  • Intense and edgy but not without moments of humour, this is one of the best episodes of season 1.

The Foot have invaded the sewers searching for the Turtles, who in turn have taken refuge at April's apartment. Leo, sickened by the injustice and helplessness of it all, vents his anger in an early morning exercise run which soon turns into a fight for survival. If this episode seems familiar to you, it's because the story line has been adapted from one of the early issues of the original comic book run (Leonardo #1), and a similar scene was also depicted in the 1990 Ninja Turtles live-action movie (with Raphael in place of Leonardo). The setup is simple; place Leonardo in ever-escalating brawls contrasted against cutaway moments with the rest of the family goofing around at home, blissfully unaware of the danger about to come. There's good use of the various divisions of Foot Ninja here, from the low-level grunts (who become increasingly easier to take out as the series progresses) to the invisible Foot-Tech, Hun, and finally the Elite Guard. These guys are serious scene-stealers, and deservedly so. The show once again raises the bar for action intensity, and we get a good gauge on 4Kids censorship policies here - no blood is allowed, but multiple bruise patches effectively convey how seriously beaten the characters become. Like the original comic, there is little dialogue in the Leonardo scenes and the episode is visually dark and moody.

An exceptional effort that leads into the climactic arc of season 1.
  • All about the comedy relief leading up to Leo getting whomped by the Shredder.

Like many episodes of a show (namely NCIS), the writing for an episode with a shocking or tragic ending has much comedy relief leading up to it. This episode was no exception: Mikey belching (and the reaction to it), Mikey's cooking, Mikey's & Raph's bad table manners, Mikey's breaking a dish resulting in Raph and Donnie doing dishes without him.
Then of course Leo gets smashed up and thrown through the window. Not fun.
  • This is the fist episode I ever watched and it is my absolute favorite. It is why the TMNT sucked me in. You have the hilarious antics of the turtles at April's apartment and great fight scenes with Leo against the Foot.

The Turtles and Splinter have taken refuge at April's apartment. Why? Well, the hordes of Foot clan scouring the sewers could have something to do with it.
The episode starts early in the morning. Leo tries to leave the apartment for his morning workout, but he doesn't make it out before receiving a warning from Splinter. Later on the remaing three brother's receive a rude but comic awakening. Through the course of the day we witness the turles' life at home that Splinter deals with everyday. Ranging from manners, chores and the strange effects boredom has. Meanwhile Leo ends up in a fight for his life against invisible ninjas. Don't stop watching or reading just cuz invisible ninjas seems too 'oh-brother-not-another-stupid-sci-fi-wannabe-obstacle-thingy'
Too the viewer's horror Leo actually loses the fight and is thrown through April's window by some members of the foot clan. Before Leo lost conciousness though, he came face to face with none other than the turtle's mortal enemy, the Shredder (this is BAD because Shred head is supposed to be dead! He fell off a building and was smashed by a water tower for crying out loud!)(this example is also not an OBNASSFWOT)
It's really best to have watched a couple episodes prior to this one to understand what's going on, but it's one shell of a great show!
