Episode Summary

EDIT
A Bright and Shiny Future
AIRED:
The Pastmaster returns and sends the Swat Kats through one of his time portals and into Megakat City's future, where Mac and Molly Mange rule a nightmare world of killer robots (called "Metallitack Units"), confining "non-metallic creatures" to slave labor camps, and the vigilantes' friends are rebel freedom-fighters. But the worst part is that the Swat Kats' future selves are dead, killed by the Metallikats when they took over. Now, it's up to the pilots from the past to set things right. But when the older Callie and Mayor Manx are kidnapped by the Metallitack Units, the Swat Kats form an uneasy alliance with the Pastmaster, who wants revenge against Mac and Molly for doublecrossing him. Together with Commander Feral and Felina, they storm Metallikat Headquarters.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (6)

    • Razor says he's going to give the Pastmaster "a one-way ticket back to the past" before chucking him back into the time vortex they just came out of. But, wouldn't this send him right back to the future they just left?

    • Also, in the present Pops' fur is dark gray, but in the future it's light brown.

    • What happens to Pops? He just disappears after the Pastmaster destroys the second Metallitack Unit.

    • Although the future world that the Pastmaster pulls the SWAT Kats into is one in which they were killed as noted in Professor Hackle's flashback, it still stems from the past that they were taken from. With that in mind, wouldn't this create a paradox since if the SWAT Kats were taken into the time vortex they could not have been killed and thus the future the Pastmaster brings them to wouldn't have existed?

    • Although the Turbokat is pursued by three flying Metallitack Units, only two are shown being accidentally destroyed by "Tarface." The third mysteriously disappears.

    • Although Chance buys a copy of "Kat Commandoes" from Pops Perkins' newsstand at the beginning of the episode, by the end it has become an issue of "RocKat."

  • QUOTES (4)

    • Commander Feral: Felina. Didn't I order you to stay put?
Lieutenant Feral: Sorry, uncle. Transmission is breaking up. I'll be right down after I throw a net over this creep.
Commander Feral: FELINA. Ugh, I have a mind to throw that niece of mine off the force. But my brother would never speak to me again. And she's too good an enforcer.

    • Razor: (Upon spotting a snake) Heh, I'm glad to see something non-metallic. Even you.

    • T-Bone: What kind of crazy world is this?!
Razor: One with too many robots in it!

    • Mac Mange: Welcome to the future Megakat City, Swat Kats!
Molly Mange: Except now it's Metallikat City and I'm in charge!
Mac: You mean we're in charge, don't ya, Molly?
      Molly: Whatever!

  • NOTES (2)

    • This is the first time that Chance's last name (Furlong) has been mentioned in the show.

    • The outside of Metallikat Headquarters (apparently the former City Hall) is adorned on either side with massive replicas of Mac and Molly's trademark Multi-Weapon hand attachments.

  • ALLUSIONS (1)

    • Comic Book:
On the front page of the comic that Chance grabbed, is a picture of a character, who looks like a cat version of Dr. Doom.
