Caroline Coates, a television station interviewer, is promoted to be anchorwoman of the station's main news programme - and there are two men who want to marry her. But Caroline worries that she won't keep her looks forever.

Humphrey Baxter, one of her admirers, is a scientist working on a formula to stop the aging process. Unfortunately, though, some of the effects of the fountain of eternal youth are unforeseen...

      • Another version of this story was made as a television film in 1956, with Orson Welles serving as producer, director, adaptor, set designer, music arranger and host. Retitled The Fountain Of Youth, it was planned as a pilot for a series, but this never materialized. The film went unshown until 1958, when it was televised just once and won the Peabody Award.

      • This episode is based on a short story by John Collier (1901–1980) called 'Youth from Vienna', which appeared in a collection called 'Fancies and Goodnights' (1951).
