    They're creepy and they're kooky,
    Mysterious and spooky,
    They're all together ooky,
    The Addams Family.
    Their house is a museum
Where people come to see 'em
    They really are a scream
    The Addams Family.
    (Neat)
    (Sweet)
    (Petite)
So get a witches shawl on
A broomstick you can crawl on
We're gonna pay a call on
    The Addams Family

Most likely my all-time favorite theme song. It's a bummer both movies only had like 15 seconds of the theme song in it.

I also love the crazy sound effects used when the song is played after the episode.

I love how even decades later, the song is still widely used, and is still recognizable. I've seen it used for everything from teaching the Spanish alphabet, to saying Grace.

As I understand it, the director of the movie at first wasn't going to use any of the original theme because he wanted the film to be totally removed from the TV show and completly just based on the original New Yorker cartoons, but changed his mind when he saw the extremely positive reaction an audience had to a trailer that featured it.

I like how the cartoons from the 70s that were based on TV Shows - "Star Trek", "Addams Family", "Emergency +4" etc - had theme songs that strived to sound like the original themes, yet be different enough so they could avoid paying royalities. At least the 90s cartoon went back and remade the original theme and lyrics.

Interesting how Vic Mizzy's two most well known themes - "AF" and "Green Acres" - both utilize a measure of two beats after each line of chorus.
