  • Nice second episode that's more about comedy and domestic situations rather than robot battles.

"What was that sound just now?" I thought while watching this episode, then it hit me, it was actually me laughing, I very rarely laugh at animated shows nowadays, but some of the stuff with Octus and the neighbor was hilarious, as I said last week, Octus is easily my favorite character so far. The episode largely focuses on the main characters continuing efforts to adapt to their new situation, in this case, they've bought a house and Ilana goes shopping at a mall, this all sounds very mundane and boring, but it's actually both entertaining and charming, I like these characters, there's also more to them, especially Lance seems to carry some emotional baggage around. The animation is still amazing, just a great looking show, and Lance chasing Ilana was actually the best action scene in the episode. Seeing Ilana as a kid was also a sweet moment, not to mention the ending. The villain, the general on that planet, whatever he was called and the planet was called, I didn't find him to be a threatening villain, I still think he looks kind of goofy, but this episode shows him as a ruthless, skilled fighter who kills a number of soldiers in mere seconds. He even crushed a man's throat, with some nasty soundeffects, again, it's rated TV PG and it takes full advantage of the rating.

The robot battles, I don't know, this one was pretty weak, once again, lasting only a couple of minutes and comes right at the end. It's like Power Rangers, remember the original show? With Rita Repulsa on that planet sending random monsters down to earth to fight the Rangers, then they assemble the Megazord and defeat the monster with a few sword slashes, that's what these two battles have been like, only slightly more exciting. The last episode's battle was also better due to a cooler looking monster, in my opinion. I initially wanted to watch the show for the action and hopefully some hefty robot battles, it hasn't delivered yet on this front, but I do like the characters and the comedy, very much so, I will definitely keep watching and I hope the robot battles become better. And again, I must say that the voice cast is terrific, especially Brian Posehn who is brilliant. This really is one of the best shows on CN along with Batman: The Brave and the Bold.moreless
  • Ilana, Lance, and Octus buy a house! Wopdee! Well it was a matter of time but I'm glad they did this in the second episode. I thought the plot to this was rather charming too.moreless

To be honest, I can't decide weither this episode is a filler or not. I mean, it showed us several clips of Lance and Ilana's home planet, but a large portion of the episode is just a bunch of stuff not very relivent to the plot happening. I think I'll decided not to call this episode a filler, just because I doubt they'd do a filler at the 2nd episode of the whole series.

But yeah, I did like it. The concept of a bunch of aliens figuring out how to buy stuff is funny, and I'll even tell you the main reason to watch this episode..... Lance's action sequence.

Lance has an action sequence where he chases after Ilana whom is on a bus, and suprisingly, Lance keeps up very well if not better through some hard core marshial arts and whatnot. It also kinda gives deepth to a couple of characters. Apparently, Lance has some packed up emotions going on that he doesn't wana talk about, and Ilana is already starting to miss her home. Octus is still the coolest f***ing robot you've ever seen (mostly cause he produces cash through his ass, or somewhere around that area).

The robot battle? Dissapointing, it was like 2 minutes tops, and even though the robot battle in the first episode was kinda short too, you wouldn't realize it because of the action, but with this one.... yeah.... you notice. That's the main reason this episode got knocked off two points, bad robot battle. I mean come on, put some effort into it writers! The show is called "Sym-bionic Titan", not "Aliens deal with their s*** while adapting to another planet"moreless
