Show Summary

Rupert Penry-Jones (Burn Up, Spooks) stars as Richard Hannay, a young man who gets caught up in a murder conspiracy. This one-off drama set during the First World War is based on the classic novel by John Buchan.

    I don't think the Hitchcock was a great movie but it was much better than this pap.



    It's a difficult book to film because the book's narrative drive is so strong. You have the feeling you could finish the book in less time than this show takes to get to the end.



    They take a lot of liberties with the book, which is fine if it works, but it doesn't work.



    Rupert Penry-Jones just has no presence whatsoever as Hannay. It's hard to overcome that.



    The whole project just stumbles along and offers less than the average Poirot or Sherlock Holmes from Masterpiece.moreless
