Episode Summary

EDIT
The final five are Susie, Sugar, Kenny, Matty and Bob. Sugar tells Bob she wants to take him and Matty to the final three. Later when Sugar and Kenny check tree mail, she makes Kenny think she'll take him to the final three. When the tribe returns to camp from the immunity challenge, Kenny feels confident he is safe when Matty approaches him about voting Susie out. But before Tribal Council, Sugar is thinking twice about the vote. The next morning, Susie knows she will be the next to go unless she wins immunity. After Matty gets tree mail, the final four embark on their Rites of Passage honoring all their previous tribe mates voted out. After the final Immunity Challenge, everyone returns to camp and Matty and Sugar both agree to vote out Bob. However, Sugar then thinks maybe they should force a tie and let fate decide who should go. The next morning, the final three wake up on their last day in Gabon. They check their Tree Mail, but find a huge breakfast feast instead. After breakfast, Bob, Sugar and Susie set fire to their shelter and watch it burn. Later that night, the final three head to their final Tribal Council and face the jury's comments and questions.moreless

  • I liked the winner, but I would have preferred it to go the other way...

Congrats to Bob! He was such a great guy and I loved watching him play! That said, he was my fourth favourieste remaining castaway - only ahead of Ken - and after Ken went, he was actually my least favourite, but I still loved him!

The house of carsd was so tricky!! Susie winning it was epic! I was glad that Bob was going, but little miss Sugar had other ideas. I thought it was just dumb to force a tie, but I still love Sugar! She had a better chance to defeat Matty in the Final, although not mby much...

Congrats Bob! The finale was great, with two epic Immunity Challenges!!! Can't wait for more!!!moreless
  • Glad that a nice guy won!

Glad that a nice guy has won and also he is the oldest person to ever win. At 57-years old, Bob Crowley really was underestimated. And everybody thought that he would be gone. Due to his age. But he gave others the feeling. That age is just a number. Because older people are voted out first of all. But Bob, also gave us the Arts and Crafts show with Bob. Pulled off two fake idols. Proving that indeed a nice guy can win. Hate it that Corrine, the witch, said that to Sugar. Glad she didn't say that to me. Because if she did, I would jump up and really let her have it. Sugar had a lot of class with that. Wouldn't mind if Matty would had won as he is a nice guy too. Susie was underestimated. But getting her to the final three. Made the predictable unpredicatable.moreless
  • Finally a winner that made me happy to watch the show. It has been a long time since they had a winner I liked.

Bob won, he played the game well and when everyone around him was overconfident about their position in the tribe, Bob just kept working to stay alive. I must say that Sugar played a good game, Susie was so far under the radar I thought she was going to pull a Panama style from nowhere victory.

Bob, was the only member of his tribe left, he made two great fake immunity idols, and both were better than the real thing that Sugar found. Bob was creative around camp, got fire, fished and made himself a part of any tribe he was with.

When he went on to win 5 challenges in a row to tie Colbys record that was beyond impressive. Colby was a stud, Bob is a thin Physics teacher who looked like he was a prisoner of war.

He outplayed and outlasted the others. It was only fitting that the guy who got burnt by the fake idol would cast the deciding vote for Bob, over Susie and the cookie.moreless

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (4)

    • Bob published his autobiography in 2009 titled "Making Waves: The Stories of Maine's Bob Crowley" but was not allowed to mention his involvement with "Survivor". It was later discovered that Bob had previously taught Julie Berry (from "Vanuatu"). He would later retire from teaching in August 2009.

    • Sugar joins Kelly Wiglesworth from Borneo, and Courtney Yates and Amanda Kimmel from China as the only players ever to reach the final without a single vote cast against them during the course of the season and not win the game.

    • Jessica "Sugar" Kiper did not have a single vote cast against her all the way to the final, and received no votes to win at the final. Thus, she holds the unique distinction of playing an entire season without her name being written down at any Tribal Council.

    • At age 58, Bob becomes the oldest "Survivor" winner and is also now the oldest player ever to reach a final, surpassing Kim Johnson of "Africa" (season 3), who was 56 at time of filming. Bob is also the sixth parent and fourth father to win the game, the first in either category since Tom Westman from Palau. He is also the first married winner since Tom.
