You ruined a dinosaur show for me, and it happened right when I turned on the channel. Fox had the nerve to make the screen about 5 inches full, and a ton of black border. What in world is wrong with you Fox? Sure, to me Widescreen is bad enough, but they made it even worse than the other widescreen stations. I thought it couldn't get any worse, but it did. It's has to be a little less than half a screen. I can only hope that Fox on the Internet has it a better screen, but this is terrible. I might as well put on a black screen, and watch that since that's what Fox will probably do next year, or next week of Terra Nova.

My whole families tv screens with this show ONLY, the picture was really, really small. Maybe, it was just Chicago Fox station that had it aired so small. I wish I took a picture of it. It was the smallest tv / movie on a tv screen I have ever seen.

I have seen this happened with other stations in Los Angeles like KTTV 11.1 (FOX) and KTLA 5.1 (CW). You should ask your affliate to see what the frak happened. I hate it when they mess up.

I contacted them. Hopefully, they will fix it by next week. If not, I will watch it on Demand every week. On Demand, it was normal widescreen.

Sounds really strange. The picture looks just fine in full screen 16:9 on my TV set.

Must have been something wrong with the broadcast in your area.

It actually makes sense that it's your service provider more than anything else. Sorry for questioning your sanity. It's really a shame not to have a working picture for this, because the production and vfx were quite amazing.

I didn't think the CGs were that good like Jurassic Park and Avatar movies.

I'm also from Chicago and had the tiny picture. It was very frustrating.

(I tried to edit previous post and it wouldn't let me.)

Update: I just watched "New Girl" (also on Fox) and it was letterboxed in the same way!!! But this was 24 hours later.

    (Still won't let me edit.)

I had online chat with Comcast but I think I was probably talking to a call center overseas and I don't think he really understood the problem.

Then I called Fox32 and talked to an engineer and he later sent me an email explaining that Comcast was getting signal on a legacy line. He didn't really explain why the problem started Monday, or why it went unnoticed all week. But he thinks he was able to fix it. Since the problem only happens during primetime (he also didn't explain why that was the case), I'll have to wait for Sat night (and maybe Saturday is different) so maybe I'll have to wait until Monday night to be sure.

Just an update of week 2 if anyone cares for Chicago at least. It was better than last week, but they still had glitches. It was normal wide screen at first, than during the show it went to black & white, than it went to full screen, and at the end it went back to wide screen. So, it was better than before, but holy cow, they don't know what they are doing. And for the black and white, it wasn't just my tv. I also checked other channels that were in color.

I was wondering if the B&W might be a problem with my TiVo since it included commercials, so it's nice to know it wasn't just me.

At least I grew up watching B&W so it's not too much of a shock.

I don't know if any of these tech problems are as bad as the writing.

    Mine was fine.

In the past, other stations have screwed up the HD picture... and went back to standardd 480, in the middle of an episode. It's rare, but it's happened.

However, sometimes it looks like it happens on purpose. As 1 or 2 stations have toggled back to 480 briefly to show a new alert or weather emergency alert at the bottom of the screen.
