Episode Summary

EDIT

Leonardo, Donatello and Raphael are enjoying an episode of professional wrestling when Michelangelo enters the room and turns the channel to "ON TRIAL" hosted by Clayton Kellerman, a Morton Downey-like rabble rouser who suggests that a clear and present danger is lurking in the sewers: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The Turtles are aghast and can't understand why people would hate them. April has her make-up department make human masks so the Turtles could move more freely in the streets.
Meanwhile, Shredder is sweating from the heat, as Krang "chews him out" for his failure to retrieve the necessary components to repair the refrigeration units. Shredder has had enough and suggests that Krang go up on the Earth's surface and get what he needs and eliminate the Turtles himself. Krang considers this a good idea.

      • Donatello: I don't get it. Shredder had us cold, and he let us go.
April: Krang told him to back off. He's looking for you.
Raphael: Krang's up here, too? This has got to be I-Hate-Turtles Day!

      • Raphael: (to April about the masks) Where'd you get these, from Freddie's garage sale?

      • (Raphael and Donatello are ducking from Shredder's arrows)
Raphael: Where's John Wayne when you need him?
Shredder: You have to come out sometime, Turtles.

      • Bebop: (Chasing the Turtles) Come back here, you freaks!!
Leonardo: Hmm. This gives me an idea.
Bebop: Hey? Where did everybody go?
(Leonardo holds up shield, and Bebop is frightened by his reflection.)
Bebop: (Runs) Look out! A monster!
        Shredder: Bebop, you imbecile!!

        (The arrows don't faze Michelangelo.)
        Shredder: Ahhhhh!!
(Cannonball falls on Michelangelo, and his armor comes off.)
Michelangelo: Woah, what a concept: Medieval break-away threads. (looks up)
Bebop: (Preparing to throw another cannonball) Turtle toe jam, coming up!

      • Michaelangelo: I think we're a little bit outgunned.
Raphael: (In disgust) Tell me about it... Custer didn't have this bad!
Krang: Arriverderci, amphibians. I've got the solar benite, and you, my friends, are history!

      • Donatello: He's got April!
Raphael: I've always admired your quick grasp of the situation!

      • Krang: There's nothing like the smell of a new robot interior.

      • Raphael: (after pushing a turtle sculpture on Rocksteady) How's that for poetic justice?

    • NOTES (2)

    • ALLUSIONS (1)

      • The character Clayton Kellerman is a reference to Morton Downey, Jr. and his show, which was similar in both controversy and furor, with a rabble-rousing host passing judgement on whatever the topic.
