Episode Summary

When Sarita joins Matt on Redemption Island, the two talk about her tribe's dynamics and Matt starts to consider a Zapatera alliance. The next morning, both tribes receive tree mail telling them they will all witness the duel. Before the duel starts, Jeff announces that whoever wins will re-enter the game. Matt wins the duel and he and everyone else are given new tribe buffs, officially confirming a merge. When the tribe arrives at their new beach, they are welcomed with a feast and Rob suggests "Murlonio" as the new tribe name. That night, Matt tells Andrea he is considering a big move in order to eventually vote out Rob. The next morning, Rob sees Mike, Matt and Andrea reading the bible and says he wants to break up that camaraderie. After the Immunity Challenge, Matt confesses to Rob that he had considered joining a Zapatera alliance, but that his faith in God led him to stay with his former Ometepe tribe mates. Matt's confession leads Rob to tell his alliance to send Matt to Redemption Island again. But Mike comes up his own plan to vote Grant out.moreless

  • It sure was slack for one competitor! (Spoilers!)

This was a good episode, in which we had the Tribal Merge! I really loved the naming process of this tribe, in which Rob takes 'Murlonio', which is a stuffed animal from Amber's collection, and pretends it means, 'from the sea, united'! That was funny stuff!

Phillip continues to be a comic relief! I absolutely love this guy. Woh else on this planet could act the way this guy does?! He is so funny! His tyrade at Tribal Countcil was hilarious, and his wobbly start to the Challene was humorous!

As for poor Matt, to enter the game for barely a day, and then go straight back to Redemption Island - that is rough! I still think he can re-re-enter, but who knows?

All up, a great suspenseful episode! I definitely want Ometepe to flourish, and Zapatera to crumble - and that is what will hopefully happen! Go Phillip!moreless
  • Ometeppe and Zapaterra merge to form Murlonio. Matt once again triumphs at Redemption Island and returns to the game, but not for long.

    7.0
After this episode ended, I became Matt's biggest supporter. Not only do I hope he gets back in the game, I hope he wins it all. That does not mean however that he is the perfect player. Matt should have realized that making his feelings known about possibly joining with the Zapaterras would come back to haunt him. As soon as Rob heard that, he set his sights on Matt. Rob is beginning to get crazier than Phillip. His complaints about Matt, Mike and Andrea's Bible readings were very odd. It's going to get very interesting from here on in.moreless
  • Explosive episode...Looks like Rob learned a lot from Russell:)Now these amateurs will see that without Russell this will transform into a horror movie.

I love how relaxed was Grant...He had 5 votes up and he was smiling:)

Unexpected episode...Rob thought it out brilliantly...The old saying "love treason, hate traitors" applied here...Rob realized Matt can't be trusted...To be specific, when he presented himself all submissive to Rob he realized it was a loose cannon...With Andrea and Phillip already not trust worthy entirely, to take out Matt would have been suicide...What's surprising is even though this was a pivotal episode and situation in the winning of the game by Omaetepe, it wasn't really that hard...Now Rob and his group have a great chance to take the Zapatera apart...I appreciated the loyalty of Farmer Ralph but he'll be eaten alive just like the other Zapatera...Was disappointed in Mike at the Immunity challenge he could surely have won, yet he gave up so easy... I just hope Boston Rob will be merciless against Zapatera, and will take them out 1 by 1.moreless

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • Rob joins Parvati Shallow, Amanda Kimmel, and Rupert Boneham as the only "Survivor" contestants who have now been part of three merged tribes.

    • For the second time in the show's history, a contestant was voted out of their tribe twice and had their torch snuffed two individual times in the same season. The first time was Burton from "Pearl Islands". This is also the second time in history a contestant that was previously voted out returns to the game in the same season (this also occurred in "Pearl Islands" with Burton and Lillian).

  • QUOTES (6)

    • Matt: (after being sent to Redemption Island for a second time) I like these people. I want to be friends with these people but they don't want to be friends with me and apparently I'm just not very good at this game of Survivor.

    • Matt: Here I am, at the crossroads between keeping my word and breaking my word.

    • Andrea: It's extremely risky for me to jump at this point but I'm keeping my options open.

    • Matt: (after rejoining at the merge) Now, I've got a couple of options. I could either go with Ometepe or I can go with Zapatera but I got to be careful. I mean, one slip up out here and you're gone.

    • Mike: (referring to Rob) I'm ready to get into the ring and go toe to toe with that guy.

    • Matt: Up until this point, I was saying that it'd be better for me to hop back on the train with Ometepe but if all goes as planned and I can win the duel, it would be quite the opportune moment to strike and take out the entire Ometepe tribe.
