Survivors (1975)

Show Summary

Welcome to the Survivors guide at TV.com.

Survivors is a 38-episode drama series about the aftermath of a virulent plague that has wiped out 95% of the Earth's population. The drama centres around the fortunes of a group of survivors in England, principally Abby Grant, Jenny Richards, Greg Preston and Charles Vaughan. The first season (1975) concerns the coming together of Abby, Jenny and Greg and their foundation of a community at a country grange, the second (1976) sees Jenny and Greg join Charles's settlement at Whitecross (1976), while the third (1977) has Charles and Jenny search for the absent Greg and attempt to restore hydro-electric power to the nation. Made at a time when viewers weren't perceived as idiots and characters and plot development didn't come second to special effects, Survivors is one of the most engrossing drama series ever made.

  • A virus from a laboratory kills off the vast mojority of the human race. Survivors are heading for hard times.

Even if it\'s a very long time since I saw only the first season and a half of this show it never slips my mind. The sudden breakdown of civilization as we know it is heartbreaking in itself. To observe the long and hard struggle to make life seem tolerable as everything goes from bad to worse is something I never forget.

No matter the hazards Nature may bring the worst perils come from people who are obsessed with weird agendas, and the most positive counterbalance comes from humans who happens to have courage and moral instincts to do what\'s right.

The person gallery is impressive. I remember a sniper was trying to kill my favourite character of the show, and I sharply fell I \'knew\' her.

It would be great to see it again.moreless

Revolution is just one of a glorious line of apocalyptic shows that feature(d) locks so lustrous you'd swear there was an entire hair-and-makeup department hidden within those smoking ruins.
