  • Very Good Episode

I think that this episode of Tales From The Darkside was a very good episode. This episode was about a grandma who got no respect from her family who she lived with because she was old. Then one day the family say's that they want to put grandma in a nursing home type of place. After the grandma signs to go their the family asks her what wish would she like for them to do for her. The grandma comes up with a wish but doesn't tell the family. Then the next day everyone in the family starts to make many mistakes and have a hard time hearing. By the end of the episode the family is old just like the grandma and it seems like the family will be going to the nursing home with her.moreless
  • An elderly woman gets revenge on her unsympathetic family.

One of the great things about TFtD is that they weren't so cynical as to not take on some topical issues, even if they were kind of unexpected for a horror anthology. Somehow this ep fits right in, even if it's not what you'd expect from a show like this. Without being too preachy, it shows an ungrateful, mean family, who have no time or sympathy for their elderly matriarch, just what it's like to become old, and does so with a fair amount of humor. While it may not seem like a lot happens, and most viewers will likely see where it's headed soon after it starts, there's a lesson to be learned here- if we don't die young, we'll all end up old some day. Respect your elders! Not a message your average horror fan cares to hear, but I applaud TFtD for tackling such a topic and flying in the face of what's expected.moreless
