Lean, Green, and Back on the Screen

"Perfect"
I'll admit I'm a Turtles fan, I love the graphic comic book series that it's based on and still currently running today, the video games (two of the arcade games from Konami, the 2 and 3 NES game, 4 and Tournament Fighters for SNES, haven't passed judgement on current games yet), I'll admit at the time I did watch the 80's cartoon and enjoyed it though not anymore, and I loved the silver screen movies the first and TMNT, the second a guilty pleasure. It also was one of the insperations for me to take martal arts and become a martal artist.
This revival is one of the best revivals I've seen it is one of the best kind's I've seen since the "Battlestar Galatica Revival" because like all good remakes it not just translated well to our current generation but actually made things better.
One of the things I'm glad about for this revival is the fact it's actually closer and true to the graphic comic book series and has everything that made it great. For one thing the animation is suburb, I really love how they made the NYC backgrounds, like in "Batman" everything has shades of darkness giving it a noir like quality giving you the feeling that danger lurks within. But the character designs I thing are just as surpurb. The music is great, I actually do like the new theme songs, I know the 80's theme is memorable let alone fun though a bit repeditive on it's beats, with the new ones it just feels like there is a bit more variation to it from the words and the beats. The fight chorigraphy is supurb, for one thing the Turtles and others participating actually use their weapons and they use them well, as well as different marial arts styles and disaplines are applied.
But most importantly the story and charcters, what makes the show stand out is how both are very well developed. All the characters feel three dimentional and have an amount of depth to them, and the storys can be fun but also really dark which can at time make the show take a rather unfun turn. The story along with the characters constantly develop thoughout each season, this is a common format used in current tv shows like "Battlestar Galatica(revival)", "Lost", "How I Met Your Mother", and others. This makes us all the more care about the characters because you can't help but feel that what all of them do and feel does matter. The turtles are as usual great however personally I felt it was the supporting characters with them that really stole the show. Usually a movie/tv show with dozens of characters doesn't always work, but this show managed to balance them and develop all of them which made them all memorable and actually care.
And on a sidenote the show does homages/injokes/references much how "The Simpsons" and "Kill Bill" would. To movies, comic books, tv shows and video game. I won't state all of them because trust me there is a lot but if your experenced highly in all of these fortays then trust me their there.
I'll state some of my favorate characters, there are more but there is no room.
Tutles: Raphel: This character is awdsome and conplex, he's always a character that is conflicted interally as well as externally. Is two fisted, a bit of a daredevil when it comes to fight whcih can make him bite more than he can chew, has strong emotions, a sarcastic wit kinda like Juno (sort of), and takes crap from no one.
Michaelanglo: This charcter is just always fun. He's got sort of a surfer additude, non serious, really layed back but has big ambitions, naive, a bit illconfidant like Shaggy from Scooby Doo does express his nerviousness or fear but unlike him he's not short on courage and is willing to go into danger weather he wants to or not (usually the latter). One thing I really love about him is his hobbies which I emphasize with he's loves and has knowlege of comics, movies and video games.
Supporting Characters: Casey Jones: This charcter is always fun, he's a bit of a mix of Clint Eastwood and Chachi from "Happy Days". He's handsome, real tough and has the takes crap from no one aditude however he's a bit of a dufus which is why he's a bit unsmooth. But you have to hand it to him he managed to win over April.
April O Neil: As usual she is attractive but however she is real smart, is inventive and is able to figure certain things out with her science skills which makes her useful to the team, she takes martal arts from Splinter which means she's anything but helpless and is sometimes a ninja for hire. But most of all I love the chemestry she has with Casey Jones and how the romance develops which is interesting because it's seems like the least likely romance to happen but it does because at first both can't stand each other but of course dislike turns to like, then love, then well you'll find out but trust me the end result is beautiuful.
Karie: She's a great anti-hero let alone hot. She's feisty, firery, does have good intentions but is sadly misguided most of the time which makes he a bit sympathetic because she's a good person but her head's just in the wrong place, though learns to find the right way.
Chaplin: In a way he's is almost like a Tony Stark like character due to how inventive and not so serious he is. He's naive and might not look like much at face value but does have guts and I even like the fact that he has feelings for Karie which is another thing I can emphisize with. Both of them are also my favorate couple.
Well I've said enough, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles revival proves that the franchise is still kicking shell.moreless
