Episode Summary

EDIT
Finally, the two tribes are set to merge into one. Jenna and Sean serve as ambassadors for their tribes, meeting at one another's camp to discuss where the new tribe should stay. At the end of their pow-wow, which includes dinner, a warm bed, and wine, the two finally decide on Tagi beach, naming the new tribe Rattana. Once merged, the Pagong members annoy Rudy, and the women attempt to fix things up around camp while the men relax. Greg wins the first-ever individual immunity challenge, and at the confusing tribal council, Gretchen becomes the victim of a strong Tagi alliance. The tribe has spoken.moreless

  • It's amazing how nobody cares about alliances!

    10
I know this is the first season and all, but it still astounds me that nobody other than the foursome on Tagi have collaborated to form an alliance. This is definitely not something that goes on in the current seasons. We also had seven different names pop up at the Tribal Council, which i s also unheard of in the current seasons.

It's really interesting, because if one or two more votes go the way of that alliance, then they could very easily find themselves in the Final Four together.

I enjoyed the episode because of the ambassadors visiting camps and then going and having the most awesome day on the sand spit. That was entertaining, and if I was one of the other castaways, I would have been very jealous.

Overall, I do hope some of these other players get their acts together and can come up with some better strategic plays. And on one last note, I really enjoyed the Immunity Challenge! :)moreless
  • In this episode, Gretchen becomes the first victim of the Tagi alliance and was shocked to be voted out of the tribe.

The episode started with Sean and Jenna as serving as ambassadors for their tribes and decide to live at Tagi's beach and call their new tribe Rattana. Later Rich, Kelly, Rudy, and Sue plot against the old Pagong tribe and choose Gretchen as their next target. At the immunity challenge Greg won individual immunity in a close race with Sean. At the tribal council Colleen, Gervase, Jenna, Sue, Rich, and Rudy all receive one vote, but Gretchen was shocked to the first person to be voted out of Rattana by receiving only 4 votes by the Tagi alliance. This was a great episode that shows that the old Pagong needs to form their own alliance.moreless
  • Gretchen becomes the victim!

    6.8
Sadly hate it that Gretchen had to go like this

But they did have a strong Tagi alliance as Pagong

Did know what was going on because that is the first

Time and will be used from now on during Surivor as

Sean usues his ABC strategy to make sure that the Tagi

Will be safe and the rest of Pagong will be gone!

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • The three items from Pagong that Sean and Jenna choose to bring to the Tagi camp are the wool blankets, the mosquito net, and the cooking pot.

    • At Tribal Council, a record number of castaways receive votes. While Gretchen gets the majority of the votes (from Richard, Susan, Rudy, and Kelly), the other six players who receive votes are Richard (from Colleen), Susan (from Gervase), Gervase (from Jenna), Jenna (from Greg), Colleen (from Sean), and Rudy (from Gretchen). This is also the first episode where Sean employs his alphabetical voting strategy.

  • QUOTES (15)

  • NOTES (2)

    • Greg wins the Immunity Competition, "Snake Island Relay," ensuring him safety for three days. The game, which consists of two parts, is mostly about holding your breath. The first round is a simple challenge of holding your breath, and the last three to come up for air, Sean, Gervase, and Greg, qualify for the second round, which involves the players to use a horizontal ladder to propel themselves through the water, all while holding their breath.

    • Gretchen is the first to be voted out of the newly-merged tribe, Ratanna, in this episode.

  • ALLUSIONS (1)

    • This episode gave rise to the now-universally accepted term "Pagonging", which is when one of the initial tribes' members agree to all continue to vote the same way together after the merge to pick off members of the other former tribe. What made this situation unique was that the Tagi alliance of Rich, Susan, Rudy, and Kelly was able to start the 'Pagonging' despite not having a clear majority over the former Pagongs.
