This show is one of the best shows on tv. I loved x files and this show makes me remember when. I love how we can go into the lives of each character and their abilities for years to come. I hope this show last a while it's a great summer hit.
  • They're back...and you never even knew they were gone... The 4400 (the show and the characters it refers to) were gone and have returned...let's hope each new episode brings a special something back just like the returnees themselves...

I don't have cable so I was unaware of the phenomenon of The 4400...that is until TV Guide started raving about it...as they were happy to see it was being prolonged from it's 5 episode run last summer to a full fledge series this summer...from what I heard it was supernatural in nature...a genre I've come to appreciate recently...

luckily I was able to borrow last summers 5 episdes (6 hours as the pilot was 2 hours) from some online friends...

over the next week or so I became wrapped up in the story of the "returnees" and their new found abilities...something I'm quite familiar with due to my religious affair with the first 3 seasons of Smallville and its "freak of the weeks"...

while the acting on the new USA network show is a little less than spectacular...i.e. it's no Lost...the story is great...and while they gave away the big secret at the end of the 5th episode...there is still a lot of potential in the 4395 other shows they can do about the rest of the 4400...as was seen in the first episode of season 2...

I'm not big on spoilers...so I don't want to give too much away...but let me say this...one of the returning 4400 has a baby between season 1 and season 2...and the baby's abilities far surpass any the 4400 might have...it's freaky...but I can't wait to see what those babies abilities will be used for "in the future"...wink wink...

I'm off to watch episode 2 of season 2 now...and if you haven't had a chance to check out The 4400 for yourself...hopefully you can find a friend online to help you start from the beginning...it's well worth it...
  • For those that enjoyed the X Files from the get go before the acting and cinematography was fine tuned, The 4400 should offer you a good hour of sci-fi/conspiracy a week.

I have really enjoyed The 4400. You have to take it for what it is. It is not the most polished show. If this makes any sense, it feels like a "cable" show and not an HBO or network show.

The plot rambles a little and should move a little faster....but with 4400 returnees, there is enough potential content to give this show some legs.

By intertwining episodes about specific returnees and their "ripple effect" around their returning with some core plot episodes, the writers of The 4400 should be able to follow the X Files playbook.

There is alot of potential here....but for it to be realized, they need to know how much time they have to work with. The pace of the plot would be different if there were one more season than if there were three.

USA, the land of the free and home of the brave. USA Networks have a most appropriate name. Thought its original shows have been a “hit or miss” affair, the quality programming that has emerged from the creative freedom and the sheer courage of its producers is by far some of the best entertainment on cable television.

In this regard “The 4400” does not disappoint. The basic premise is fresh. Four thousand four hundred people that had disappeared during a period spanning more than five decades, suddenly appear out of thin air. The show screamed “alien abduction” but it is later revealed that’s not the case (I won’t spoil it for you).

The show, consists of showing us two sides of the story, the side of the returnees dealing with their new lives and abilities; and the side of the Federal Agents assigned to deal with them.

Strong performances by most of the cast elevate this sci-fi drama from the norm. The relationships between the characters and its evolution is the key to this show’s success. Some people have dismissed this show as an X-Files rip-off, and while I’m a fan of the X-Files I must say that is not the case and if handled well The 4400 can even surpass that show.

This show is as about conspiracy as much as it is about human relationships as much adventure as it is drama. It has found the right mix, and while it is not perfect it is definitely on the right track.
