Teen Wolf S03E20: "Echo House"

The first time I took part in an armored truck heist was on my 11th birthday. I'd been trying to think of a fun group activity that would be cooler than Josh's laser tag birthday and less stressful than Laura's Discovery Zone party. So there we were, me and 8 kids from my class who didn't speak to me very much but who my mom said came from good families and I should be friends with. We were all wearing Halloween masks and staking out an armored car during its routine deliveries down at the diamond mart. If I had known then that I'd be the only survivor that day, I probably wouldn't have gone through with the heist to be honest. But when it comes to armored truck heists, the main thing is, you should never give up. Follow your dreams. Get those diamonds/Benjamins/Japanese supernatural artifacts. Get them and don't look back. I can't even count on both hands how many armored truck heists I've taken part in since then (mostly because my hands are now made of wood and fiberglass), but let's just say I've experienced enough armored truck heists to know one thing: Life is what's happening when you're robbing an armored truck.

Guys, "Echo House" will probably prove divisive because of how removed from the normal goings on of Beacon Hills it was, but I very, very much enjoyed it. There were no classroom scenes, no raves, no back alley slow-mo flip fights, no towel scenes, not even house party hijinks. This was just a sad and scary hour that paid homage to all our favorite mental asylum narratives. From Girl, Interrupted to AHS: Asylum to, I don't know, Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, so many of my favorite things take place in asylums full of attractive teens! And I obviously bring A LOT of Secret Circle baggage to the table wherever Shelley Hennig is involved, so I was ALL ABOUT the Stiles-Malia hookup. A lot of this episode felt organic and rewarding in a way that an early-season set-up episode might not. I love how things are coming together and falling apart simultaneously. This show just gets more and more layered and we are the richer for it. Also, a teenager had sex with a coyote.

Let's talk about it!

We started at the Eichen House, easily the show's Scooby Doo-iest location yet! Which is saying something considering A LOT of this series has taken place in a burned down house.

Despite Sheriff Stilinski thinking that Stiles' problems were merely just medical, Stiles convinced him that self-admission into a mental hospital in the middle of the night was probably the best course to take. Scott half-heartedly tried to convince Stiles not to do it, but then Stiles was like, "Well, it'll be harder to murder everybody this way" and Scott just sort of sat down and ate a potato because Stiles was right.

Anyway, yeah, this was an asylum for crazy teens so it should have come as no surprise that a lot of crazy teens were hanging around in the lobby looking crazy. At some point everything was just too grim for Sheriff Stilinski to take and he tried to command Stiles get back in the car, but Stiles wasn't having it.

Well, okay, he didn't just come out and tell his dad was was really going on (I'm not sure why not), but I did love this moment when he reminded his dad that it didn't matter if he no longer had the comforts of home, because even with them he hadn't slept in weeks.

Oh, but then right after Stiles' dad left, this happened:

And this freaked me out... Look who was watching from the ground floor:

THAT GUY AGAIN. Ugh, evil fox spirits can be real creeps sometimes. Quit rubbernecking that hanging dude and get outta here!

Meanwhile Deaton was on the phone with Argent who was still in jail and using his last quarter to tell everybody about yet another mythical artifact that might help them in their quest to, uh, get info.

They needed to find some kind of ancient scroll which was most likely shaped like a RED HERRING.

So yeah, conference call over. The kids knew what they had to do.

Back at the sanitarium Stiles was still getting to know his roommate, who had casually mentioned having eaten a bug, but don't worry that won't come into play at all later, relax. Also Stiles hadn't slept and hadn't even tried to.

He didn't even lie down! That is hardcore right there.

Then the roommate showed Stiles around the hospital, which mostly just involved pointing out all the people who believed they were Jesus and then having a run-in with a girl who'd fingered one of them as evil but was talking about it on a phone that didn't work. Typical asylum stuff. But what was NOT very typical was the girl that Stiles had fleetingly glimpsed the night before:

It was Malia, the coyote girl that the gang had rescued! And she did not seem very happy to see Stiles!

She clocked him but good! I guess she missed being a coyote, or maybe she was just steamed that her dad locked her away in an institution, or maybe she was still all ticked that everybody had stolen all her sh*t from her home under a tree stump. That I would understand, but maybe punching Stiles was kind of extreme. I don't know, I'm not here to judge.

Oh, but look who'd gotten a job here!

This lady! The guidance counselor/teacher/Druid/DEMONWOLF personal assistant. She is one of these characters who's been around for a while but I straight-up am not sure what her name is. Looking it up, it appears to be Ms. Morell, but it sounds like people are calling her Mireille? But maybe that's how Morell is pronounced? She goes by her last name only? I guess Deaton does too. Huh. Look, forget about it, it doesn't matter. All that matters is she ran out of the crowd and helped Stiles stare into a glass sidewalk to the basement and he realized he'd been there in his dreams. Something like that? I can't be bothered to clarify any of this because I'm too busy filling out my application for a little thing called THE PULITZER. Just kidding, I'm eating Starbursts.

Because this was an episode set in an asylum there was a mandatory group therapy session. But in my opinion it was rude of Ms. Morell to ask Stiles about his issues because she knew full well that he has monster probs and that is probably not what the rest of the patients need to be hearing about in therapy. But yeah, we get it, both Malia and Stiles felt guilty for having killed/threatened their family and friends. Also Stiles was hallucinating again, so that was not a good sign.

Meanwhile Ms. Morell noticed some spidery red marks on Stiles' neck and took the opportunity to try and get him half-naked finally.

As it turned out the marks were a side effect of that moss junk that Deaton had used to expel the nogitsune from Stiles' bod, so as long as the marks were there he'd be safe from re-entry. But also he shouldn't sleep either (because he'd heal too much) and that's why Ms. Morell slipped him some drugs.

And then she hilariously informed him that if he became re-infected with demonfox then she'd probably murder him. Fair warning!

Meanwhile Argent and Derek were in some kind of cage playing harmonicas due to prison blues. But Derek used his werewolf hearing to learn that all the evidence being used against them in the legal system was currently being moved to a federal facility somewhere. Also Argent told a very good story about Berserkers who, to me, sound like were-bears and the gist was that sometimes people can go full-on call of the wild and turn into beasts permanently. But honestly the whole time I was just murmuring to myself "Oh please let Season 4 involve were-bears, PLEASE."

Anyway, that's when the kids sprang into action in one of the show's most hilarious B-plots yet: AN ARMORED TRUCK HEIST to get back that evidence that would incriminate Argent and Derek.

Ugh, so good. Honestly, a Heat-style armored truck heist WAS the next logical progression now that the show regularly begins with Yakuza drama, so I was EXCITED. Except I think Isaac was still in a coma, so that dampened my enthusiasm a little. How could everybody be going about their regular monster business when an all-time great was still in the hospital? Very rude.

Meanwhile Stiles tried to stay awake by splashing water on his face and he learned the hard way that former coyotes prefer to take showers in boys' locker rooms.

That's when Malia explained why she'd been so steamed at him for turning her human: She LOVED being a coyote. She got to just live under a stump with her doll and all her other sh*t that people kept messing with, plus she didn't have to deal with the fact that she'd basically tried to eat most of her family. And you know what? Fair enough.

But that's when Stiles saw an opportunity: If Malia would help him access the basement he would introduce her to monsters and/or druids to help her switch back to coyote form whenever she wanted. Or, you know, he'd at least introduce her to a ton of hunks. Seemed like a pretty good deal either way.

Their plan involved a group therapy tussle! Guys, let's be real, Malia is amazing. She picked a fist fight with Stiles' roommate and then swiped the orderly's keys.

Unfortunately none of them worked on the basement door and double-unfortunately Stiles got caught!

Next thing we knew he had been injected with sleepin' juice and was lying on the bathroom floor defying Ms. Morell's direct orders to not fall asleep.

Then in his dream he was locked in a locker while locked in a shouting match with the nogitsune!

This honestly creeped me out so much. "Let me in" is a very alarming thing to hear from the other side of a locked locker door, especially when it's being shouted by a mummy with a silver grill.

Fortunately Malia busted the door open and woke Stiles up. No nogitsune possession YET.

Meanwhile Kira seduced Scott into letting her join their armored car heist, mostly by waving a samurai sword (confusing sexual metaphor alert) in his face!

I don't know. It was cute though.

Speaking of cute!

THIS LADY came back. Remember the Spanish Fratellis from the earlier episodes of this season? Apparently they were hunters and this old lady (the only surviving member) had arrived in town to tear Mr. Argent a new b-hole. It was only a matter of time before the Argents had to start answering for their wolf-tolerant ways, so it looks like that's where this lady factors in. She's bad news in my opinion. And VERY grumpy.

So anyway: THE ARMORED CAR HEIST! As you probably predicted, there did not end up being a Heat-style armored car heist sequence. Nope, just as the kids were laying the groundwork they realized that the dead Yakuza dude's personal werewolf had already broken into the truck in pursuit of a silver finger.

But to their credit the kids did all they could to get that red herring finger back! And to this guy's credit, he fought back HARD.

Just after the brute had clobbered Scott, Kira, and Allison and then even made fun of Scott for being a puny weakling, the twins jumped down off a fire escape and beat the dude up BAD. In fact they were borderline ready to MURDERIZE him, but Scott pulled a werewolf Gandhi and told them to back off.

Meanwhile, they ended up finding the scroll, it was a Polly Pocket type deal hidden inside the silver finger!

Oh boy. That is just straight-up silly but I am not complaining.

So then Stiles and Malia busted into the basement where they examined that weird backwards-5 glyph on the wall and also read tons of paperwork about lobotomies, ALL OF IT an aphrodisiac.

I am not going to lie, I really, really loved this part. Just two troubled teens getting some action on the musty couch in the basement of an asylum! Typical coming of age stuff. Also I love Malia/Shelley Hennig, so I approve of this match for Stiles/Dylan O'Brien. What kind of cold-hearted monster wouldn't? They are great!

Now the ultimate conundrum: Is it considered a shirtless hug if only one shirt is removed? This is the nogitsune's most cryptic riddle yet!

Then Malia got an idea: Stiles should beat down the wall with a pipe! That's when they found a familiar-looking corpse.

And in his pocket was a photograph. We didn't get to see who it was of, but Stiles recognized one of the people in it. Was it his mom? It was his mom, right? He didn't seem super happy about it, whoever it was. (Was it his mom?)

Oh, then both Stiles and Malia got suddenly tased!

The roommate had been under the control of the nogitsune the whole time. He even rudely referred to him as the Renfield to his Dracula. Ugh, the nogitsune is a real cheeseball sometimes.

So then Stiles and Malia were tied up and the nogitsune offered Stiles a choice: He could either voluntarily allow the nogitsune into his body (and save Malia's life), or he could fight it and watch Malia die. Stiles' choice probably did not shock you.

Boom! Stiles' hand was forced but only for the best reasons. He let the nogitsune back in!

To be fair, the nogitsune immediately clobbered the Renfield dude and also kept his word about not harming Malia. So maybe the nogitsune is a pretty chill dude deep down? Aside from his thirst for chaos and murder, maybe he's not as bad as we thought? Something to think about.

Anyway, remember that whole B-story involving an armored car non-heist and a tiny red herring hidden inside a finger?

It all came to nothing, basically! Deaton claimed the Japanese writing merely said that Stiles' body would have to "change" in order to expel the nogitsune. Which, of course, meant only one thing.

Scott may very well have to turn Stiles into a werewolf. But seeing as that was ALREADY on the table as a possibility I'm not sure where this subplot got us. Well, it did get us an undeniably entertaining mission for our local monster squad, but still.

The next morning, and with Evil Stiles on the move, Malia realized she needed to get down to business.

She needed to find Scott! I'm guessing to both save her new sexual partner but also figure out how to turn into a coyote. Personally I'm not super eager for Malia to turn into a coyote because I really hate when the humans turn into actual animals (I will drop kick a coyote, I don't even care) instead of the much cooler beastmen and also I want Malia to remain in Shelley Hennig form as a regular character for the next 18 seasons at least. BUT whatever it takes for her to join the squad I'm happy with. She can go on the next armored car heist, maybe!

"Echo House" was a good, old-fashioned exercise in asylum horror and I for one appreciated it. It's always fun seeing characters inhabit new locations/sets and this dynamic between Stiles and Malia was incredibly compelling. I'm still sorta laughing about how useless the truck heist ended up being, but I will never not love Teen Wolf for its ambitions. Any other show would have had these characters sitting around an all-ages bar playing darts or whatever, so I really loved getting to see them be physical with monster brutes. Now somebody please wake up Isaac!

OKAY BYE

QUESTIONS

... So wait, what connection did Lydia have to that basement a few episodes prior?

... Who was in the photograph?

... Do you love Malia or are you too intensely jealous of her to deal?

... Should the citizens of Beacon Hills be more careful about fireflies going into their face holes? Why or why not?

Oh great. You were murmuring with a mouth full of Starbursts; now the next season is going to involve CARE-bears. :-(

It was nice to see Stiles getting some. The show runs for almost 3 whole seasons and he never had a girlfriend? I get that he's in love with Lydia but that does not mean he has to be alone until the day she'll finally (might) realise what a great guy he is.

The only thing that bugged me about the Stiles/Malia hook-up: Where the hell did they get a condom in a mental institution? You might think that it's weird that that was like the first thought after my initial excitement but it is important. This is essentially a teen show and that's why this concerns me. No glove, no love! Just sayin'...

I love that Stiles' first is with Peter's daughter. The interaction between Peter and Stiles when Peter finds out will be hillarious. Also Derek is sure to be pissed when he finds out Stiles has been with his cousin. Stiles really can't get away from the Hale family...............maybe some more "I'm going to rip your throat out with my teeth" scenes between Derek and Stiles. I really miss the interation between Stiles and Derek this season.

Yikes! There was a spoiler from a while back that said the Stilinski family is centrally involved in the history of Beacon Hills. The Nogitsune in bandaged form has a USAF patch on its bomber jacket. In the Sheriff's office are a display case full of air force medals and a folded flag from a military burial, as well as a bunch of photos from WWII. Starting to think the Stilinki family is the target.

Also, I rewatched Letharia Vulpina. At the end Stiles sayd you shouldn't trust a fox they are tricksters, they'll fool you. When the nogitsune speaks it uses a generally non-inclusive we. Starting to wonder if Stiles is just enthralled like Barrow and Oliver and the crazy mojo he's rocking currently has another source entirely.

OMG, I totally missed the military honors in the Sheriff's office! I'll have to look closer at the decor once I re-watch some episodes. Since the office has been blown up, that'll be impossible now. But that might also be why the Sheriff's office was chosen as a target.

Usual disclaimer: I have a lot stuff to do and did not read up on everything in these comments. If someone else made the points I´m about to make, sorry for repeating you.

I think the episode had some strucutral issues and I don´t think the whole RED HERRING was chief among them:

1. The whole Malia-Stiles-romance is way cool in my opinion but they didn´t ease into it the way they should have. I get the point they were trying to get through but they just didn´t show enough of Malia with and without Stiles for me to get her and why she was so impulsive. Also, the shower scene was pretty damn gratuitous and the excuse was really ridiculous. Come on, "the boy´s showers are hotter than the girl´s showers..."?

2. The finale was ultimate suspense and a lot of... I don´t really wanna say fun, but you know what I mean. But it was both predictable and felt slapped on. When Stiles` roommate mentions he had swallowed bug it is pretty obvious how he´s going to show up later but still in the finale he is just some dude with no tangible connection to the main story line. That through me out of the intricately woven web of plots and twists around the main characters.

Don´t get me wrong, this episode was as awesome as the rest of the show and especially the season. But I think compared to its predecessors it had a few unnecessary weaknesses.

I don't hate Malia, but I def hate the way they chose to basically rid Stiles of his virginity. If in fact that did happen. I still have my doubts. He deserved better than that situation. And really as much as I like Malia we really don't need yet another "kick-ass" or "bad-ass" female trope running around. Allison more than fills that role. Kira is already too much to deal with, I really hope she leaves soon. And if Stiles turns werewolf I may be done with this show completely.

I thought I could stay away til monday but that is not happening. Is anyone else really digging the evil Stiles, I wish there were a way to keep him evil at least some of the time. Watching the end of season trailer, he really creeps me out. Evil stiles is so much more confident. His quote about chaos rising just gives me chills.

OK, anybody still think there's any possibility that Stiles is in fact still dreaming everything? Because then they can kill someone off and they won't really be killed off...as soon as Stiles wakes up.

I know....wishful thinking.

Also, just to throw this out there, since no one seems to think Scott would ever get killed off (I don't actually think he will either), here's a theory on how Scott is killed off: Based on Deaton's bad translation, Scott turns Stiles into a werewolf to try to get the Nogistune out of Stiles, but it doesn't work and now Stiles has the werewolf powers on top of being the Nogistune and he kills Scott. Then whoever saves Stiles from the Nogistune and Stiles becomes "the Teen Wolf." Again, I really don't think this will happen, but isn't that what JD likes to do?

I totally thought that. I. The last episode we will see stiles waking up and this whole season has just been one long weird nightmare but I doubt it will happen because Jeff Davis hardly ever goes with the obvious.

As far as a character being killed off, I sadly see it being stiles. Dylan O'brien is seriously the star of the show. I see him going far one day. His acting skills are on a different level. It's seriously hard to do comedy and drama and he plays both so eloquently. From what I've read, he has many movies, some with starring roles, in the works right now. Maybe he won't have time for TW anymore.

The only other person I can see it being is Derek. It seems as if that's where they're heading with his character. He has only had a very small amount of screen time this season plus Tyler Heochlin hasn't been on ANY of the after shows or web stuff. If you remember,he also wasn't on the reunion after 3A.

Either way way id be sad to see any of the originals go. I took me long enough to get over Colton Haynes leaving! Hopefully its Kira! I'm not really into her character. I don't know why. She's too awkward, corny and naive for this show. I get annoyed any time she's on screen. If one but not both of the twins went I wouldn't care either. I had enough of them ganging up on people although I do kind of enjoy the good twin/bad twin thing they have going on.

Part of me still believes (or maybe just wants to believe) that the entirety of 3B has been a dream and that all three of them will wake back up from their personal pool's of doom like in the season opener.

-Where is my Isaac?! Why has he not healed?! Only current upside is that they probably won't kill him...

It's about time Stiles got a girl. It seems like everybody is hooking up its about time he does too. So I hope this lasts longer then the one episode. I don't know who could be in the picture but is just me or do you think Scott's dad is like super suspicious. He just pops up out of nowhere. The last person that popped up was the teacher that freaking killed everybody. Plus Stiles said that he and his dad knew something that he didn't want Scott finding out. I wonder what that is. I can't wait for the next episode.

What the hell was I just watching? Was there a "free donuts" if you sign up for booby hatch day? How did everyone conveniently end up there?? And wasn't stiles unconscious last time we saw?? Felt way too constructed

Malia is awesome and gorgeous. She made everything interesting, plus I want to see the connection between her and Peter

Wait. Morelle is her last name? They all call her Morelle and I totes thought that was weird because she's their teacher and guidance counselor, but I'm pretty sure Deaton calls her Morelle, too. And they can't both go by their last names because they're brother and sister.

Also Malia and Stiles is basically my favorite thing ever right now.

Can't wait for Monday's episode. I have actually removed one post about a call sheet. When I originally posted I wondered whether it were true. Another website, reported to its readers not to open the story because it was a confirmed call sheet. It definitely doesn't identify who died, because it is only a partial list of who was participating in filming that day, and 2 major characters aren't on the list. Hopefully if this is all true, it supports my theory that the big 5 are safe.

If you want to discuss that further feel free to pm me. Otherwise I'm going to try to stay off here until after Monday's episode.

Sorry, forgot some of my post. With the addition of so many new characters next season, someone has to die. I mean die, for good. Is anyone else afraid that with the casting news for next season, they are going to have another kid get bitten by a wolf. Filming for season 4 is underway.

Someone post this on Tumblr about the situation of Malia's ears piereced:

"Depictions of kitsune or their possessed victims may feature round or onion-shaped white balls known as hoshi no tama (ほしのたま?, star balls). Tales describe these as glowing with kitsunebi.[36] Some stories identify them as magical jewels or pearls.[37] When not in human form or possessing a human, a kitsune keeps the ball in its mouth or carries it on its tail.[11]
her cold hands:
kitsune-gami or “fox-spirit possession.” She told me about its symptoms. “No appetite, insomnia; hands are cold all the time.” -Travel Alert Japan: Beware of Possible Fox Spirit Possession by Dave Lowry

the hook up with stiles:
"Other kitsune have characteristics reminiscent of vampires or succubi and feed on the life or spirit of human beings, generally through sexual contact.[24]

Humorously, I just thought that was a wardrobe issue. You know, just to have it be something for Shelley Henning in her wardrobe for the shower scene. But otherwise, I got my ears pierced for my seventh birthday and was terrible about earring wearing until like, well, recently. But they never closed. My double holes which I first got done when I was twelve than repunched when I was like seventeen kept closing on me. My mother tells me that was because she was in charge of taking care of my ears for the first one and I was in charge of the double holes.

LOL. I thought the same that was a wardrobe Issue. But I have to say that I'm impress with the passion of TW fans. Betweem episodes they made a lot of research and crazy theories that I think is incredible how the fandom is invest in this show. The fan Julia Jones even made a song that was featured in a promo of the season 3B by MTV. Or the fan Offthepreserve that read the entire book of The Bardo to make theories. Incredible. :)

I know, I couldn't believe when the offthepreserve people actually read the Tibetan Book of the Dead. Geez, when random books I've read quote it at the beginning of chapters, I only skim it and then disregard it. The most I tend to do is google random terms (though I had to do that a lot more for 3B than 3A since a random assortment of Druid stuff must be in my blood since according to our family historian once he got past some IRA leanings we are as Irish as far back as he can tell - well until we came here, and two members of my generation are married to or will get married to an Indian girl). Surprisingly though, I only looked up Oni this week. I think it was because Tyler Posey kept insisting they were the bad guys of the season, though I sense it is because they are his only repeated fight scenes of the season.

As expected... Price drools over anything from a show a he likes.
Don't get me wrong, I love Teen Wolf too, but there's a difference between liking a show for its good quality and being an utter fanboy and ignoring its flaws.

For the love of whatever, this episode felt organic? The entire premise of this episode made no sense what so ever.
The writers needed stuff to happen whether it had any reason to happen or not.

Going into the asylum solves nothing. Stiles can't hurt the people in there? If they are afraid the Nogitsune will take over again what is the point keeping him out of sight with random strangers who clearly can't handle a supernatural threat? And what exactly is protecting Stiles from threats against him?

Heck, the other day when Stiles disapeared, didn't the Shriff and scooby gang search the same mental institute and it was empty?!?

The thing that makes the whole thing even dumber is that this season had so many (justified) refrences to season 2 with Kenima\Jackson.

Oh, and remember what they did to Jackson back then?
THEY LOCKED HIM UP IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE UNDER THEIR OWN CARE!
Which is exactly what they should have done now.

No excuses!

All characters on this show had some involvement with it and should have instantly jumped to that conclusion.

Heck, unlike last time, the "prisoner" parents would be more than happy to play along who also happens to be the Sheriff and they can even add Scott's mom and the vet to the mix to make sure he has proper medical attention if need be.

Letting Stiles loose on the world of unsuspecting helpless people in the asylum that can't protect themselves or that might harm him is stupid and was only used a means to introduce some stuff the writers wanted.

This was flat out stupid. I don't mind saying "okay, it was totally dumb but the show still has so many great qualities they still out do the bad ones" but saying this was good, decent, right, logical or organic is utterly pathetic.

I'm not getting all the other stupid stuff in this episode like the scroll (really? They don't keep stuff electronically these days? It's not like the scroll is magical, it's no different then us having stuff like the bible online), the coyote girl who was out of human society for years having her ears piereced or the "no big deal somebody in the asylum comitted suicide" SERIOUSLY?!? We're not in the 60s anymore people...

I love this show as well. But there some episodes that are better than others but so far they are mostly well thought out and well written. One issue that I would like to see fixed for season 4, is that we will have a very big episode that might be one of the best episodes of anything on tv like "Riddled" then all the intensity is dialed back and episodes that are still well done don't seem as sharply written and people are disappointed.

They had to go to the asylum because they had to find the body. They probably could have written it a little differently and pulled it off a little better than they did. But to me it also goes to the fact that this is scifi/fantasy, if everyone did the reasonable thing, there wouldn't be a need for the show.

You are absolutely wrong. There is zero connection between a show being sci-fi and its lack of rationality.

Sci-Fi is not the opposite of Realism or Logic.

The point of Science Fiction or Fantasy, is basically to say "Let's say that our world has werewolves in it - now what would it look like"

It doesn't mean characters are automatically are excused to do things that people in that situation wouldn't do.

In fact one of the best things about Teen Wolf was that in fact its characters acted in the best manner so far. A kid goes missing? Call his parents! Absolutely! That's good writing. Randomly sending a possessed kid away from everyone is awful writing.

If they needed Stiles to be in the asylum, they simply should have worked up harder to find an excuse for it that's other than "we say so"
It was beyond stupid to let a possessed kid walk around without supervision.

Stiles shouldn't have suggested it and the gang shouldn't have accepted it.
And what's more, their earlier trip to the same asylum makes even less sense of the whole thing.

It doesn't matter if it's about normal people, werewolve, androids or aliens.
Characters still need to act in character regardless of the genere.

That is what any* form of story revovles around, whether books, tv or movies.

* With the exception of some avantgarde surealistic stuff, but you get my point.

This will have to be an agree to disagree situation on my part.

When your world has werewolves and kanima's, the first thing a teenager thinks is not, lets kidnap the person that is the kanima and lock him in a stolen police van, then forget that his phone can probably be tracked thus killing your entire plan.

But the premise that putting Stiles in the asylum is not reasonable seems to be just to be someone looking for a complaint. The pack hasn't had any luck isolating him and keeping him in one place yet. The only thing that really makes complete since is if the sheriff throws him in jail. But that makes less sense, in terms of the show, than sending him to an asylum (it actually probably would have been better off to portray it as more of a mental hospital) because although the Sheriff is now in the know, he knows Stiles can't sleep and his scan was positive. Plus I thought from the beginning that there was still some nogitsune influence left.

I agree and disagree.

well first off, it's entirely a rational thing they did with Jackson, stupid but a solid idea, they weren't kidnapping him for along time or anything, they kept in contact with his parents through his phone to keep them from suspecting anything. Their purpose was to inform and make Jackson believe he was a murderous lizard creature and go from there.

Here there is no good rationale behind going to THAT mental hospital. Also it doesn't make sense to inflict Stiles upon the residents of the asylum should he become fully possessed again. Really how hard would it be to contain him anywhere else?
The only explanation that makes sense is that the nogitsune influenced him to sneak off to the asylum, but why the Sheriff wasn't more against THIS particular asylum is also weird.

Okay but I definitely DO NOT ship Stiles and Malia, because
1) Last time she was human she was flippin 9 years old and hadn't had human contact like at all so how is she a normally functioning teenager?? It makes no sense she should be like feral and socially awkward tbh
2) The sex scene was totally unnecessary, because Stiles would totes have saved her life & let the demon in even if they hadn't had this 'emotionally bonding' experience.
Side note: It was never really explained why Malia was in the mental hospital? Like she obviously did not seem to have any issues with the whole coyote-to-human deal (see #1) so idk what the heck she was doing, plus she literally just 'decided' to leave the mental hospital?
Idk this eisode just made absolutely no sense it made me mad

Oh Price, your recaps are always fantastic, but you were really ON for this one.

So good: "We started at the Eichen House, easily the show's Scooby Doo-iest location yet! Which is saying something considering A LOT of this series has taken place in a burned down house."

Even better: "But honestly the whole time I was just murmuring to myself 'Oh please let Season 4 involve were-bears, PLEASE.'"

But the best: "THIS IS SOME TINY BULL SH*T"

I cried. I really did.

Scott is so weak because he doesn't even officialy have werewolves in his pack to make him stronger. Derek is an omega, Isaac is in a coma and the twins haven't been accepted into the pack. He really is just an alpha without proper alpha powers and without a pack.

I assume that this is probably the quick answer and the right answer. But I did start thinking about Deucalion who only fought Jennifer as the Demon Wolf and let the Alpha Pack do the fighting for him. Like maybe there are different ways to be an Alpha.

Firstly, I am more grateful than words can express that the Derek and Chris back to back in the jail cell was featured here, very hot, and it was adorable that they are now basically friends serving time together. And the polly pocket comment made me laugh so hard I cried, it was such a simple joke and yet I love it, this is why I adore Price.
Back to the show I’m ok if Stiles or possessed Stiles wants to kill that orderly, I was very displeased with the sleep juice. And I guess Malia is legit supposed to be taking the role of Cora, cause not only is she gonna be related to the Hale’s they are also setting her up with Stiles, I don’t know if I like it or not, it seems kind of random and almost forced because it is happening so fast. Also I don’t like that they took Stiles’ virginity, that just means that he can die now according to horror movie code.

I thought she was referring to the bug comment Oliver made upon Stiles entering the room. He said he swallowed a bug and asked stiles if he had ever done the same. Then at the end when he was in the basement with Stiles and the Nogitsune had taken over he had coughed up the bug. To me that was something hidden in plain sight which we should've picked up in right away. The fireflies and bugs have played a big role throughout both halves of this entire season.

I'm glad though that people picked up that Malia was carrying the sword at the end of the episode. I watched the episode twice since it's aired and couldn't figure out what she had with her!
Reply
Flag
While the sword made sense to me in the non- man made weapon, my first thought when Hatashi said that was a werewolf's claws. Plus, as I suspect that the bandaged guy was just totally a regular human like Stiles and this Nogistune is stuck with the previous shape he had before he overtakes another, I think the sword might just be man made but old. I do suspect Malia might be smarter than we would assume and not only grabbed the picture but the sword too to show to Scott.
2

The sword should be considered man-made since a person would've had to make it; the only way it would not be literally "man-made" is if a woman made it.

I would think a werewolf's claws would be the perfect natural weapon; either that or a large stick, rock, etc.

Ha...but now that I think about it, it could be Kira's mom (between now and Monday I am going to learn how to spell her first name which is something like Noshiko) since we see her with something that looked a lot more like a katana than the Oni weapons (which come to think of it, doesn't Kira have one of those now? I mean, I know she dropped it to kick the one who stabbed Scott...which likely means they have that sword...

Yeah, I tend to agree with you. I suppose the sword is absolutely "in plain sight," but it's so much so that I hardly consider it "hidden". It's drawn a lot of attention from fans who noticed it right away. No doubt it's important, but I hadn't considered it might be what Ponzio might be referring to.

Likewise, I hadn't thought about the sword in reference to the Katashi quote, though at the time I thought it was probably an important distinction.

How was the heist supposed to go down? Were they just going to walk up to the guy who's working closely with Stiles's dad, aim a crossbow at him and say "give us the finger, or else". Did they bring masks? Gloves? Did they have any kind of plan at all?

I'm pretty sure we didn't get to see the plan, because it was all messed up when Kincaid was already there. I'm a little frustrated at the disappointment over the heist, I would have rather seen what they were planning originally. But I enjoyed the scene, although, they need Scott to be a little stronger like an alpha. He should have been able to roar.
Reply

Oh, I disagree! The whole thing—especially the plan as Allison and Lydia lay it out—is played for half-slapstick. That they never even get to try their plan because it was derailed as soon as it began is just part of the joke, though not, I suppose, for the guard Kincaid dispatched. (Hopefully, he's only knocked out, but I'm not holding my breath.)

As for the heist as it was planned, I think they were hoping to distract the deputy and guard long enough for one of them to pilfer the scroll without taking the finger. Ideally, no one would know anything was taken. Why Allison and Lydia think Scott can pick a lock, especially a lock on an armored truck, I have NO IDEA! I'm pretty sure Scott could lock himself out of his own house.

A few thoughts about the episode:

I have to say that I love TW, but the whole asylum didn't make any sense. I think that the asylum looks more like a rehab house than an asylum perse (medical institution). They walked freely, theraphy groups, etc. But at the same time looks like an old asylum like the one in Shutter Island. We see a man behind an iron bars, is this real or is in Stiles's mind under the influence of the Nogitsune. On man hanged himself at the same time that heard in his mind the shadow riddle. Obviously, under the influence of the Nogitsune. I think the Nogitsune have great power here, because the asylum was built in the same place that the japanese camp was. This resemble the episode Motel California. In the Motel California hotel, strange things happens because the hotel had some kind of curse.

The Nogitsune influenced Oliver too and called him Reinfield. I searched in wikipedia (I never saw a movie or read nothing about Dracula). And found this: He is an inmate at the lunatic asylum overseen by Dr. John Seward. He suffers from delusions which compel him to eat living creatures in the hope of obtaining their life-force for himself. During the course of the novel, he is revealed to be under the influence of Count Dracula. The vampire, whose abilities include control over animals such as rats, bats and spiders, comes to Renfield with an offer: if Renfield worships him, he will provide Renfield with an endless supply of food. Maybe I'm over thinking, but it's possible that the Nogitsune needs help and offers someone a deal. Maybe Peter??? I'm in the wagon with those who said that everything is Gerard and Peter fault. LOL.

I want to be brief with the whole Malia and Stiles hooukup. Tumblr is at war right now with Jeff, the Stereks and Stydias. This scene is very difficult to analyse and we can start a debate for that scene. Stiles and Malia, both are in fragile mental state. But Stiles wanted to lose his virginity before with Heather and with Caitlin. And Malia lived in a coyote body for 8 years, maybe her animals instinct were there playing a role too. Even when she was a coyote, she used to visit (or went around) her house and saw her father. She was in her "full mind". I think that the sex(if really happened, because someone said that Shelly Henning implied that there was not sex) was really unnecessary (bad writing) and created a great polemic. Stiles will care for Malia the same way he cared for the man that hanged himself. He didn't had to have sex with her to care about her. But I have to said that the scene in some way manage to be sexy and romantic and the song playing in the background was great to the scene.

The Nogitsune will now be full mode in Stiles body. In the previous episodes Stiles struggle with the possession but now he relaxed and willingly let the spirit go inside of him. I think this is the great difference. BTW great scene and great acting on Dylan O'brien. I was thinking that maybe the great offense to the Nogitsune was that the Nogitsune didn't was properly buried and was let there in a wall. I think that this body is the body of the first Nogitsune host or the body of the person that his spirit become a Nogitsune. If this person was a Kitsune before becomes a Nogitsune when he died in some mysterious way. In all cultures the sepulture of bodies is very important and more if the person was a military (like the Nogitsune seems a pilot before). But all are theories we have to wait and see.

I have to said that I'm really upset about the whole True Alpha situation. I can understand that Kincaid was really strong and that maybe Scott has not master all the True Alpha's abilities yet, but come on, Scott not even managed a stand or fight with Kincaid for over 5 seconds or a second. Really bad. Many people don't like Scott's character and this is not helping. I love Scott but this is not okay. Scott needs the Twins to be in his pack to do the dirty work he doesn't do. I hope that Jeff doesn't goes with this: Scott bites Stiles and cures him but he doesn't became a wolf(or something else) because Scott's bite is special (heal but doesn't turns someone into supernatural being). This will be lame.

The opening sequence with Stiles and his dad in the car was amazing for me. The rain, the look at each other in pain, was really great and well shot. The same goes with Stiles and his dad in the asylum, definitely one of the best relationships in tv right now.

I'm with the ones that think that Meredith is the other banshee. She not only heard the voices, she speaks with them (other banshees, dead people, etc). Lydia needs to learn to use her abilities.

The visit of Granny Goodness to Chris Argent has created more questions. It's Allison La Loba. But if Allison is really La Loba this will be a great storyline to play in season 4, and all the ways leads to Allison possible dying in the final. For now something is happening with Allison without doubt or the hunters are really mad with all the concessions the Argents do to the wolfs.

In overall an entertainment episode, but not great.

I feel like I should point out that in most every movie or tv show when an asylum for the mentally ill is shown, they're always somehow exaggeratedly terrifying in some way. You're meant to feel like it's creepy, disturbing and just generally horrible.
while real asylums are usually nothing like what you'd ever find in a tv show. Also they just wouldn't give off that creepy feeling of anxiety and anticipation.

We are in a sci fi series about werewolves, werecoyotes and were foxes, hunters, nogitsune, kitsune, darachs, druids and nemetons. I'm not understanding why we would expect a realistic asylum. Nothing fun would happen at one of them. We have the worst high school and worst sheriffs office in the world as well.

I have a comment on the preview scene of Allison holding a wolf's body and everyone therefore thinking Isaac may be the one to die. Has Isaac ever taken the form of a full wolf? No. Therefore, what's the chance of the wolf being Isaac? Slim to none.

Who has taken a full animal form? Malia. Are we sure it's a wolf body and not a coyote body? The snippet of the scene is pretty short, so I'm not too sure on this one. If it's not Malia, could it be "la loba"?

This scene is the one that puzzles me out of all the previews. I hate to say it but I think that is definitely a wolf. Coyote's aren't that big. And I'm not sure it's a dead wolf, there is no way to know.

Also, the last scene on the end of season preview is definitely from Derek's loft when Kali stabbed him with the pipe. And I'm 99% positive that the scene with Scott and Allison was the scene from the closet. Although she never said those words to him.

From those trailers I thought the Nogitsune was just gonna screw with everyones head and make them act on some old feelings or twist their current ones. Like Allison would be attracted to Scott to mess his thing up with Kira. Derek would start hating Chris again for the whole family killing thing. And evil Stiles is just driving poor Lydia crazy. As for the wolf thing I don't know, could be any of the wolves on the show at this point she was just holding them maybe protecting them, but considering the crazy granny from Switched at Birth has been talking about la lobs and this full wolf thing and Chris connected it to Allison I'm thinking it will be something else. Probably introduced at the end of the season and will be explored more next season,

Great episode, great review.

..Now at the risk of angering Stiles fans (I love Stiles), but that hook up is slightly off, Malia was eight when her family died then she spent the next 8-10 years as a coyote... which means for all intents and purposes she has the emotional maturity of an eight year old girl...

Much too much deep thought for a guilty pleasure television program.

Yeah i've seen this comment alot but idk- Why are we assuming that because she's been a coyote since she was nine that she didn't mature emotionally. We haven't been shown anything to suggest she couldn't have been completely still aware of her humanity in her mind.
11

Flag
I don't find this argument a very good one for a number of reasons.
1. Has there ever been any suggestion that a creature keeps it's human mind? No. for all intents and purposes all the creatures we've seen that have shifted in the way Malia did lost touch with their humanity. See Scott, Erica, Boyd, Isaac and Jackson, before they learned any control. She was 8 and shifted in some sort of panic and killed her sister and mother.
People may argue, but the doll and she went to her Dad, but connections have been shown to stay with people even in their inhuman mind, Scott had a clear connection with Allison. So presumably whatever latent humanity in Malia as a coyote could be responsible for that.

2. Even if you presuppose that Malia kept her human mind as a coyote, she lived in the wild for like 8 or something years. She had no human interaction. Without human interaction her emotional maturity would still be completely stunted, it's just common sense that without interacting with humans and living isolated from everything in the woods is not conducive to emotional or much mental development.

Talia, the only other were/changeling who completely transformed into an animal kept her mental faculties in her animal form. That may be the difference between were-creatures who fully transform as opposed to having only a partial transformation.

We don't really know if Malia didn't at least interact with other coyotes, they are social animals. And animals do tend to mature faster due to their shorter lifespans. If she was interacting with other coyotes, she may have fully matured social responses.
1
Reply
Flag
Talia was also an adult who'd obviously learned control. We are after all talking about a child here who lost control, and while there could be some difference between between the half transformation and the full transformation, the fact that she was apparently stuck and can't return to the form, seems to indicate a lack of understanding.

But again, primate interaction is different from canine interaction. Even if she had a rich social life with other coyotes, that wouldn't necessarily translate to any understanding of human interaction or human emotions.
But she's a were-coyote, not an actual one, she seemed to be maturing at a human rate otherwise she'd be well into middle-age by now.

I think my main issue is, when last we saw her in episode 2 she was a traumatised, confused, skittish creature, and now a few weeks later she's completely fine and very well adjusted? I mean IF it's even been a few weeks, Time is so compacted in Teen Wolf. It seems to all be very linear with little to no jumps in time.
So to me it's a really wasted opportunity to have a traumatised sorta broken character brough back to themselves.

I just hope there is a plot twist with her.

ANSWERS:

... So wait, what connection did Lydia have to that basement a few episodes prior?

The body that Stiles found was of the previous nogitsune host. Remember how Kira said someone must have pissed it the f off for it be doing all of this as opposed to some random chaos? This is it. The previous host got murderized and sealed up behind a wall. That, or they just sealed him up back there and waited for him to die.

... Who was in the photograph?

I'm going to guess Deaton because he seems to have dealt with nogitsune before, and it was some sort of lab down there. I don't really understand how Deaton could have had anything to do with that, but maybe everyone has dark secrets? If not Deaton, then it would have to be an Argent. Mrs. Argent? Maybe Gerard, in order to continue the theme of "everything is that guy's fault somehow?"

... Do you love Malia or are you too intensely jealous of her to deal?

I don't know about the character, but the actress is straight up beautiful. Man, I want to make that final closeup of her smiling my wallpaper so that I can see it all the time.

... Should the citizens of Beacon Hills be more careful about fireflies going into their face holes? Why or why not?

Holy crap, how large is Beacon Hills? That is *a lot* of crazy for what I considered to be a small town. I mean, it's a one high school town, right? Then again, Malia apparently needed directions to get to Scott, whereas I figured she'd just walk a couple of blocks to get to his house or something.

Yeah, I still don't get that whole thing. She easily recognized Stiles, so it seems they only recently stopped attending the same school, right? And her best friend was later seen in the counselor's office, so she obviously goes to the same school as Stiles... and they generally don't split classmates unless there's redistricting involved. In most cases, kids from the same elementary school go to the same middle school along with kids from other elementary schools, and then they all go to the same high school, along with kids from other middle schools. Or maybe that's just how it's done in Texas. So, was she going to a different high school, or was she perhaps attending a private school or being home schooled?

It just seems like a relatively small town, based on the maps we've seen the characters use, and they've never shown the characters on or near a freeway. Maybe it's a suburb?

I'm pretty sure its mentioned that stiles and her went to nursery school together, it also mentioned that their moms were like best friends. I just remember on the way to the party Scott says that its weird that they're heading to another high schools party or something to that effect. As for the best friend thing, idk - that seemed like a bit of a mistake to have her in stiles' school but i suppose you could just chalk it up to her having two friends at the party who didn't go to her school!

I had higher hopes for when Stiles actually lost his virginity! This was almost like an afterthought and completely creepy, Losing your virginity in a nasty, dirty basement while you're institutionalized? Aww, I felt so let down. But on the plus side, Stiles is FINALLY not a virgin.

QUESTIONS:

So wait, what connection did Lydia have to that basement a few episodes prior?
Lydia seems to be a little "psychic" to me. When Stiles was going to have his head examined, she seemed to hear the sounds before he was actually examined. And now this revelation about the basement... I'm not aware of everything a banshee can do. Does being a banshee involve premonitions that aren't about death?
Who was in the photograph? Stiles' Mom
Do you love Malia or are you too intensely jealous of her to deal? I think she's okay so far but I could take her or leave her

I have just seen promo for the next 4 eps and holy shit!!! I know Jeff Davis said a while ago that one of the main 5 will die and iv got a prediction;
I am dreading this now but i think its Allison and I think Malia will be promoted to a series regular next season to take her place. When i heard Jeff Davis said that one of the 5 main credit people would die this year, i immediately thought Derrick because as much as i love love him he has become a bit redundant over the past year or so, i mean the point of his character was to teach Scott and now Scott is more useful than him and they haven't really given him anything else to do. However now that they have hinted that it will be Derrick in the promos, he now looks like a red herring, it reminds me of what they did with Person of Interest recently, where they said strongly hinted that it would be Fusco and it turned out being SPOILER..................... Carter. So yeah a bit long winded :P But unfortunately i think it will be Allison :S Cant wait to see where this storyline goes though loving it so much this season so much :D

Below is something I originally posted last night, but I had an additional realization that goes with it and thought it would be best to put it all in one place.

===orig post===
Something I found out of interest was how Melia's eyes were glowing at the end of the episode. She says that she can no longer transform into coyote form when she wants, but the way her eyes flashed makes me wonder if that's actually the case.

She was so angry when she first saw Stiles, but then very quickly she started helping him and then slept with him. It seemed to be a very abrupt turn about.
What if she actually is still quite angry with Scott and the gang and is trying to get back at them for turning her life up side down. She could be using Stiles as a means of getting at Scott, or as some kind of leverage over him. And now that she's going to see Scott about learning how to turn back into a coyote, if she can already do that but Scott thinks she can't, that makes him more vulnerable. I am NOT saying that this is what I WANT to see happen, I just think it may be a strong possibility.
What do you guys think?
===orig post===

Here's what I realized: In Native American lore, it is the Coyote – not the Fox – that is the primary trickster. What is Melia is ALSO a trickster – and possibly even in league with the nogitsune? We started the season off with searching for her, and it was in the search for her that Allison, Scott and Stiles each overcame the effects (or at least some of them) of their excursion to the other side.

think about it – Melia wanted to help Stiles get to the basement and came up with the original plan to steal the orderlies keys, and when that didn't work, she knew another route to that basement. She was the one who pointed out the Kanji on the wall, and I believe she also suggested checking behind the wall – though I'm not hundred percent sure on that.

I don't know, I may be totally off base – and I kind of hope I am because I would hate for Stiles first time to have been with someone who's actually trying to hurt them – but there's just something about Malia I do not trust in the least.

If the Nogitsune could have influenced Oliver, he could have affected Malia as well.

Or... It could have simply been the writers way of basically telling you she's exactly like her old man.

Interesting trickster theory. It would also fit with her being the basis for Stiles then agreeing to get possessed - since he did it to protect her. The two things that would argue against this interpretation though are: a) why hit him at all (that would make sense if she isn't a trickster and was actually angry but doesn't really work if she is a trickster and trying to get close to Stiles); and b) I think the coyote is generally more of a "good" trickster. Well, "good" is probably putting it to strongly, but not "evil". Nogi is pretty clearly evil.

I been thinking about your comments, and perhaps she was not yet teamed up yet with the nogitsune at the time she punched Stiles. The nogitsune may have seen her do that – we know he was already there because Stiles saw him when that guy hung himself – and perhaps he recognized the kindred trickster spirit in her. Coyotes are more of a mischievous-type trickster that it outright evil one, but I don't think that they would necessarily avoid working with an evil spirit if it suited their purpose. I dunno, just some more thoughts. :D

"Echo House" is one of those episodes which leave me with a feeling in my gut, clearly speaking: What the heck?!

Don't get me wrong. I loved that this episode was different from TW's usual stuff. Every once in a while I like to be taken to a mental health facility. I think, this Eichen House, has serious vermin issues and should call an exterminator who also specializes in exorcisms.

I don't know what Stiles was thinking seeking refuge there of all places. Must have been the Nogitsune beckoning him psychically.

I won't go into details about the episode. Or even discuss if Stiles did or didn't get laid (although I like Malia in the picture).

I just have one question and haven't found the answer in the comments below (can't read all 500 of them!).

Who the hell is the mummy behind the wall?!

The Japanese guy with the really bad teeth was killed in Japan in his pretty garden so he can't be the decomposed body in the cellar. So who was possessed after the Yakuza guy? How often has the Nogitsune jumped hosts? It has been quite some time after the incident with Chris Argent in Japan.

If the dead guy isn't Yakuza, then there are endless possibilities on who could be on that photo Stiles was holding. I'm guessing, that his mom may have been a in-between-host to the dark spirit. How long can a human body tolerate that kind of possession before it starts to disintegrate?

Maybe, Stiles even saw Derek's mom. I guess she could have been involved, as her family was the city's protector back then.

... So wait, what connection did Lydia have to that basement a few episodes prior?

She must have sensed the body behind that wall or has picked up some really bad vibes from there? (Always funny to answer a question with a question.)

... Who was in the photograph?

No clue. Kira's mom seems to obvious. I'm guessing Stiles' mom or Derek's mom.

... Do you love Malia or are you too intensely jealous of her to deal?

Why would I be jealous? That girl is always cold (I only have cold feet once in a while) and spent the last 8 years as a furry creature in the woods. Yuck! ^^ Good for Stiles, that he got to cuddle a little before getting completely fried by the Nogitsune.

... Should the citizens of Beacon Hills be more careful about fireflies going into their face holes? Why or why not?

I wanted to clobber Stiles for not reacting, when his cellmate was choking on a fly. In Beacon Hills, that would be like red alert for me! Hello? By now, everyone from the pack should know that flies mean big trouble!

YES FINALLY SOMEONE WITH A BRAIN HERE!

Stiles going into the mental institution was the dumbest thing this show had ever done. It made no sense what so ever other than the writers needing him to go there and the fact that Scott and co actually agree to it was pathetic!

But as for your question, the guy in the wall was not the Yakuza guy.
As was pointed out in earlier episodes:
1)Allison's phone had a call regarding a japaneese prison camp that supposably never existed.
2) The name of the prison camp was "Oak" which is exactly what "Eichen" also means - meaning that it's quite possible the mental institution is that prison camp.

It's most likely that the Nogitsune was a japaneese guy mistreated during the 30s\40s in that camp and was sealed in the wall.

You are assuming that the Nogitsune in the Yakuza guy and the one in Stiles are the same one. I highly doubt that this is the case. I don't know how many Nogitsune exist, but there is likely more than just one.

If it was a different Nogitsune, then why do both of them have a weird teeth thing going on? The one possessing Stiles has to be the spirit which had possessed the Yakuza guy (you can see his iron fangs under the gauze covering his face). The question is, how long was the mummy down there in Eichen House? If the body was there since around WWII, then it could be the former host to the Yakuza-Nogitsune.
TW is driving me crazy! ^^ It's so hard to wait until the next episode. But then again, TW will end soon and that's even harder to bear than the one week waiting period. *sigh*

I think Lydia felt Eichen Haus to be the place where the final battle will go down or rather that the Nogitsune's corpse was rotting there.
I don't agree about the red herring thing, scroll are so common in this kind of mythology and no one knew how to exorcise Stiles anyway. Maybe Kira's parents, but they just want to kill it?

good episode, but still waiting for this Stiles thing to be resolved because Stiles best not die or I'm done with the show lol and Stiles potentially got some action finally but he still hasn't taken off his shirt on a show where all but the human parents haven't done so I find it funny, considering he was in that movie with Britt Robertson where he did. I like Malia though, but I also don't want her to be a full time coyote, which it seems if what she wants to do, not just be able to go back and forth.

Did Stiles and Malia have sex? I thought b/c if the fully clothed cuddle when the showed them again that maybe they just fooled around a little? Stiles is a virgin so if they did have sex that was a big deal for him. Ha! Guess Malia virgin too b/c she was a coyote for all those years. I'm not sure what happened in that scene?!

It can go either way. It's possible she implied she just wanted to share body heat and its possible they went all the way.

Hey all...this is SPOILER ALERT again.

Well folks I was talking to a friend who is also a huge teen wolf fan (probably more so than I am) and we were discussing this whole "a hero will fall" scenerio. Apparently I have missed a few things in the news. There is apparently a news article out there somewhere that says TW has cast for an important male role for next season named Mason (if I remember correctly) . And that they mention that one of the original cast members would not be returning. Maybe the whole Allison not being signed on yet is actually a red herring. Would Jeff actually kill of a female character to bring in another male character. From what he said it also sounded like another male role could be introduced as well. Going to have to investigate this more.

Don't think things are looking good for Danny. Mason is described as out and pround, and described as a beacon hills gay athlete. Add that to the comment that Ethan and Danny might not end well.

I heard in an interview that they will be turning danny into something supernatural, in the blacklight episode he could sense that the oni were there.

I like the Danny character. And in some spoilers, for the season it said danny would be more inolved in the supernatural stuff, and so far he has barely been seen. Before all this death stuff. I thought at some point he would have a health issue with his lungs collapsing, the problem that was highlighted in hotel california, and ethan begs scott to turn danny.

His name is dylan sprayberry, he is actually 15 which will be great! Someone that's actually the age his character is playing

I'm going to be interested in seeing how this kid handles the weight of the situation, and it sounds like he is out and pround gay character. Has there been such a young kid play a gay character on tv. Thats huge.

I think this is important casting news and will link into who dies. I keep seeing this quote from Tyler Posey that the show is doing something thats never been done. Could they actually kill Scott or Stiles. I would find it hard to believe the show could survive that. I have to say I'm moving back towards derek being killed.

I like Malia, but not as Peter's daughter. I wish they dropped this.

The "pairing-on-the-couch" looked good, not too much sentiment not too much porn, natural really.

Also, I loved the fact that they plan a heist with the bikes in the middle of the road etc and it never even gets to that. Weak subplot, but they made something unexpected of it.

Also, more Isaac please!!!
