  • Script is very trite and not funny and the episode is trapped in a nether world that can't make the situation interesting.

Ann and Don are faced with sharing the same hotel room for a night.

The series runs onto a big roadblock with this episode, and it uncomfortably straddles two worlds without being fresh or funny in either.

Ann and Don are invited to a get-away wedding of Jerry and his bride (who is never mentioned again in the series). Unfortunately, the weather is frightful and the foursome must spend the night in a hotel. At first, the boys intend to room together but Don and Ann feel sorry for the newlyweds. So far, it is pretty mediocre stuff, though Bernie Koppel is scripted badly, obsessing over his plight and his cupid heart pajamas. Of course, Ann's parents get wind of the situation and are concerned about Ann and Don sleeping together, good enough as a generation gap situation (if it would actually be explored).

But then the installment flounders as Ann and Don decide to share the same room for the night. Everything in the writing is conservative, taking no stand other than the two seem to have never encountered one another before. It's uncomfortable and unfunny. The program could have gone in either direction, talking about conservative values or about late 60s "daring". But it does neither and so sinks like a rock. There is a lot that is amazingly unfunny about this one.moreless
