The airplane shown during the flying sequences of this episode is the Cutter's Goose from Tales Of The Gold Monkey which was a Universal-produced show that aired on ABC during the 1982-1983 season.
Murdock: Just as I thought. Sclerophyllous vegetation. It's a perfect environment for the vertebrate class of reptile Crocodylus niloticus, better known as the crocodile.
"Sclerophyllous" is used to describe plants with small, hard, waxy leaves. Schlerophyllous vegetation is found in Australia, Mediterranean countries, Chile, the Cape Province of South Africa, and California chaparral. However, it would not include the palm tree Murdock is standing next to, nor would it be a likely environment for crocodiles.
Crocodylus niloticus refers specifically to the Nile crocodile in Africa; there are a dozen species of crocodile worldwide.
Murdock: I was thinking of making you an ambassador to the coniferous trees. Maybe even the podocarpus.
Podocarpus is a genus of conifers that includes numerous species of evergreen shrubs and trees found across most of the Southern Hemisphere and equatorial regions (Africa, Central and South America, Australia, Southeast Asia, etc.) as well as in southern Mexico and some Caribbean countries.
Murdock: Boy, I sure hope we don't run into any arborescent, calla-like Montrichardia.
Montrichardia arborescens is the scientific name for the moko moko (or moco moco) plant, which is native to the northern half of South America and countries surrounding the Caribbean. The flower does resemble a calla lily; however, the plant is far from dangerous. The spadix and the seeds are edible, and the leaves are a favorite food for manatees; in Suriname, the milky juice of the stem is used to treat deep cuts and nosebleeds.
The ad calling for the A-Team's help includes the address "10707 Sherman Way, Apt. 7, Los Angeles". Actually, 10707 Sherman Way is located in Sun Valley (just north of Hollywood), and has been home to the Earl Hays Press since 1981. Founded in 1915, the Earl Hays Press is a props house that provides printing and graphic services (such as newspapers like this one) for movies and television.
We find out that B.A. isn't a fan of reptiles.
Murdock finds a baby alligator in the abandoned tank and names him Wally Gator.
Falani: Four men come out of nowhere and think they can defeat an army.
Face: Well, we've done it before.
B.A.: How you know the truck was gonna be there?
Hannibal: Well, I didn't 'til, 'til Murdock told me.
B.A.: You didn't have no plan! You didn't have no plan 'til now!
Hannibal: It's not when you have a plan, it's when you have a plan.
Murdock: Why don't we get our own island? I always wanted to start a democratic society, run my own country.
B.A.: Cool it, Murdock, you can't even run your own mind.
Murdock: Well, that wasn't very nice of you, B.A. I was thinkin' of making you an ambassador to the coniferous trees...
B.A.: Yeah, maybe you can make me sergeant of arms, so I can throw you out the country.
Hannibal: I don't know which I hate the most: hard narcotics or slavery, so I'm coming back tomorrow, and I'm going to cream your whole operation.
Murdock: Wally Gator is a swinging navigator in the swamp. He's the greatest percolator when he really starts to romp. See ya later, Wally Gator.
Murdock repeats the lyrics from the theme song for the cartoon series Wally Gator, though he skips over the third stanza.
Murdock: That's a crocodile. You know, just like that cartoon crocodile, Wally Gator.
Wally Gator was one of three animated series that made up the Hanna-Barbera New Cartoon Series, which ran on ABC from 1962 to 1963.
