  • When a sick boy finishes his father's "noise eater" invention, it "eats" the life out of anything that makes a sound. After it "eats" its own remote control, the boy and his babysitter must silently escape before his chronic cough gets them both killed.moreless

Like many episodes of Tales From the Darkside, this one takes place in a typical, 1980s suburban home, which somehow amplifies the plot's intensity. Although the "killer vacuum cleaner" premise sounds ridiculous in theory, the actual "monster" is creepy-looking, and it's refreshing to see a small, ugly robot killing people rather than yet another demon.

The strange, silly concept is certainly not for everyone, but director Allen Coulter sells it by focusing more on the characters themselves rather than the creature. This series certainly had its sillier moments ("Basher Malone," the god-awful "Barter"), and few episodes were as well-executed as "Hush."moreless
  • A Killer Vacuum Cleaner are you kidding me.

    3.0
I was looking for episodes on youtube when i came across this episode. I had heard that it was plan silly I still wanted to give it a watch. So me and my grandmother sat and watched it and by the time it was finished we where laughing. While the whole idea is just to silly to take seriously this is something I would usualy find on a ''Goosebumps'' or ''Are You Afraid of the Dark'' episode I mean really. The only thing I liked in this was how they killed the vacuum and how the vacuum killed its victims by sucking the life out of them. But other then those two things this episode is just plan goofy & silly. This was the third to the last episode of the series so the producers must have run out of ideas. I'm sorry to say this about a ''Tales from the Darkside'' episode but it's just to silly to take seriously.moreless
  • The killer vacuum cleaner!!!

    6.5
This is episode was a disappointment and it wasn’t even scary. The monster looks like a vacuum cleaner gone made, nothing more and nothing less. The entire time, they are running away from a small vacuum. It never explained, as far as I could tell, why the monster turned evil. The boy invents the machine that can absorb sound, but when it accidentally gets switched on, it grows teeth and goes on a killing rampage?! Overall, too farfetched and unbelievable to be scary, the monster isn’t scary either. This will be one episode that won’t give me nightmares. It’s almost laughable.
