In an Entertainment Weekly interview, Host Jeff Probst rated this season as his second-to-last favorite out of the first nine seasons. He said that "Marquesas was the worst location ever. I will never go back to the Marquesas – ever" because of the sandflies and the heat. "I just felt like Marquesas never got any momentum," he said. "And by the time you got to the final two with Neleh and Vecepia, I'm sleeping." In the article, he also apologized for the rock tie-breaker. However, he points out that no rules were broken – "it's just not what we meant to happen."
