Ryan "Ryno" Opray from "Survivor: Pearl Islands" makes a live cameo in the audience when Mary says she loves him.

All three of the remaining favorites improved on their previous finishes. Parvati was most improved on her previous seventh place finish in "Cook Islands", by coming in 1st in Micronesia. Amanda improved on her 3rd place finish in "China" by finishing 2nd in Micronesia. Finally, Cirie improved in Micronesia coming in 3rd compared to her previous finish of 4th place in "Panama".

For the first time in "Survivor" history, the final four contestants are all females. It was also the first time that an eight member jury decided the winner at the end.

From a production point of view, for a final five situation, this episode marks the first time that every vote was revealed before Jeff's official tally of the vote.

Erik is the final male player to be eliminated from the game, and his ouster guarantees the first female "Survivor" winner since Danni Boatwright in Guatemala in season 11.

Amanda has now lasted 36 days in this "Survivor" installment. Combined with her 39 days in China, she now holds the record for longest time playing as a "Survivor" contestant. She breaks the previous record held by Tom Buchanan, who played for 73 days total in two appearances (37 in Africa, 36 in All-Stars).

Erik is the second castaway ever (Jolanda Jones from Palau was the first) to win an individual immunity challenge and get voted off in the same episode. He is also the first castaway ever to surrender immunity to another player at Tribal Council and end up being voted off.

This is the first time in series history that two contestants are eliminated in a single post-merge episode.

Goof: During the auction, Amanda can be seen in the background eating the sandwich she has not yet purchased.

Ozzy is the third contestant (after Amber in "All-Stars" and Stephenie in "Guatemala") to play the game twice and make the final in one and sit on the jury in the other.

With Eliza's ouster (along with Ami's from the last episode), the Vanuatu season is now officially eliminated and becomes the first season represented by more than one castaway to be eliminated from the "Favorites."

This is the first time since the first season, "Survivor: Borneo", that the contestants have eaten rat.

With Jonathan's removal and Chet's ouster, this is the third time in series history for five consecutive male players to be voted out at any point in the season.

Jonathan's leg doesn't have a bandage on it when he climbs in the boat and says goodbye to Jeff.

With Yau Man's elimination, the Fiji season has now been eliminated from the game.

After Jeff snuffs Mary's torch and she exits, the camera twice shows Mary still seated at the Tribal Council area during his closing remarks to Airai.

All returning players this season are competing for the second time. They all made it to the jury phase in their previous appearance.

In a Reality TV Magazine interview (1/27/2010), Jeff Probst stated snuffing out Johnny Fairplay's torch was the only instance up to that point that he had no sad emotion about a torch snuffing. He also stated production regretted bringing back a "quitter" in their mind.

With Jonny Fairplay's elimination, the Pearl Islands season is now no longer represented by the "Favorites" and becomes the first season eliminated.
