After escaping fom the confines of Death Row at the eleventh hour, Earl Raymond Diggs robs a local bank and high-tails it to the Arizona Desert to try and make it to Mexico. However, his plans are shattered when he is pursued by a state trooper. After playing quite possibly the most dangerous game of "Chicken" ever, Diggs is left without a car and must now walk through the desert, all the time being stalked by a hungry vulture. When Diggs finds a deserted bar, he thinks things can't get any worse, that's when the trooper attacks him. After a fierce brawl, Diggs gets handcuffed to the trooper. Enraged, Diggs grabs the cop's gun and shoots him, but not before the cop swallows the handcuff keys. Now, Diggs must sojourn through the desert handcuffed to a policeman's corpse. Diggs then makes it to a mountain that seperates him from Mexico, but the weight of the cop causes him to plunder down the mountain. In a desperate attempt to get free, Diggs makes a makeshift hatchet out of the cop's badge and tries to hack the corpse's hand off, but accidentally cut off his own hand and falls off of the mountain completely, breaking his neck and becoming paralyzed, making himself into a nice carrion meal for the hungry vulture.
