  • Another strong episode where the group meets John, a man who has found God, or has he?

    9.0
This was another good episode where the group meets another group led by a man called John who claims to be led by God. It turns out that he is a paranoid schizophrenic and a rather dangerous one too. His girlfriend is heavily pregnant and has her baby within a short time of arriving at the house. Because of the complications, Anya has to reveal that she used to be a doctor. She also confesses to Abby that her former love was a woman. Tom overhears this and is very unhappy. Overall, a strong episode with promises of a good final episode next to come.moreless

    • Abby: You really believe he talks to you?
John: I can hear him as clearly as talking to you now.
Abby: And how do you know it's God?
John: How many other invisible supernatural beings are there?
      (They chuckle.)
John: You don't have to call it 'God', if it makes you uncomfortable. It's just a word for something greater than ourselves, and that's all. You know, there's such beauty in the world… if only we could all learn to embrace it.
Abby: It's a strange time to talk about beauty, when people have just lost everything.
John: We can wither in grief, or we can choose to live again. Which would you prefer?

    • Tom: Why didn't you tell me you were a dyke? I'm sorry… lesbian. It's a nice word for it, isn't it? All that stuff you were saying about the woman you love. Made me want to throw up.
Anya: I don't have to justify my life to you.
Tom: I like to know what I'm dealing with.

    • Anya: Are you okay?
Najid: John's talking to God, in his champagne glass. [ whispering ] I think he's drunk.

    • Abby: We really don't know anything about each other, do we? We've lived together all these weeks and… and we're still strangers.
Greg: Well, maybe it's better that way.

    • (Linda is in labour.)
Sarah: Does anyone actually know how to do this?
Abby: Having a baby doesn't make you an expert in delivering them.

    • Tom: Did the creep try something on? Just say the word and I'll break his neck.
      Anya [ laughing ]: That's very chivalrous.

    • Aalim: Just doing the Christian thing.
      Najid: You're a Muslim.
      Aalim: Figure of speech.
