      • Who were these people?:
Tony Orlando, best known for his hits in the 1970s with Dawn, was a struggling singer in the 1960s. Born Michael Anthony Orlando Cassivitis in New York on April 3, 1944, his biggest 1960's US hit, "Halfway To Paradise" was covered in the UK by Billy Fury. Orlando continued to perform his 1970's hits into the 21st century.

      • Guest stars' UK pop chart activity at the time of this broadcast:
Tony Orlando's "Bless You" had peaked at #8 in January, 1961, his only song to chart in the UK in the 1960s.
Karl Denver's "Wimoweh" was #14 and peaked at #3 four weeks later. "Wimoweh" was an alternate title for "The Lion Sleeps Tonight", and this version was similar to Paul Campbell's 1952 arrangement, which was based on a traditional Zulu chant.
