A The 100 Community
Thursday 9:00 PM on The CW (Returning 2017)
Huh.

Okay.

I liked this episode, you guys, it was good. It was a solid showing from The 100, but I’m so used to epic mind blowing tales of adventure and terror that this one fell a touch flat.

The premise was A+ for sure, but the execution was about a B, which averages a B+... I THINK? I don’t know, I was homeschooled by apes. I DO know a lot about banana’s, though (classic monkey joke). Basically if this WERE a high school metaphor that I refuse to let go, the last three episodes of The 100 would have gotten full scholarships to Yale, while this episode needed more extracurriculars on its application, ya know?

Don’t get me wrong, there were quite a few moments from I Am Become Death that made me sit up and smile / shield my face from fear / pump my fist in the air. For example, this will forever be known to me as the episode where Raven uttered the beautiful words “but not how I want to be loved” and gave Finn the ol’ heave-ho.

Also, Beautiful Creepster.

High fives all around, you guys.

Buuuuut, this will also live on in my memory as the episode where Jasper became a huge jerk-wad for no reason, and Raven essentially decided to commit heroic suicide after some boy troubles (heroic suicide is only cool when it’s done by Bruce Willis).

Okay, okay, stop crossing your arms at me, I’m done with the jibber-jabber. Let’s photo recap!

In the comments of last week’s recap, some fans had theories that it wasn’t actually the ship we saw explode, or that there were likely tons of survivors.

nopepng

double nopepng

mompng

Everyone be dead, guys… everyone be dead. Does this mean Abby and Diana and all those extras died? It sure seems that way (but I really hope not! What are we thinking, escape shoots?)

awesomepng

coolpng

Raven found something very explosive, but it probably won’t be important later so we should just forget about it.

Back at camp Jasper was regaling the huddled masses with his tales of bravery.

bestpng

tell mepng

This girl was HAVING IT, until they heard a ruckus.

picturespng

Huzzah! Let us all raise a glass to the return of the Beautiful Creepster! You shall never know how much we missed you, please never leave us again, and never, ever stop being so damn creepy.

callpng

I could tell Bellamy had missed Murphy based on his immediate attempt to murder him. Oh boys! (That’s how they show affection). I loved when he was all, “think about Charlotte!” and Clark shot back with, “I am thinking about Charlotte!”. Haha, hey Bellamy, hey Clark, remember when Charlotte brutally murdered Wells? That was weird, eh?

Over in tent-di-Jasper, a glorified extra was throwing herself at an adorkable hero, but he wasn’t having any of it.

dinnerpng

back offpng

whatpng

I am WITH YOU, Monty! Like… what? That came out of nowhere! Take a long hard look at Monty’s face. That boy is hurting and I DO NOT like it! I get that every relationship, even one as adorable as Monty and Jasper, has conflict. But both the onslaught and resolution of this one seemed very forced, and it made me wonder what the point was.

But then I got distracted by some very gross stuff.

true bloodpng

tastepng

This was all very disgusting and very awesome. Clarke figured out it was biological warfare because she is easily the smartest person on this show, including the adults and the animals and I’m sure most of the ghosts we don’t see.

Then one of the extras died, and we were reminded that this show loves killing people, so if you have a favourite character, maybe say your goodbyes just in case?

considerationpng

You guys, the extra gave this death scene his ALL, and we never even got to see his face. I feel kinda bad. Like… can he even use this on his reel?

questionpng

knockingpng

Octavia was still very peeved at Bellamy for their fight and his torture of her boyfriend, which happened AT LEAST five days ago, so maybe just get over it, you know? It’s not like he stole your slushy cup or anything (my brother did that twelve years ago and I still haven’t forgiven him, which I think is fair).

Anyway, she wasn’t sick and Clark asked her to scamper off again to get a cure from Lincoln.

diepng

absolutelypng

reactionpng

badpng

Haha, Lincoln did not give an eff, you guys. If there were a scale measuring how many effs he gave about Octavia’s friends and family, we would question whether or not it was working because the needle simply would not move.

He was all, “let’s peace out”, to which she replied, “sure.” (paraphrasing)

babepng

cucumberpng

gets mepng

Clark mentioned to Bellamy that she sent his sister on a dangerous mission, and he basically just rolled his eyes and was like, “Claaaaaaaarke!”

Then all the extras started spitting up blood into each other's faces (very rude), and everyone was panicking until Clark starting shooting a gun into the sky.

over itpng

She is hella bad ass, and I really like her, you guys. But then she collapsed and Finn caught her.

worriespng

nope 3png

Octavia gave everyone the skinny on the Grounder attack and they did not think it sounded like a good time.

nicepng

Murphy offered Clark his hammock and I thought, “huh, I guess the Beautiful Creepster had an epiphany whilst being brutally tortured by the Grounders. I’ll buy that.” And I DID buy it, you guys… *sigh* this show loves to throw me for a loop, and I love you for it, The 100. Never stop.

Finn, Bellamy and Raven came up with a plan to blow up the bridge with the explosive raspberry jam from the exodus ship. It DID come in handy!

But then Bellamy got sick and could no longer take the shot!

choicepng

probspng

Murphy helped the extra who tried to kill him that one time, and said they were “good”. Haha, oh Murphy, you trickster!

Then this happened:

bellpng

bell 2png

I refuse to caption this with my stupid smart ass remarks because this scene was beautiful and perfect and made me misty.

Bellamy admitted he was scared, and Octavia was there for him. *sniff* shut up, stop looking at me, *blows nose*, I just have something in my eye, back off.

Finn and Jasper noticed the bomb was missing and raced after Raven, but not before Jasper extended an invitation to Monty.

pisspng

fairpng

I don’t get it, and I shall stop trying to.

The Beautiful Creepster tried to help Bellamy, but Bellamy wasn’t having it because I guess he’s still pissed about his one-week surrogate daughter jumping off a cliff of her own accord.

Clark had a little chat with him about Murphy being super nice now, then they discussed the possibility of Jasper and Finn failing as a sure thing. You guys, is it just me, or was Eliza Taylor killing it with comic timing this episode?

We checked in with Raven, who was setting up the bomb and shooting it herself from short range for no discernable reason.

die nowpng

I suppose one could argue that she heard the Grounders and figured it was now or never, but why did she go alone in the first place? If she had waited approximately 3 minutes, she would have had back up and could have moseyed out of there without a care in the world. Or had she planned on pulling a Bruce Willis a la Armageddon all along?

I don’t know, and quite frankly I don’t want to know. I don’t care for this message, so let’s just move on.

Jasper was missing his shot a bunch, but then look who showed up with another gun!

100png

fan basepng

They blew up the bridge and it made a very cool mushroom cloud and then Clarke said the title of the episode to really drive it home. “I am become death, the destroyer of worlds.” Get it, guys? GET IT?

Then we had a sweet break up scene with Octavia and Lincoln.

season 2png

gatorpng

emotionspng

Octavia decided to stay with “her people”, which was swell.

Monty and Jasper got a heroes' welcome while Finn took Raven inside, and the most glorious thing happened:

trianglepng

girlpng

Finn did NOT care. Do you think he’ll invite Clarke to their bomb shelter of love right away, or wait a few days?

Speaking of Clark, she was having a nice chat with Bellemy outside the wall.

murphypng

Little did she know:

whoapng

funpng

BAH! Awesome! Oh, Beautiful Creepster, you never disappoint. I love a good redemption story, as you’ve probably noticed with my love for Kane (missed you!), but this is a thousand times better. Banger choices, The 100!

There were some really solid performances this episode all around, but special high fives go out to Marie Avgeropoulos, Bob Morley and Ricky Whittle for making me feel things.

As I mentioned, this wasn’t one of my favourite episodes, but they can’t ALL be favourites, right? The 100 remains one of the best parts of the week, and I’m anxiously awaiting the next episode. Dichen Lichman is back! Huzzah!

Some Things:

So I guess the arrow that hit Lincoln wasn’t poisoned. Okay.

Why do you think the Beautiful Creepster chose not to wash his face once he got better? Do you think he was using the dirt and blood to hide a zit?

“We’re running towards the war drums? I hate this planet.” Oh Jasper, you are still the best, even if you were inexplicably a D-Bag this episode.

Is this really the last we’ll see of Lincoln’s abs, or will he come back in a grand gesture to win back Octavia?

What did you think of I Am Become Death? Am I totally wrong? Was this the best episode ever?

That’s it from me, see you guys next week for some horrific violence and teen angst!!

"Buuuuut, this will also live on in my memory as the episode where Jasper became a huge jerk-wad for no reason, and Raven essentially decided to commit heroic suicide after some boy troubles"

I prefer to think of Raven's break-up with Finn and her decision to go on a solo mission to blow up the bridge as two separate, unrelated events. Raven just doesn't seem like the suicidal type. I'd rather assume that she just didn't think the others were as reliable as she is, so she took off on her own. And then once she got to the bridge, she figured if she wanted it done she'd better do it herself, even if she had to blow herself up in the process since she was then too sick to do it from a distance.

"So I guess the arrow that hit Lincoln wasn’t poisoned. Okay." - Either that, or Lincoln just knows the guy who shot him and what kind of poison he uses on his arrows, so Lincoln could take the antidote.

One of the things I really love about this show is how awesome all the ladies are. In the first episode, I was sure they were going to play Octavia as a rival to Clarke (and then she would have been written like a mean girl) but nope! It just keeps surprising me! Even the love triangle with Raven wasn't too laboured in terms of the girls competing with each other. It's lame that there's even the suggestion of them fighting over Finn, but I think the show's making it pretty clear that the girls are all wicked good. Even the one who was crushing on Jasper seemed pretty badass, and his reaction to her was totally lame.

The one thing I really hated about this episode was the lingering look between Octavia and Jasper at the end. I just don't feel them. Jasper is funny, but he's a bit too Fedora Nice Guy for me.

Bummer! I was actually hoping for a continuance of Romeo Lincoln and Juliet Octavia. Actually, I really wanted Octavia to elope run off with Lincoln so that a third major story line could develop: Octavia goes native, learns Grounder ways, and then later returns to the 100 85 (or is it fewer now? I'm having a hard time keeping track!) as a cultural bridge to help establish the new world order. I don't think that's the last we'll see of him. There are definitely strong feels between them and I thought the two had good on-screen chemistry despite how little we saw them both together.

Sorry writers of The 100 but hydrazine (isn't that what Raven called that nasty, explosive liquid?) is colorless (you all should have checked something like this: http://www.amgas.com/hydrazine.htm). But you all had to sex it up for TV, didn't you?

And I was kind of disappointed that we didn't get any scenes of the Ark this episode. Last gripe: if the lander from last week's episode was burning up on re-entry, any surviving debris would have been scattered for hundreds of miles and identifiable body parts would have been mostly reduced to splinters.

Well, we sex up plenty of odorless or colorless gases and liquids so they get a distinctive smell or look for security reasons. I don't see a stretch of that stuff having a colored component for whatever handling reasons.

As for the lander: It lacked its parachute. Clarke and Co thought it was fine until they realized it was going too fast and didn't have its parachute out.

It didn't burn up on reentry but simply landed face first in the rocks.

Hmmm... so Raven said ''game over'' to Finn? Good for her! I guess the Belarke fans will have to wait a little longer now that Finn will probably try to get Clarke back...

i swear i watch this show just saw that i can enjoy your photorecaps more!

i'm glad Raven finally broke up with Finn. about time! i sure hope Clarke doesn't go running to Finn the moment she gets to know. because frankly I have started to absolutely love Clarke(i didn't at first) and they better not ruin it! also i kinda like Bellemy and Clarke together.

as for Lincoln......i hope he comes back. this show and us viewers should not be deprived of his sexy abs.

beautiful creepster.....creeps me out....in the best way! i'm interested to see where this will go!

all in all a pretty good episode. not the best but good enough.

can't wait to see next week's episode! and ur awesome photorecap!!!!!

OK there was something funny in that scene with Octavia and Bellamy. When she said the "I'll always take care of you" thing, and he said "That's what I said to you the day you were born" and she was like , "I know, you told me that like a hundred times." -that was just funny to me. Like either Bellamy forgot that he says that to her constantly, or he just assumed she wasn't listening or whatever, but it was just funny to me that she broke the moment by complaining about it.
And props to you for mentioning the actress who plays Octavia by name this time. I think the last time you mentioned her you called her "that actress" -but in your defense, Marie Oarfolkajokopus is a really hard name to write. I think I may have spelled it wrong.

Do you think that they broke off the triangle to create a new one?
From Clarke/Finn/Raven to Finn/Clarke/Bellamy?
Reply
Flag
Ugh. Yes, it's looking that way, isn't it? I mean, just think about all those random close ups of Bellamy's face every time Finn did something for Clarke. Which I'll admit was kinda cute... however the whole love triangle things is just so over done. On the bright side at least a Finn/Clarke/Bellamy love triangle will be much more interesting and much less dejected, mopey, and codependent.

If there has to be a love triangle, I am much more interested in the one with Bellamy, Clarke and Finn.

Loved the pictures of Finn hesitating, so awesome, gave me a good ol' chuckle!!
Yeah Dichen Lachman next week!!!!

The reason that the Jasper being a dick to Monty thing worked was because it didn't go as expected. when a dork gets any amount of power of course it will go to his head-( When ANYONE gets any amount of power it will go to their head) and there will be a good chance he starts stepping on the people who helped him on the way up. But the classic way this should have played out was: Jasper becomes hero, Jasper gets girls, Jasper disses Monty, Jasper gets offered another mission, Jasper fucks it up, Jasper loses girls, Monty doesn't want to take him back.
Instead, they had Monty come to the rescue and ALSO become a hero! I liked that.

the last scene after Murphy killed Connor, he put the bloody cloth in Raven's hammock, I guess he tried to pin the murder on Raven?

OMG so excited. I agree this episode wasn't as good as I expected it to be, sorta like the one where they were all drugged. Psychedelic nuts and biological warfare are both really interesting ideas and you could do so much with them, I felt like it was just another thing happening though in both episodes. I love that this show is fast paced and all, but it also can't be afraid to slow down and seriously develop the intensity of things. I figured it was kinda realistic in the sense that when you crash on a planet, unprepared and have to fight for survival from day one than all of it would seem like it was happening really fast.
But I'm rambling, on to this episode's events specifically. I love that Raven and Finn are now over, Raven is too awesome to put up with that bullsh*t. BUT now I'm worried that we will end up having to deal with Finn hardcore trying to get with Clarke, while Raven is still sorta depressed, and Clarke is torn about whether she should go for it with Finn so soon after him and Raven breaking up, it is gonna be annoying.
The Beautiful Creepster was awesome, I figured he would come back, but I never fell for that rehabilitated sociopath act. I mean did anyone notice, especially at the end when he was killing that guy, his eyes looked like he had grounder make-up on.
I don't think we will see Lincoln again anytime soon. This sucks, but I think he has run his course, now we get new more deadly grounders.
As for Jasper, I think they just wanted to give him more of a rounded personality, they just didn't do it well. Like everyone loves /loved Jasper and thought he was this adorable, sweet little nerd. BUT everyone else has been changed, both for the good, the bad, and a little in the grey. There is no reason Jasper should be exempt from that.
Poor Abby and the ship. I said it last week and I'll say it again. I actually hope they all died and they don't magically have them survive. BUT there didn't seem like that many bodies, of course they could have been scattered all over or completely incinerated.

My main concern is next week. The promo looked like a Clarke/Finn episode, not my favourite. We had been making such good headway into the Clarabell ship. Also I want more of the Ark soon. Sh*t is going down up there and I wanna see how much and how bad.

"... this one fell a touch flat."

Exactly how I felt Toni_watches!

"So I guess the arrow that hit Lincoln wasn't poisoned."

Right forgot about that one!

"Why do you think the Beautiful Creepster chose not to wash his face once he got better? "

Since apparently there are but very few mirrors... people tend to forget what they look like... That is why I have one mirror right on my flat's door so I can take a good look at what I look like before facing the the world LOL! (It took a few embarrassing situations to learn that one!)

Very nice recap as usual! Thanks!

Jasper was an ass in this episode. He needs to knock his ego down a few pegs. Monty is too adorable for words.

I think my favorite scene was when Clarke came out of the tent with the gun in one hand. It was just so badass and you can tell she was thinking "I'm surrounded by idiots."

"You guys, is it just me, or was Eliza Taylor killing it with comic timing this episode?" It wasn't just you. She was nailing those lines.

Raven wanted to die because she knew it was over with her and Finn? That's the impression I got. Bad message to send. She also could have ruined everything by doing it herself. Now that she dumped Finn, please let her stay single. I will be pissed if they throw another love interest at her this season. At least wait until season 2. Let her have a story that doesn't involve being a love interest for once.

I LOVE the beautiful creepster. I'm scared they'll kill him off, because I can't see how else this will end once they find out what he did. I KNEW there was no way he wouldn't give in to the temptation to get his revenge. The guy he killed is the first one who wanted him hung, right?

For the first time I wasn't annoyed at Finn. He actually did something smart and came up with the bridge plan and he risked his life for both Raven and Clarke.

I'm still iffy on Finn. I feel like the show instantly tried to set him up as this good hero type guy, but at the same time undermined it all the time. Like when he didn't want to go back out and look for Jasper, when he wanted to use the bomb to scare people off but didn't want the responsibility of planting it. I could also be really biased because I have a thing about cheating, so he will probably be on my sh*t list until the episode he dies. I understand he didn't expect to see his girlfriend ever again, but as Raven pointed out he could've waited more than 10 days. He instantly was all over Clarke. Plus he continued to push things even when Raven showed up. To this day, he didn't have the balls to break up with Raven, she had to do it for him. I just don't like him, something about his character irks me.

AMEN. I could not agree with you more. It seems that they really do try to play Finn in the middle so he comes across as the fun-loving likable one, but he just comes across as indecisive and immature to me. I think you outlined his character flaws very well from the cheating aspect to not taking responsibility when he should have. Here's to hoping they kill Finn!

Toni, your recaps remains one of the best parts of the week, and I’m anxiously awaiting the next one.
Lincoln will be back, (I hope) and I too loved that sibling scene.
Like you said, every relationships has to have its ups and downs, but the tare between Monty and Jasper felt a bit rushed, glad we're through it though.

I was waiting on a scene from the ark in every turn, but i guess The 100 want to leave us in uncertainty another week.

Til next time!
