  • A woman and her boyfriend trys to trick a couple of country folk out of their money.

This was not the best episode. I really didn\'t like it too much. A chain smoking woman bursts into a bar fixing to cheat a bunch of locals out of their money. She is armed with a scam which she thinks her and her partner have worked out. She and her boyfriend have arranged for the couple to fight, and her \"kill him\" so she can dig him up and they can leave, but it don\'t end up like that. The ending has a little bit of a twist I didn\'t see coming. But this episode is still not my favorite.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (4)

    • This is the only Tales from the Crypt episode to have John Kassir starring in a role other than just the Crypt Keeper.

    • This episode was Rory Calhoun's last performance.

    • Music: Composed by Frank Becker.

    • In the opening wraparound segment the Crypt Keeper is playing the official Tales From The Crypt pinball machine.

In the closing wraparound segment, the Crypt Keeper is watching some scenes on TV from this episode and notes that the actor playing Larry sounds familiar. Of course, the actor is John Kassir who voices the Crypt Keeper.

Crypt Keeper Wardrobe: The vest and shirt worn by the Crypt Keeper in these segments are also used in "The Assassin", "In The Groove" and "Fatal Caper" segments, among others. This outfit replaced the traditional robe as the Crypt Keeper's basic look when he wasn't dressed as an occupation or a famous person.

  • QUOTES (2)

    • [Opening wraparound segment with the Crypt Keeper playing Tales from the Crypt pinball]
The Crypt Keeper's Voice from the pinball machine: Tonight's tale concerns a man with three balls! ... What do you know, par for the corpse!
The Crypt Keeper: Ten killion points! Is this fun, or what?! Oh, hello kiddies. Don't mind me if I'm carrion on, but I've really groan to love this game. I could goo all night. [laughs] Which brings to mind tonight's terror tale. It's about a couple of game players who are about to find out what happens when you don't slay by the rules. I call it, "Oil's Well That Ends Well".

[Closing wraparound segment with the Crypt Keeper watching the episode.]
The Crypt Keeper: [watches the episode's ending again] Looks like business is really booming for Carl and Gina. Talk about flame and fortune! [laughs] You know, kiddies, there's something about this little tale that interests me. [rewinds to Larry's last line] I think it's this hactor. Hmm...yes...the others are good, but this one! We're talking a real bleeding man. He's a regular Gory Cooper. A Robert Deadford! And that voice! I could swear it reminds me of someone I know. [laughs]

    • Larry: Well, I'll be damned.
Gina: That, you can count on. Remember one thing, gentlemen. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. And today? Today has been a real b****. [throws cigarette in the oil]

  • NOTES (2)

  • ALLUSIONS (1)

    • Tales From The Crypt Pinball machine

Released in December 1993 and manufactured by Data East Pinball Inc. This was an officially licensed pinball machine and featured artwork from the episodes on the backglass, cabinet sides and playing field. The Crypt Keeper character is pictured prominently and his voice provided by John Kassir is heard throughout the game as you play. Artwork of the original Crypt Keeper from the original EC comics, as well as the Vault Keeper and the Old Witch are also featured on the game.

The official Tales from the Crypt pinball machine is featured in the opening wraparound segment. The Crypt Keeper loves it!
They can sometimes be purchased on Ebay for a few thousand dollars.

An obvious product placement at the time of this episode's airing. They would do this again with other Tales From The Crypt merchandise in the season six episode, "The Pit".
