"The 76th Annual Academy Awards" were held on February 29, 2004 from the Kodak Theatre, Hollywood & Highland. The big winner in tonight's awards is Peter Jackson's final installment of his franchise trilogy, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King as it swept with 11 wins of its 11 nominations. The award ceremonies was hosted by comedian Billy Crystal.
