Ok, are the producers of this show just hoping to be seen as the next Lost or is it just something that seems exactly like Lost and they didn't realize it? You, surgeon sent to a primitive land where his skills are more important, a world outside the normal comforts of modern technology, monsters in nature making people live closer together, and a battle over leadership that leads to being forced to choose between the two sides. I can go on, but thats just from reading the plot overview. This lasts maybe one season, and then everybody realizes that it is easier to watch Lost reruns than wait for answers from a show that will not last long enough to give real answers.

The part at the start of the 1st episode where the main character is lying on his back looking up at the trees/sky reminded me a lot like Lost!!!

It has people in it. Removed from civilisation. And unanswered questions. Sooooooo like Lost...

How about giving it a few episodes before you compare it to lost?

Lost? What? That didn't even come to my mind while watching the premiere. It certainly didn't feel like anything I've seen before, apart from a few scenes taken pretty much directly from Jurassic Park. With Cassar, Fury and Braga as executive producers, I'm guessing it'll be more like 24 at times.

I thought more about Aliens, especially the "mostly they come out at night, mostly" which is what Newt says in Aliens.

Its about as basic as story telling gets. But hey, I enjoyed it and basic stories are popular for a reason.

I think, it's more of an "outcasts" rip-off rather than lost.

I would never have thought of Lost. Hmm, perhaps Dinotopia.

Probably in production about the same time as Outcasts.

To be honest, it's getting so ridiculous with people's Lost comparisons that even a few trees and some sand would warrant comparisons. I loved Lost too but I don't compare everything to it.

Can I just get two questions answered or at least alluded to a possible answer eventually? First, if Terra Nova is set in a different time stream, how do the equations written on the rocks lead to "controlling" the future? Wouldn't the future be an actual new future where nothing is predetermined? And Second, on a related note (since Terra Nova is in a different timestream) how do they communicate with the future? Doesn't this seem like important questions to at least be addressed in the show? I'm not tuning out yet, but these questions combining with the obvious family dynamic that seems totally forced lead to this show seemingly being not thought out very well.

To be honest, I didn't see anything even remotely Lost like on this show: there were no families in Lost. Single parents? A lot. Families? I didn't see any until Nadia died.

To be honest, I see it as a mix of Stargate, Earth 2 and Pitch Black with a family centric plot.

If you like family friendly action adventure oriented Sci fi, Terra Nova should be right your alley.

Why do people keep saying "oh this or that is like lost" this is NOTHING like LOST...

Good show with some decent actors (except the english doctor woman) its like Earth 2 meets jurassic park with back to the future and pitch black with a bit of Aliens and some Wizzard of Oz with some Day of the triffids and Battlestar glactica thrown in for good measure. Lost HA nothing like it.....

Having watched Lost from the first episode to the last, I can honestly say it never came to mind at all while I was watching Terra Nova. So perhaps it's just down to personal perception. I have to say Terra Nova's very good and so hopefully,if it lasts, I'm hoping it doesn't degenerate into the same unintelligble mess that Lost did. I still feel cheated by the final episode of Lost.

it didnt remind me of Lost until you mentioned it....at least lost didnt have an angry teenager in it (right?).The angry teenager story is tiring and not fun to watch. get rid of the boy and the show might be more enjoyableCool
