This is the first time in 49 years that the top six prizes (Best Picture, Director, Actor, Actress, Supporting Actor, and Supporting Actress) went to six different films.
Clint Eastwood was the only "Best Actor" nominee this year who wasn't playing a real person. The other nominees were Don Cheadle ("Paul Rusesabagina"), Johnny Depp ("Sir James Barrie"), Leonardo DiCaprio ("Howard Hughes") and Jamie Foxx ("Ray Charles")
This is the first ceremony since 1947 where no film won more than 3 Oscars.
Cate Blanchett winning the Oscar for playing Katherine Hepburn is the first time someone has won an Oscar for playing an Oscar winner.
Clint Eastwood became the oldest person to win Best Director (Million Dollar Baby) at age 74.
