Episode Summary

Shredder attempts to use the world trade centre in an experiment, but the failure of Baxter's essential new device, plus the interference of those heroes in a half shell, prevent the villain's plot from succeeding. Frustrated at Baxter's latest failure, Shredder contacts Krang in Dimension X and demands that Rocksteady and Bebop be sent to aid him. Krang informs shredder that an exchange must be made to enable the portal to open properly, Shredder has the perfect candidate to take Rocksteady and Bepop's place: BAXTER! So, with a quick gesture (litteraly, Shredder actually throws Baxter into the portal), the transfer is made, and Shredder gets his old henchmen back. Baxter's fate, sadly, is not so pleasant, Krang immediately orders his execution, and he is sent to the disintergration chamber. A tiny Fly is his sole company inside the chamber as the device is activated. But fate has other ideas for the scientest. Instead of being demoleculerised, Baxter is instead fused with the fly hovering over his head, and he becomes a hyrbird of man and Insect and one consumed with vengeance! Escaping Dimension X, "Baxter Fly" locates Shredder, but the villain tricks the hybrid scientest into working for him again. Baxter uses two electrodes to create a device that will send the turtles to a random alternate dimension once they go in range of it. The trap is set further when shredder gives April a dose of a poisonous flower, a Dooku Plant. This lures the peeved off green machine to a scrap yard, where the electrodes have been firmly concealed. Soon enough, the turtles are right where Shredder wants them when splinter, driving the turtle van, gatecrashes the scene. In the battle that follows, Baxter accidentally fly's near the now- active electrodes, and is immediatly sucked into another dimension. (Bye bye fly, heh heh), Shredder and his henchmen flee. Finally, Splinter is able to cure April of the Dooku plant's poison.moreless

  • Baxter is now a mutant fly in this episode!

Here is my review for the TMNT episode "Enter The Fly". It is an episode I know very well by heart because I watched it alot when I had it on video. Anyway, it is about the Turtles investigating what Shredder and Baxter are up to. The villians get away when they are being seen. Shredder then contacts Krang and asks for Rocksteady and Bebop to be sent for help. Unfortunately, in order for them to be sent back to Earth, Shredder sends Baxter into the transdimensional gateway when it is open (a fly follows in with him as well, I might add). After getting his original henchmen back, Shredder decides to get back at the Turtles by poisoning April with a toxic plant known as a "Doku Plant". As for Baxter, he is about to be vaporized in a descinergrating unit until the fly follows into it and gets its molecules combined with Baxters', thus turning him into a mutant fly and escapes back to Earth. Splinter then tells the Turtles about what happened to April and that he needs a Gasai Plant to make an antidote. To make a long description short, the Turtles go out to find one and they deal with Baxter and Shredder, as well as cure April in the nick of time. If you noticed on this episode, you'll see the World Trade Center, which doesn't exist anymore (blame it on what happened 9/11). Other than that, this episode's great to watch.moreless
  • good and memorable episode

this is one of the most memorable Turtles episode ever. it is a turning point as krang finally gives shredder help and baxter is no longer a human after this episode. why did shredder want bebop and rocksteady when they are dumb, but then they have muscle. this is also one of the darkest episodes: krang was to disintegrate Baxter as he has no use for a human, but the fly and baxter cross mutate instead of getting incinerated and becames a humanoid fly; and April gets poisioned by shredder through a plant and there is not much time left.

also I mentioned to one of my coworkers a character turning into a fly on ninja turtles and he said it was that baxter guy. how do people still remember that episode! it was an old one.moreless
  • It would help my knowledge of Baxter Stockman if I had watched this episode first...

So Baxter and Shredder are plotting a scheme, and the Turtles interrupt it. Shredder would rather have Bebop and Rocksteady back, he must be desperate. He sends Baxter to Dimension X and Krang prepares to disintegrate him, but the dude merges with a fly and is duped by Shredder to serve him. I thought Stockman was smart. The Turtles have to get the Gazai leaf to cure April, but however, they must fight the mutants, Baxter, and Shredder all at once.moreless
  • This is a good episode.

I liked this episode. I mainly enjoyed it because Baxter became a fly, which I found to be pretty cool. Baxter isn't one of my favorite characters, but due to his mutant change, he's one of my favorite villains. This is an excellent episode, and it is packed with loads of action, and of coarse, comedy.

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (12)

    • When Donatello was struggling from the knucklehead he's colored as Raphael, but then changes to purple when the knucklehead gets zapped.

    • While Splinter is tending to April and waiting for the turtles to return with the gasai leaf, look at the bowl of ointment on his table. It's white in one shot and green in the next, and Splinter does not even touch it.

    • Episode was released on VHS titled, Case of the Killer Pizzas.

    • When Krang contacts Shredder in a warehouse, his communicator appears in his belt. Problem with that, it wasn't there before.

    • How come the Gasai leaf looks EXACTLY like the Doku plant?

    • Response to Baxter being conviced the Turtles were responsible for his new mutant form: Shredder just tricked Baxter into believing his mutant form was the Turtles' fault and he easily believed 'em 'cause Baxter isn't really all that bright.

    • In this episode and many others, Baxter is convinced that the Turtles are also responsible for him becoming a fly, but only Shredder and Krang took full responsibilty for the incident, and the Turtles were never involved at all.

    • The premise of a "dimensional balance" is a rather flimsy plot device to get Baxter sent to Dimension X. The balance certainly isn't affected when he returns to earth after being mutated (nor does it pose a problem when Krang brings the ENTIRE TECHNODROME back a few episodes later).

    • After being subjected to three years worth of September 11 footage, I for one can tell that the rooftops of the twin towers in this episodes look nothing like what the real ones did.

    • When Leonardo deflates the Turtle Blimp, his belly is green.

    • When Don eats his pizza he's colored as Michelangelo.

    • When Shredder says he "has a job for the Knucklehead", he's not wearing his pants.

  • QUOTES (10)

    • Shredder: Baxter turned into what?
Krang: That's right. It must've been in the unit with him. Instead of vaporizing him, it crossed-mutated him with that insect!
Shredder: And you let him escape through the portal? Brilliant!
Krang: I didn't have to warn you, you know.

    • Donatello: Whose bright idea was this, anyway?
      Raphael: Yours!
Donatello: Well, you don't have to rub it in.

    • Bebop: I passed the test!
Rocksteady:Uh, what is that thing, boss?
Shredder: One of Baxter's last inventions before his unfortunate, uh, accident. (Points at Bebop) I think I'll name it after you.
      Bebop: Gee, thanks, boss!
Shredder: I'll call it the knucklehead.

    • Donatello: I don't think he gave us the right change, I'm a few pennies short.
Leonardo: That figures. I've always said you didn't have enough cents.

    • Baxter: Oh, no! I forgot to reverse the polarity of the neutron flow!
Shredder: Baxter, you bumbling idiot! Why am I condemned to work with amateurs?

    • Baxter: (picks himself up after being blasted) Why are you attacking me?
Shredder: Why are you attacking ME? I thought we were friends!
Baxter: Some friends! (points to Rocksteady and Bebop) You always liked these mutants better! And it was your fault I've become this hideous hairy-legged monster!
Shredder: What? No, it was the Turtles' fault; don't you remember?
Baxter: The Turtles? But I thought-
Shredder: (interrupting) The Turtles were the ones who sent you to Dimension X! THEY are the enemy!
Baxter: That's right! We used to fight the Turtles together!
Shredder: And together, we shall fight them again! Go now, and you shall have your revenge!

    • Michaelangelo: I'm like mondo confused! Where'd that humongous insect come from anyway??
Donatello: Beats me... But there was something strange and familiar about him, like we met him someplace before...
      Raphael: Probably in the BUG-house!
Leonardo: I still can't shake off the idea that it's got something to do with Shredder...
Donatello: Forget Shredder! We gotta get that Kazai leaf, and fast!
Leonardo: And this time, we'll take the Turtle-Blimp.
Michaelangelo: Premo-notion! My feet are killing me!

    • Shredder: Baxter, you oaf! What's taking so long?
Baxter: It'll be ready in a second, master. There, this should create a gaint force-field between the two towers.
      (The machine blows up.)
      Shredder What went wrong?

    • Shredder: Months of work, ruined! Oh, you imbeciliican incompetent! Thanks to you, I now have to grovel before the baneful bag of brains, Krang.
Baxter: But why from a garbage heap?
Shredder: Because this is the site he chose for the transdimensional convergence! I think he did it just to annoy me.

    • Krang: What seems to be the problem?
Shredder: There seems be a problem, thanks to my miserable excuse for an assistant. (looks back at Baxter)
Krang: Enough! The Turtles must be destroyed before we begin our conquest for planet Earth!
Shredder: I need more help! Send me Rocksteady and Bebop. Maybe brawn will work where brains have failed.
