Survivor has gradually become a predictable and boring show to watch with this season being the worst season yet! It is touted as the best of the best, but should be titled the tagalongs and the bully.
The truly great players are voted off leaving mean and under the wire players.
Gone are the true survivor seasons where players actually had to survive, find food, make fire, build shelters, work hard, had tough challenges...
Now it is a food, reward, and puzzle game. They eat large amounts of food, are given spices, knives, tarps, chairs, pillows, blankets, decorations, fishing spears, snorkeling gear, boats, and more. Add in helicopter rides, boat rides, spas, and showers...
After last night's tribal, I will not watch the rest of this season. Jeff Probst should apologize to Malcolm. A gang up on one person by two tribes was awful. What did you think would happen Jeff! A weak player would be voted off!
That won't happen!
I used to watch it with my kids, we loved the challenges, but now it is just mean-spirited and showcases bullies and disloyalty. Who needs to watch that. Enough of that stuff in the real world to deal with.
Sandra is a bully with her mean look on her face, her cussing, her antagonizing and threatening others, and the calling of herself Queen. She is the worst style of Survivor player. I will not watch her. Tai is the second worse with his disloyalty to a true friend and teammate. You rooted for him last time, but this season he has shown his true inner self and it is ugly.
Very disappointed. You've lost a from the beginning Survivor fan!
Seriously, this season is making me nauseous with all of the drama! If I want to feel like I do when I'm watching the 2016 season of Survivor, I can do any of the following: visit family for an overly extended period of time, enter an online chat room full of Trolls that I can't stand or lament my decision to ever marry my soon to be ex-wife! Why would I spend precious time watching TV when it causes such pain and irritation????
All I can hope is that I'm not alone???? Please share if you're with me & also share if you think I'm off my rocker????
Rarely have I seen individuals go from feeling "less than" to "egomaniac" in the span of 3-4 weeks, but it's spreading like a friggin' virus on this season of Survivor! Unbelievably annoying!!!!
Brauns fail, Scenario 1: Scot/Tai play their idols, both know they are getting votes, both are safe, they are wasting their idols anyways with "super idol". Scenario 2: Jason keeps his idol and waits to give it to Scot, until after Tai gives his to Scott, Jason keeps his wasted idol. Scenario 3: Tai plays his extra vote and wins 4:3 Scenario and still has an idol on his team with super idol 4: Tai votes for the "right" person and it's tied 3:3, then plays the immunity idol for himself, has an immunity idol on his team, and still has his extra vote power. ALL SCENARIOS, he is 3:4 in the minority, but they have a good chance, finding idols, immunity, and people wanting to bring them to the end because no one likes them on jury. VOTING OUT SCOTT: LOSE LOSE, no one would have voted for Scot to win the million, the girls will just turn on Tai, no one trusts Tai now after betraying a team that saved his butt, he is a fake chicken! Future: Tai gets voted out next episode and goes him with his idol after being played by the girls.
Survivor's new theme should be: out cheat, out lie, out manipulate. My family and I are so disappointed in the new focus of Survivor within the last couple of years. The show is not about Surviving but simply cheating, lieing and drama. Just another show with a superficial story and lack of morals. Great way to ruin a great show.
I started a Survivor fan site @ . There's a members area where you can create your own groups and forums, communicate with other survivor fans on topics and strategy. You can even get a free survivor blog, where you can blog about everything survivor. It's all free and I would love to get as many survivor fans as possible discussing our favorite game. check us out if you have time.
I am very disappointed that Survivor executives allowed Missy to continue to stay in the game and not do challenges. If a player cannot participate in the challenges, they need to lkeave the game. I have watched every show, every season since Season 1.
Awesome reality show I wish I could go on the show, health reason keeps me away but I love watching it cant miss the show I have Wednesdays off so I dont miss it, I noticed they don't give a car away anymore but it's still my #1 show over any other show out there keep it going stong can you Outwit, Outplay and Outlast on Survivor I would like to try it
America should be proud of the broadcast effort made by Survivor. It has accumulated millions of views all over the world, take me for example, I am one of these international viewers; from Australia and loving the show. I have watched the show since I can remember and sneaking up to watch it late at night well and truly after my bedtime. As a film student it has occurred to me that the quality of film has evolved over time and the crewmembers do an outstanding job to achieve the series that everyone jumps to criticize.
It seems to me that a lot of people take time to criticize without understanding the true nature of the show, for example; it's not often you get a television series that lasts 14 years and not have any evidence of backlash within the decrease of viewers, yes people might get bored with it, but the directors, editors and crew members work as hard as they can to keep up with viewers demands and expectation, they have revolutionized the games which are bigger, better. They change locations every year and may even put in a twist and when people complain about the strategy side being full of liars, manipulation, disloyalty, corruptness, etc. It's because 9/10 of the players have watched all or close to all seasons of Survivor and for those whom haven't watched, the episodes go for about 40 minutes and about 15 minutes is the physical game play, the rest is all strategy play. The game does become more focused on strategy because over the years it's like the Russian nesting doll effect, the strategy gets bigger and bigger. But I do agree on peoples opinion with the fact that the survival part is too easy, I always remember when the players had to kill chickens and survive like they would in a genuine survival situation. Within the legal obligations a lot has changed over the past 14 years and I suspect that they have a large influence to how genuine the survival experience can be.
Regardless of what opinions are merged, just remember that the motto is Outwit-Outplay-Outlast.
After watching Blood vs Water and Cagayan,I noticed a surprising thing, and no,it's not the snakes and spiders are real. It's always the bad guy that wins. And I mean literally win the million. Blood vs Water, every time I watch the vote and Tyson isn't voted out,I point my middle finger at him and tell him to suck a dick. But in Cagayan,I didn't care much, even though Tony won. See,they let the villains win,so they can talk their ass off so they win. Even my cousin agrees the show is rigged. A good format, but a secret idea that makes me think twice when a new season comes out.
Why are people still crying about Survivor bringing back returning players? Agreed, they used to do it often, but you do realize that 3 of the last 5 seasons were all new players, don't you? Including the last 2 seasons. And that in 29 seasons, only twice has there ever been a full blown all stars season. You need to quit recycling the same complaints, and stop being a sheep in regards to just voicing others' opinions.
People had those opinions years ago, when Survivor actually WAS bringing back returning players at an alarming rate. They no longer are, so it's time to grasp that fact because your argument is no longer valid.
Breaking down the numbers alone, the last 9 seasons, 168 people have played. Only 27 were returning players, 141 were new. And 20 of those 27 returning players were in 2 seasons alone. Which means that only 7 returning players have competed in the other 7 seasons.
So the "over and over" point, and the "sick and tired of watching old players" point, is pretty silly. Plus, why threaten to quit watching. Just quit. I enjoy whatever format they use. I prefer new players, and I think the majority of fans do as well. That's been reflective in the ratings the last 5 seasons, and in the shows willingness to start doing seasons of all new players again.
I hate this blood vs water shows it's to overly emotional with husband &wife, moms & daughters, ect, their emotion just goes on and on, it's just to mushy, all the crying, hugging . I like it with all different faces with all their personalities clashing with each other, making new friends, challenges were fun to watch. Please no more family members competing with each other, or bringing the same old people back over and over again we want different.
Am I the only one who is sick and tired of watching old contestants over and over again? I swore during the last one that if they continued to do it I would stop watching, and I will. And i think there is something wrong with the format when swearing on the life on your children that your are telling the truth when you are lying to someone's face is ultimately rewarded. I thought that was the lesson of Russell. You could only go so far without some attempt at honesty. Tony's win has changed that dynamic as well, making the show lacking in moral tension. I used to love this show, but I feel like I'm watching reruns. Enough already! Bring in some new blood!
I think the people that were voted off first should be brought back. They might have been some great players if they had gotten the chance. It's hard to get to really know someone in three days.
What kind of message is being sent to our young viewers when lying, breaking promises and back stabbing is being rewarded by being declared the qualities you need to win? Anybody should have been the winner other than Tony.
i love watching survivor and am a huge fan. my suggestion for a sweet new season of survivor is... make a season called celebrity survivor and have the money go to charity. i think it would b huge.... lets make this happen jeff probst...
Where has this show gone... I agree with ember301 below. This show used to be about real smarts, clever maneuvering, building of alliances, strategy and tactics and has gone the way of totally premeditated deceit, lying, swearing on your fathers grave, wife and children and ignoring all of that and for the producers to now be promoting some life saving story for Tony the totally twisted cop with no values or moral base has all become too much. They come on your show knowing now one thing and one thing only, they must be dishonest from the start no matter what and the more they are the more likely they might win. And what another piece of fabricated / staged show business to try and make him seem better and your show through that "life saving" story and stunt as well. And you present in the reunion portion a bunch of children to further bolster your vain attempt at trying to make your show still seem like it is ethical or virtuous???? You are creating and developing some terrible role modelling for young children and audiences. Promoting the Survivor concept of openly cheating, lying, deceit, swearing on family members lives and graves with total disdain and with no regard for the effects you will be having on so many that are not even realizing what you are really pulling off, you should know better. Tony should have been eliminated episodes before last night and you should introduce some guidelines / rules for the sake of your especially younger susceptible audiences. Your show may be still getting some numbers and bringing you the almighty - no matter what $$$$$, but your obvious lack of regard for any values and terrible promoting / encouraging of such despicable behaviour should be reviewed by some higher authourity in television or media and your program should be either banned, regulated or brought back to what is once was a refreshing reality show of human survival and not some "social experiment" or "its a game" as you call it, which is just another attempt at somehow justifying your crooked and warped current production. Please think about what lessons you are bringing to the many young audiences and the effect that will have in the future. And stop bringing back people who have already been on before who clearly have an unfair advantage over others and often behave even worse than the first time. Tony should not be allowed to be a cop much less win for the way he did it. And to orchestrate a Lieutenant to be at the reunion and speak to his character and so obviously staged what are you all thinking??? He is totally undeserving of any praise or recognition and should only be seeking out professional help for what are obviously some deeply rooted mental and emotional problems to have behaved the way he did! Tony is a bully, plain and simple, something we are all actively trying identify and eliminate more in everyday society and you promote it? Your show has lost it and Jeff, you are a great guy but this is on you as well. You are an EP and seem to have some good common sense, smarts and values but to let this go on and keep promoting it as you do under the guise of being something good or amazing. Please get a reality check on yourselves. You are promoting and encouraging the lowest, meanest and basest levels of human behaviour. Its over for me and many of my friends.
So disappointed. My family and I were "into" Survivor, but ultimately now realize it is not about those who truly should win. It is about deceit, manipulation, disrespect, disloyalty, corruptness, etc. We wanted it to be a game of smarts, loyalty, respect, fairness, and smart strategy (not "no-good strategy). Tony is of no character whatsoever. Watching him, we abhored him. Actually, he made us dislike "cops" if that is how they play the game, which is probably how they do it. Manipulation; fabrication; lying. It is disheartening to view this with family as a healthy medium. In this last contest, we rooted for Spencer or Tasha. They were smart and showed character and integrity. Plus Tasha won so many immunities. Rather it is a game about how people can use and manipulate others. That is not what survivor should be about? What is this world coming to when this is what is viewed as "winners"? Tony a winner? Really? We found him to be the most vile a characters. He used people; deceived people; vowed on his father's grave. Please... is this the message we want to sent our young people? We are back to the Roman forums. I am so dismayed as to where TV is going. Even though we were disappointed in Wu, at least we thought he showed some form of character. Survivor will no longer be on our family watch agenda, although we know it will continue to be popular since this is the state of where our morals and aspirations seem to be. As a teacher for over 35 years, I find it appalling that people would consider the "winner" to be one who lied, cheated, disrespected, manipulated, badgered, etc. Enough said.
I am a big Survivor fan, but I am really having trouble with this group. They just voted out one of the more interesting contestants, and no one else seems worth watching. So I'm going to take a leave from the rest of this series and wait for something more interesting to happen in later series.
I have to agree with a lot of people saying that survivor is getting stale. In my honest opinion it is because the show keeps bringing people back to play again. When Survivor first started airing I looked forward to seeing the next cast of new characters. Then, they started bringing people back to compete again. The ultimate goal is to win the 1 million dollar prize. So, why are you bringing people back who have already won? Give others a chance. Keep the show fresh with new faces. It seems now all you want is drama. Example, "Co_ton the Quitter" should have never been allowed back. There are millions of people who genuinely want to play, so let them. Let's bring back the "Survivor" people really fell in love with!
One real problem I had with the reunion show... prior to this, if you quit the game you weren't invited back to the reunion. But this season, Colton, who quit... and who Jeff suggested faked his injury the first time he left, was invited back on the show. When he left this season Jeff Probst made it pretty obvious that the appendicitis wasn't real and that this was Colton leaving a second time? So how does he rate an invite back? Was it the only way to get Caleb back?? Did Probst say something he shouldn't have about the first "medical evacuation? Or did they simply not want it to look like they didn't invite back part of the only homosexual couple in the show??
whatever the reason, I didn't think he deserved to be there.
Not a review but a suggestion, during each episode display the temperature on screen so we are aware of what they are experiencing. In blood vs. water it didn't realize they were playing in 110 degree temperature humidity level would be good too
I used to enjoy survivor as my number one favorite show. Well, it slide down the list. The problem with the show is... its too predictible and boring. Two teams get formed. One is the winning ream, the others are the weaker team. During that time, alliences and even stronger resentments are shown, escpecially on the more dominating teams. Then, when the teams merge, the tribe with more numbers picks off the other team (where they finally put aside thier diffrences) and then the outcasts of the team. Then, the head of the allience wins and takes 2 playes to the end where the most bullying player ends up winning. Total Drama is a more exciting, less predictable show I`d prefer over this.
Love love love survivor, never missed a season!! I have a feeling that 27 is going to be shocker and perhaps they will have loved ones competing against each other... Mother & Daughter, Brothers etc. If its going to be the "theme"... I cannot wait for 27!
