(Conversation between Sheriff Sam Land and Deputy Aikens).
Aikens: Judge is waiting for you in court, Sam.
Sam: Yeah.
Aikens: Bout the only one who is too, folks are too scared to show up, everybody's staying home. Except those four men, their in court.
Sam: I don't know why anybody is scared, I've got no case, can't have a trial without witnesses.
Aikens: That man is gonna get off scott free, unless you bring in your boy.
Sam: Maybe, he's not gonna get out of town alive. (Handing Aikens his Sheriff's badge.)
Aikens: You're crazy.
Sam: No I'm not, I'm gonna settle that man's debt the only way that's left for me, simple as that.
Aikens: You wanna get killed, he's not alone in there, he's got his friends, you know those four men are his friends.
Sam: I've allowed for that.
Aikens: Sam for seven years you taught us to respect the law, we do, now you take the law into your own hands. Why? Just because you won't use your boy.
Sam: That's right!
Aikens: Sam, they'll kill you.
Sam: I'll take that chance, Price you have to pay for breaking the law.
