  • Genndy Tartakovsky's return to Cartoon Network has blossomed yet another legendary cartoon series that in my opinion is a TRUE Cartoon Cartoon.

    9.0
2010 seems to be a good turning point for Cartoon Network and it's brought excitement to the old fans of Cartoon Network due to the mention that Tartakovsky may be making a new show, well he has and here it is folks, the PILOT!

The Pilot episode is fantastic, it left me on the edge of my seat wanting more. The beginning of the episode has a HALO vibe to it but unlike Halo it doesn't suck.

Nana, Lance and Octus are in the woods on Earth after escapting from their wartorn planet, Galaluna. An enemy force of the Galalunian's known as the Mutradi have invaded Galaluna under the command of an ex hero of Galaluna known as Modula. Modula's motive is to kill the princess of Galaluna no matter what it takes. Modula sends off a fire Mutradi to Earth to kill Nana, however, meanwhile on Earth Lance, Nana and Octus have begun to get settled into their new home on Earth and have begun their first day at Sherman High. Nana and Lance seem normal however, Octus has disguised himself as a nerd to blend in to the school very well but...I believe it just caused people to laugh at him. lol

Their school day is however disturbed when the fire Mutradi comes to town and starts burning everything up, during this time Lance, Nana and Octus engage their armor forms but due to their synchroniicity it enables them to engage a new form known as the Sym-Bionic Titan!

The Sym-Bionic Titan is controlled using Heart, mind and soul from Nana, Lance and Octus. The Sym-Bionic Titan looks like something out of Transformers, Gundam and Voltron and gives homage to the brilliant Japanese anime industry of which Genndy I believe is a fan of. Atleast McCracken was, that I know.

Anyways, I won't spoil any more for you, you'll just have to watch it yourself. Trust me though, it's well worth it!

  • The newest series on CN makes a good start, and I was impressed with it, I mean come on, who doesn't love robots?

    8.0
I just saw this episode, and wondered where it came from, turns out that it's a new series on CN that premiered a week ago. All I had to say ways "How the hell did I miss this?!"

For someone who had no idea what was going on, I liked this episode, even though the "alien trying to fit into earth society" is a cliche that seems strangely familiar, the writers did a good job on it. Now at first I was asking myself "What's the point of the teens turning into giant robots?". At first I thought that it was because of the title, but then I thought "Shouldn't it be Symbiotic Titans?" as in the plural form of 'titan'?. Then I saw the big giant robot transformation, then I was all like "Wow! I get it now..." Lets face it, I dare all who read this review to find one person who doesn't like giant robots fighting something or destroying the town, I mean come on, that's what gave the power rangers half their viewers.

The episode did have a slow start, I'll admit that, but all first episodes do. After all they gotta introduce the characters and whatnot. But hey, when they finally get the episode going... boy oh boy do they get it going.

Once I can get a look at the 2nd episode, I'll gladly review it, and I think I'll also be watching this series from here on in.moreless
  • Genndy Tartakovsky's return to animation and CN is a splendid one.

    8.5
I've been sort of hot and cold about this series, I was very excited because...well, Genndy Tartakovsky is behind it and it features giant robots, something I've missed sorely since Transformers Animated was cancelled. With the new series Transformers: Prime coming later this year and this show, can there ever be anyhing such as "too much giant robot mayhem?" Well, I think the answer to that is "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen", but I will definitely check out more episodes of Sym-Bionic Titan if they're as good as this premiere outing. Now, I'm not raving about it, it wasn't flawless or anything like that, but many shows have sort of "rocky" starts, it has to introduce the characters, their situation and the premise, so there wasn't THAT much action, some at the beginning and then a battle with a flame monster towards the end, they were pretty brief and not all that spectacular, which I guess is due to their whole randomness, they were however brilliantly animated most of the time, and the intensity was great, I mean, crumblin buildings and a city on fire is something rarely seen in american cartoons nowadays, but I guess it's rated TV PG for a reason.

The comedy worked surprisingly well, I wasn't too keen on the high school setting and I hope and am sure that they will be doing something interesting with it. My favorite character so far was easily Octus, brilliantly voiced by Brian Posehn, best line was from the same character "what's wrong with my voice?" It seems whenever Brian Posehn or Gilbert Gottfried is cast in an animated series, chances are they're going to reference their unique voices at some point. The two other main characters, eh, a bit bland maybe, but again, this was a 24 minute episode and I'm surprised by how much they managed to cram into it without making it feel too rushed. The villain introduced was really weak, I felt, he didn't look threatening at all, but I'm sure they will be introducing new ones along the way. Will it be a huge hit for CN? You know, it's hard to tell, it has giant robots and everything and I hope it will be successful, only time will tell.moreless
