Washu: Anyone remember to turn off the gas?
Mihoshi: Yes, I did! I remembered to do it, so no one has to worry, Washu.
Washu: Good, thank you.
[Seconds later, there is the sounding of leaking gas, followed by a huge explosion at the bar].
Ayeka: Oh, you mean we have a critically important mission to uncover a conspiracy on planet Jurai and we spent our money on a karaoke machine!?
Ryoko: Yeah, I wanna know who bought that stupid thing anyway.
Washu: It was you, Ryoko.
Ryoko: How'd you know?
Original Japanese airdate: July 16, 1995
Toonami edits: In the edited version, some of the more suggestive lines in Ryoko's song have been cut, as have her demands for more drink whilst in the bar. Ayeka's hostess speech is also changed.
Washu's karaoke song is called "Photon, Proton, Synchrotron". A synchrotron is a type of particle accelerator.
Washu: Through his experiments, Heisenberg...
Washu is explaining Heisenberg's famous Uncertainty Principle, an important consequence of the postulates of quantum mechanics. As Washu attempts to explain, the more accurately you determine the position of a particle (i.e. where it is), the less you know about its momentum (where it's going)- and vice versa.
