sierra read a letter with a clue to a hidden immunity idol. Sandy attempts to find the idol, while Sierra decides to make a shelter instead. The next morning, both tribes meet for their first Immunity Challenge which is won by Timbira. The Jalapao tribe returns to camp and many tribe mates agree that Sandy worked hard during the challenge, and that Carolina is bossy. But Sandy is not convinced that she is safe and continues looking for the immunity idol.moreless

  • Not a bad start at alL! I'm not sure if I'm particularly fond of the location, though....

    9.5
Interesting start to the new season! I wasnt' particularly excited with 'Tocantins: The Brazilian Highlands' as the location choice, but it should hopefully be an interesting chnage!

The beginning was great! Both tribes 'vtoing someone off' based on first impressions, but the person voted off got a free helicopter ride to acamp, instead of the 4-hour (no joke, FOUR HOURS) trek to camp!

I loved how Sandy started searching for an idol! She seems hilarious and great to watch! I wonder if she will find it!?! Menawhile, Sierra approaches the game with a different taxtic. By the time Timbira gets back to camp, she has a full shelter built! OWOSW!!!! WOW!!! Amazing!!!

The first challenge was interesting! i thought Timbira was done for and Jalapao (aka Jalapino) had it in the bag due to Sandy, but things changes and Timbira won!

SO it seemed to me as though Sandy was done for! I thought wshe might find the idol, though! Instead, Carolina gets blindsided! Wow, I wasn't expecting it! But she did seem likeable, so I'm not too happy with it.

Can't wait for the next one! Good start to the season already!!!moreless
  • Good start to a new season of Survivor

    9.0
OK, the season premier of "Survivor Tocantins" got off to a strong start with a twist right away. The two tribes, Jalapao and Timbira, without any time to know each other were to vote for one of their tribe mates and chose the member that would not make the trek back to camp with them. This made the contestants believe that they were voting someone out of the game on day one. After Jalapao chose Sandy and Timbira chose Sierra Jeff revealed that the two chosen would be flown back to camp via helicopter and would have a chance to either build a shelter or find an immunity idol. Sierra decided to build shelter while Sandy tried to find the idol but she couldn't because she did not know what a pace was. At the immunity challenge, Timbira won forcing Jalapao to vote off their first member. At tribal council they voted out Carolina because she was too bossy saving Sandy for at least one more episode. The vote was a little surprising, but not a complete shocker. From the first episode, I like Jalapao more at the moment, but Timbira is stronger.moreless
  • Good Start

    9.0
Promising start to the season, but Sandy was really getting on my nerves with all of the drama. Like, seriously? Too many tears in the first couple of minutes of the episode. I liked the "surprise" vote but at the same time I didn't think they were going to trim away the survivors just to trim away the survivors. 18 I could have seen it being serious, but not with 16. Only one challenge in the opening episode, which is come to be expected. Solid challenege with our first come-from-behind win of the season.

The vote was made out to be this big drama between Sandy and Carolina, but I think we all knew Caroline was going after her performance compared with Sandy's in the challenege. She had nothing to match up against in terms of raw strengh. Overall, Sandy will kick it soon she's too annoying not to rub someone the wrong way and I think the Black tribe is better then the Red tribe so I wouldn't be surprised to see a couple of back breaking episodes here to start the season for the red team.moreless
  • First impressions, do count!

    9.5
This is the second, time that the show has been filmed in Brazil. First time, it was the Amazon. As it was a great show. The ones that got voted out, got to fly by, a helicopter. Meaning Sierra and Sandy. While the others, took a four mile hike. The two women, really helped their tribes, in the challenges. But Sierra's team pulled to victory. Carolina with her bossy attitude, and her whiny voice. Made her, the first casualty, in the group. Survivor lesson #1 is this...Keep your mouth shut. Survivor lesson #2 Do your job. Even though, he can get annoyed. Jeff was really a jerk in this episode. He really had a pretty, bad attitude.moreless
  • Starting the season with a twist!

    8.0
Every season of Survivor starts off a bit on the slow side as it takes time to learn who the interesting people are and so forth.

It was interesting to see the two tribes pick a person from each tribe to be separated right off the bat. The two handled the voting in different ways with Sandy openly unhappy and Sierra citing a health condition for her poor look.

After that, it was standard in terms of setting up shelters and typical fare though Coach came off as a very strong personality in both the private confessionals and on the way to camp. By the looks of things, he'll either go all the way to the finals or be voted out early.

A good start and the first one voted out wasn't a huge surprise as people who are boisterous usually becaome early targets. Hopefully, this will be a great season!moreless
