A The 100 Community
Thursday 9:00 PM on The CW (Returning 2017)
Well, this episode didn't bring us any gruesome deaths, but it certainly gave us a shit storm of guest stars! 1) Ellen from Battlestar, 2) Kane’s crying face, 3) Finn’s delirious quips, 4) Angry mob leader, but maybe most importantly, 5) Dave’s abs.

You guys, I came into this episode expecting the antagonist to be a storm (I don’t watch promos because I like to be surprised). I was very, very wrong, because the antagonist of this episode was EVERYBODY. All the people who graced our TV screens with their impossibly beautiful faces were peddling some kind of sinister agenda, and I was ABOUT IT.

Yes, we had some strange character regression and weird memory loss as previous development was thrown out the window (remember when Kane was nice, and then he all of a sudden wasn’t, but then he felt super bad so maybe he’s nice again?).

And true, the fact that there was a HURRICANE was a bit underutilized, but you know what, I’ll take the bad with the good, because there was so much good!

The episode began with Clarke wistfully watching the rain.

But there was work to be done!

Raven was trying to reach Abby so her and Clarke could save the love of their lives (sigh).

Up in space, the previously nice Marcus “I have a man monitoring your radio because my heart flutters when you’re near” Kane was giving Abby a seriously cold shoulder.

Kane was back to being such a dick! He knew she was waiting on a call, and yet when they heard voices on the radio he was all, “ain’t no thang” and dismissed it.

Yitteronious actually gave her the “talk to the hand”. Hahaha, did he just watch Beautician and the Beast or something? Am I wrong, or is this TWO DAYS after Fillubrious and Abby got crunked on the floor of her bachelorette pad and watched the rocket show? There were more flip-flops in this room than a dockside eatery!

Then of course they all heard the sweet, sweet sounds of the best radio show on earth (never going to stop using that pun).

The radio started going haywire, because there was an effing HURRICANE on top of them. You know how we know? This guy:

Is this not the exact role he played in Battlestar? Does this mean the new council member is really a robot?? I hope so!!

Anyway, on the ground they casually mentioned that Monty and Jasper are missing, but it’s not a big deal because they aren’t credited for this episode and we should all just forget about it. But look who WAS back!

Quick request - can Bellemy always be wet? Thank you.

They took Dave upstairs and I guess took his outer-wear off? NOT A COMPLAINT. Although, remember when Dave looked like this:

And now he looks like a dirty Old Navy commercial?

Octavia tried defending him, but Bellamy was pretty set on his “torture for information” plan. Honestly, I can see both sides! Bellamy isn’t wrong - the Grounders HAVE killed a bunch, so he’s kind of justified in his distrust.

That’s something this show does really well. I’m seeing both sides in a lot of arguments (Abby vs. Kane, Tiffonrious vs. The Angry Mob, Wells vs. Charlotte’s Knife, etc). The storytelling isn’t black and white, and I love that.

My eyes usually glaze over when TV shows head into political plotlines, but this lady was on my screen for approximately 2.3 seconds before I was on board. I want to know everything there is to know about this beautiful mystery! WHAT ARE YOU UP TO, LADY? Most of that can likely be attributed to the alluring charisma oozing out of actress Kate Vernon. Whatever the case, I’m pumped!

I guess she used to be Chancellor and wants to be again and is manipulating people to get it and I don’t even care, put this babe in every scene.

I couldn’t dwell on this possible cylon, because it was time to de-knife Finn!

There was a crash and Clarke went flying with the knife, and I was like, “HOLY MOTHER, DID THEY JUST KILL FINN??” but nope! He was cracking jokes like there wasn’t just a primitive blade nestled between his ribs.

Upstairs, Bellamy was trying to get to the bottom of things with Dave.

There was a picture of Octavia, and it was really good! Do you think he went to Grounder Art School? Do you think somewhere in his cave there’s an acrylic painting of a bowl of fruit?

Clarke patched up Finn and stormed out before Abby could initiate a mother-daughter gossip session. Oh, and look where she went!

Kane went to his mom’s diggs where a crowd of people were pretty ticked with him.

Kane was feeling pretty bummed about all the murder he’d sanctioned. You guys, he may have been stubborn and unwilling to listen to reason, but in his defense, I would have thought Abby was from crazy-ville too! Man, I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, this show lives in the “grey area” and I never want it to move out.

On the ground Clarke figured out that Finn had been poisoned, and went to Dave for answers.

Bellamy decided to cut off his Old Navy shirt (rude!) and beat him with a seatbelt to get the answers, although he seemed a little flustered.

Dave didn’t give them the antidote, which I maybe don’t blame him, but then I also see Bellamy’s side… UGH, THIS SHOW!

During the town meeting, the angry mob leader yelled out that he doesn’t trust the council anymore, so Grimmulious gave Abby’s chair to the new babe.

Seriously, though - when Hibberonious screamed “I lost my son!” it gave me chills and Isaiah Washington deserves a shout out because that was just amazing.

Bellamy wasn’t having much luck with Dave, so he stuck something sharp through his hand, which looked very painful, but Dave took it like a champ. You guys, if you ever need information from me and I’m being stubborn about it, please don’t stick anything through my hand. Just take away my hoard of Easter chocolate and I’ll sing like a canary.

Speaking of wounds that didn’t elicit a reaction:

I don’t know about you guys, but I have to grit my teeth and swear when I accidentally scrape my hip on a table corner. Octavia gave herself a very long, deep cut down her forearm and didn’t even flinch.

But it worked! Dave was very concerned that she would die in an oozing puddle of white spit-up, so he showed them the antidote. High-five, Octavia!

Then Clarke had a nice catch-up with her mom.

Turns out Abby didn’t MEAN to get Melted Zeus sucked out an airlock, insinuating it’s Vivonious’ fault.

This episode was really driving home the fact that Kane felt bad. I’m surprised he didn’t hire a jet pilot to write “I’m sorry” across the stars.

Then Dave got a line! He said “thank you”! Dave speaks, you guys! Huzzah!

Clarke told Finn that Raven needs him (eye roll), so she sacrificed her own feelings and blah blah… oh look, actual sexual tension!

Oh, this happened:

And I think I actually heard all the shippers in the Universe squeal.

In our final scene, we got a startling revelation.

You guys! They’re on the titanic and they don’t have enough life boats! (Great line) What are they going to do? Do you think they’ll end up saving everyone, or will there be another mass murder? It’s impossible to know with this show!

Speaking of murder, what are Bellamy and Clarke going to do to Dave? Do you think the Grounders will come looking for him, or are they in a fight?

Will Kane start going to therapy to work out his guilt issues?

This episode posed so many questions and I am PUMPED to find out the answers. Gonna start the countdown for the next episode right now and stare at the clock until it’s on (my life is very sad).

Some things:

Are Monty and Jasper in actual danger, or are they playing Go Fish in a cave somewhere?

Do you like that the show lives in the grey, or are you yearning for a definite “bad guy”?

Why do you think Dave is never with his Grounder buddies? Was he kicked out of Murphy’s band due to artistic differences?

Do you guys miss the sea creature? *sigh* Me too.

See you guys next week!!

I enjoy watching this show, but I definitely enjoy these recaps about a million times more. The Old Navy 2-for-1 killed me! Oh Dave.

My question is, if this is only 97 years after the apocalypse, why doesn't Dave have some major two headed deer business going on? Are they really saying that the fallout from a nuclear war would create an army of six packed demigods with delicious bone structure and smouldering eyes? Because if so, what the heck are we saving us crummy bozos for?

Love the recaps. I also like the, mostly, grey in the show.

I have to say that I almost laughed when Bellamy and friends decided they were going to torture the grounder to make him talk. Really? Just consider the hostile and violent world that grounder was born into and grew up into, I was pretty sure he endured more suffering just surviving in that world than Bellamy and friends could inflict on him.

I'm not sure the grounder is going to die off soon, as a previous poster stated. I remember reading an article, in Zap2it.com, where one of the showrunners said there would be a relationship between Octavia and the Grounder, (they do have great chemistry) and that there were would be female grounders in upcoming episodes.

I think there's different factions, or tribes, of grounders.

Like the name Clarabell.

The love triangle of Clarke/Finn/Raven needs to go away, it's just irritating.

Forgot to add that the name Lincoln isn't necessarily the Grounder's name. Lincoln was the name given to the NCIS character that the actor played on that show, in a one episode guest star role.

Bummer of an episode--nobody died.

Totally agree with not needing a one or several well-defined, mostly functioning as evil/bad/sinister character(s). I'm good with 50 100 90 shades of grey (plus the 2000+ Arksters).

Dunno why, but I actually sort of prefer the Finn character over the Bellamy character. Although in this episode Bellamy really came to the fore with making some hard decisions and confiding in Clarke how heavy the helm of leadership weighs. Despite being on team Finn's side, I do agree we need to see Bellarke Clarabell over Farke.

I get Clarke is a central figure to the cast, but what makes her so annoying is taking on the role of Everyperson. She's Super Scientist! She's Medico Marvel! She's Captain Comm(unication)! She's Adventure Girl! C'mon, put some of the other 99 89 (well, +1 with Raven now on ground) to good use.

Regarding the Titanic Ark, I'm hoping they put all the possible resources, manpower, technology, and engineering into strengthening the central part of the station to give the 1,500 or so remaining on board a fighting chance at a successful Earth re-entry. Far fetched I realize, but the visuals could be so cool while providing some intense drama.

Do you like that the show lives in the grey, or are you yearning for a definite “bad guy”?
I LOVE the fact this show lives in the grey area. The grey area allows the audience to like and hate ALL the characters at different times through out the show. It is also way more authentic, because there is no such thing as an entirely good or bad person, everyone has both in them and shows should depict how hard it is to make certain choices. I do think this show needs to be a little more consistent in the way they portray those shifts though, as pointed out we get one scene where someone is being nice and fine and than it is like the next time we see them they have completely changed personalities, Kane is a point in case of this. I get that perhaps more time has passed between the scenes we get to see, but it just seems like some characters behaviours shift drastically rather than fluidly.

NOW some random things....

So I stupidly read another discussion board before watching this episode because I couldn't watch it until now and I was impatient. But the point is some terrible person told me that it was just announced on the show that Jasper was dead, and I almost lost it, like fine if you wanna kill him but do it on camera.
Now I have finally watched the episode and thank the stars I think he is still alive. I just don't understand why he didn't come back with Bellamy, since it was announced they were all out together, than 5 seconds later Bellamy and gang walk in minus Monty and Jasper. So I doubt they are in trouble but I'd like to know where they are and how they got stuck there.

This is more a general complaint / realization I came to about the CW in general, at least for me personally.
I find a lot of shows on the CW annoy the hell out of me because they have good plots but ruin them with love triangles, like they are afraid that the their younger target audience won't be interested without one.
But also for some reason almost every CW show I watch I like the supporting cast more than the main character. TVD, I hate Elena but love Caroline (post season 1 Caroline). Star-Crossed would be better if they simply killed Emery off, than maybe Roman would be tolerable. But Drake and Taylor and basically all the other characters are ok. Stephen is annoying in the Tomorrow People, John is much more interesting. The 100 I do not give a shit about Finn, and Clarke annoys the hell out of me most of the time. But I love Bellamy, Octavia and Raven, and I think Clarke can be saved if Bellamy can talk some sense into her a little more. I think it might be because most of the CW shows does try to make their main character this epitome of good, now as some of the shows have gone on we see the characters get a little blood on their hands so to speak but generally they are annoyingly innocent, naive, or stuck in a love triangle. If The 100 can rip Clarke out of this love triangle it might end up being one of the better shows on the CW, as it stands the show has pleasantly surprised me. Fingers crossed it keeps it up, the plot is moving at break neck speed and I worry that the first episode they don't have totally chaos or violence going on people might be disappointed, like some kinda withdrawal.

In the end I liked this episode, there was a lot of intense character stuff going on and I am excited to see how it changes things in the next episode. And YES, that moment between Bellamy and Clarke was AWESOME.

I assume they'll keep Dave around so they can wash their clothes on his abs. They're going to start smelling soon, his abs are there. It just makes sense.

I feel bad for Finn having to take his top off on the same episode as Dave. I know lying down isn't great for definition but you could tell that was the real reason Clarke kept running upstairs, and Raven was fooling nobody with her electrocution as a way to get next to those abs.

Abs.

The end.

Haha. Really fun. I don't even know how I ended up in here but I laughted out a few times for real.

P.S: I also often feel Adama could appear behind any door. Yes, that guy just changed ship. Half of that station seems to be populated by the BS Galactica crew.

Where do you come up with this stuff? Awesome, Funny, Entertaining, Riveting even. Come write for Shipper Entertainment since I'm aweful LOL. (seriously I'm the worst) How is the blog coming along?
Yes all the 'shippers did squeal! Bellamy also touched Clarke's shoulder. We take what we can get...

These recaps are almost as important to me as this show, which is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. Well done, I say.

Random thoughts:

Is the official ship name for Clarke/Bellamy "Clarabell"? If not can it be PLEASE.

Dave is in the movie Austenland where he uses his British accent and is without his shirt abundantly.

Does anyone else hope that Finn gets killed off at some point because he's lame-o and it would be totally amazing and propel great character reactions?

I miss the creatures too. Where are the mutant eels/deer/butterflies/things?!

oh. my. god. I can see it now! Clarkes absolutly devastated my finns death and is basically histerical, but who's right there to comfort her and make her world all rainbows and butterflies again??? Bellamy! ^.^ i think this is deffinetly a plot twist for them to seriously consider in the future. js. good call. lol

THANK YOU!!! Yes please rid us of Finn. Also I have tried to IMDB Dave and could not figure out who he was and he looked so familiar, thank you for saving my sanity. As for Clarabell that is awesome, it sounds like a Twilight baby name, if they ever have a daughter oh dear. I agree this recap makes the show even better, I feel the same way about Price's recaps for TVD and Teen Wolf, without them I never would have made it through TVD. As for the creatures, I don't know if we are counting plant life / drugs but the promo for next episode looks like everyone gets drugged or something so that should have some interesting consequences.

Thank you! I think Twitter has spoken, and the official ship name is Bellarke. It has a hashtag and everything... there's really no fighting that, haha.

Bellarke sounds ugly it almost sounds like Blart from that stupid movie, maybe I'm pronouncing it wrong. Regardless, I second Clarabell, I wish people voted on these things.

I think Octavia is going to help the Grounder escape. It was actually spoiled in an upcoming episode summary.

"oh look, actual sexual tension!
And I think I actually heard all the shippers in the Universe squeal."

YES to both of those. Can they just put an end to Finn/Clarke for good and put Bellamy and Clarke together. They are so much more interesting together.

I was laughing when the knife was taken out of Finn and seemed fine(until the poison kicked in). I was expecting lots of gushing blood. Finn was a plot device. Again.

I think Monty and Jasper are true loves and are hiding it from everyone.

I like that there's no clear villain.

Octavia/Grounder = No. Creepy. She doesn't care at all the he almost killed Finn?

Octavia doesn't care that he almost killed Finn? Why on earth would she expect him to care? Those guys attacked him in his own home, even though he saved their sorry butts with the fake acid signal. Personally, I was crossing my fingers that Finn would kick the bucket, but no such luck.

still, Octavia did have like a breif thing for him in the pilot episode..so you'd think she'd be a bit conserned...but yeah tbh i was realling hoping finn would die.

but that also probably would have ment bye bye Dave bc he didn't tell them the antidote and as we all know...Bellamy's crazy and would have made him pay.

Jasper is in love with Octavia but it seems he has to deal with other guys wanting her too.Poor guy.It seems putting his life at risk for her isn't enough to win her affection.Maybe a kiss but nothing else as of now.I guess it's like they say.A couple ship can't be happy because otherwise it'd be boring

"A couple ship can't be happy because otherwise it'd be boring"

Ugg no, PLEASE don't say that. I feel I do this on a constant basis but look at Teen Wolf, it is possible to have an engaging plot with solid unshifting romantic relationships. The writers just have to stop being so lazy and write a solid plot. It is like they throw relationship twists at the audience every now and then to distract them from the fact that the plot is getting dry. So far this show has a lot going on and can continue to work with a lot of other story lines, there is no need for them to stoop to a love triangle already.

But think about how completely boring Bellarke would be if bellamy stoped being the psycho we know and absolutly with out a doubt love and went completely soft and focused all attention on being "cute" with clarke and just being all around whipped. noooo. their constant agruing is what keeps the ship alive!! i lovee it lol

the only love triangle(well square now)I see going on through the show is between Clark,Finn,Bellamy & Raven.I say that because according to Devon(Jasper),there's a difference between the 2 of them.Jasper is totally in love with Octavia since the day he saw her while she is willing to experiment which is why she's showing kindness to the grounder who took care of her. Then he'll probably be gone in a few episodes and another guy will show up to try to compete with Jasper for Octavia's affection later on in the show

Nah Finn was kinda asking for it, you don't just run into a guys house and bash him over the head, of course he is gonna react. It was an accident, Dave is awesome, he does need to work on his communication skills though. Honestly though, everyone else would probably have been eternally grateful if Finn had died.

His name is actually Lincoln and he's gonna die soon because his character is only gonna be in 3 episodes
Reply
Flag
what how did you find that out? I IMDB the episode and everything and he is just in there as "grounder". I figured they would have him disappear for a while, are you sure he is gonna DIE, or is he just not gonna be in the next few episodes/ the rest of this season? Also how many episodes are gonna be in this season, cause it started mid-year, so is it just 13ep. or the full 22?
Reply
Flag
13 episodes and I believe he's gonna die because it says in episode 10(which is the episode Murphy returns in),"Octavia (Marie Avgeropoulos) sneaks away to find Lincoln (guest star Ricky Whittle) and returns with a serious warning for the 100".I also saw an article where the guy who plays him said his character betrayed his own kind to save Octavia which makes me believe she witnessed him being killed or at least saw him dead due to the grounders he betrayed and their leader will say something like "this would've never happened to Lincoln if he stayed with us instead of betraying us just for you.so tell your friends that this is their future if they go against us".btw mostly just shows that start in the fall get 22 episodes
